As our Senior Operations Officer, working closely with the Head of Operations, you will play a vital role in the smooth running of our organisational operations. The remit of the role covers a wide range of functions including senior officer responsibility for ICT systems, office management, building management, and also contributing to Quartet’s strategy in response to carbon reductions and equality, diversity and inclusion.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous relevant ICT experience, operational experience of supporting a team in an office environment – preferably for a charity or not for profit organisation – and will have the necessary skills to work both practically and professionally with staff and trustees, tenants, and other third parties to deliver the best possible operational delivery across Quartet’s varied services.

Citizens Advice Richmond (CAR) is a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 5,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 17 paid staff and 75 volunteers. You will be working with children and families to provide trauma informed support with the aim of reducing trauma symptoms and rebuild relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY

To work with children (aged 5 – 16) and their families to provide trauma informed support with the aim of reducing trauma symptoms, rebuilding relationships fractured by domestic abuse and helping the non-abusive parent to understand the impact of domestic abuse on their children so they are better able to support them.

DIRECT WORK WITH CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES

• To understand and assess the needs of children and families and devise a child-focused support plan
• To utilise evidence-based approaches to strengthen attachments and rebuilt relationships with the non-abusive parent that have been fractured as a result of domestic abuse
• To utilise trauma informed ways of working to reduce trauma symptoms and distress in children
• To work with families in order increase stability and reduce risk 5
• To assist the non-abusive parent / carer in their understanding of the impact of domestic abuse so that they can respond appropriately to the emotional needs of the children
• To attend and initiate mutli-agency meetings where required
• To ensure that children and families receive holistic support that is appropriate to their needs, including advocacy and referring to other services
• To deliver programmes of child-focused group work
• To understand risk and safeguarding issues and act appropriately in relation to risk at all times.
• To work within national, county and ESDAS guidelines, particularly in relation to good practice regarding children
• To provide written reports and case studies to senior management as and when required.

You will receive support and training and a competitive starting salary of £20,000 for a 28 hour week. Reduced hours may be possible by agreement. This is a two-year fixed term post with the possibility of becoming permanent after two years.

We are looking for someone who will work with professionalism, empathy and kindness, have knowledge of working with children and families who have experienced trauma due to abuse and have a trauma informed, child focused approach. Experience of working with complex family situations where there are safeguarding concerns with the ability to assess risk is required.

You’ll lead on education-related volunteering opportunities for the Company’s membership, a vibrant community of people whose birth decades span the early 2000s back to the 1930s. 

You’ll also lead on relationships with all the stakeholders affecting our education-related work. You’ll ensure those relationships are flourishing and mutually advantageous, and you’ll lead on identifying and building new ones to increase our impact. 

You’ll support fundraising work for the Foundation, for example through creating compelling pieces for social media and hard copy publications.

HOURS: Approx 16 hours per week.  The hours will be flexible and may include evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.

• You will monitor and evaluate the operational performance of the organisation, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.

• You will manage the operational activity of our Big Green Heart experience days, supporting the CEO in the delivery of them. 

• You will work closely with our partner organisations who are using the Big Green Heart model, ensuring that the high standards and values of our teaching are maintained.

• You will also work with the Big Green Heart team to onboard new partner organisations. You will work with them to understand their needs and secure buy-in. 

• You will collaborate with the trustees, who also contribute to tasks linked with Big Green Heart's development. 

• You will manage the budgeting and financial planning processes, working closely with the Treasurer.

• You will be trained as a Big Green Heart facilitator with an expectation that you may be needed to facilitate a workshop during your time at the organisation.

• You will participate in professional and networking events related to Big Green Heart’s field of intervention.

• You will support staff members, trustees and volunteers, providing guidance and training in the operations of the charity as needed.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

• At least two years experience in operations management, preferably within the charity sector. 

• A self motivated individual, capable of independent working.

• Ability to translate vision into a working practice. 

• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Familiarity with budgeting and financial management processes.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

• Commitment to the mission and values of the Big Green Heart.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience of working in a start-up environment, supporting the operational needs of a fledgling organisation. 

• Familiarity with using KNACK database.

Fundraising Manager

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint an experienced Fundraising Manager.
 
We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to drive forward relationship building and income generation across all income streams, especially Individual Giving including appeals and major donors, Corporates, Trusts & Foundations and Legacies.

You will collaborate across the Trust to develop innovative and compelling funding proposals, delivering excellent stewardship to existing donors, and identifying, researching and engaging new prospects. You will ensure continuous improvement and innovation and an appropriate balance of fundraising activity across all streams, evaluating new ideas for income generation and strategies for implementation. 

Working closely with the Director of Fundraising and Engagement you will develop the Fundraising Strategy, and as a member of the Extended Leadership Team, will be the lead for driving forward sustainable fundraising activity in collaboration with colleagues.
 
A compelling and engaging communicator, you’ll be adept at managing a portfolio of donors at different stages – from prospecting and cultivation through to ask, stewardship and retention, working at all levels of the Trust to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. 

You must have substantial experience working in a senior fundraising position with a natural talent for building positive relationships both internally and externally, developing a fundraising team and growing a mixed fundraising portfolio. C4WS Welfare Coordinator Advert 2024:

C4WS Homeless Project (registered charity, no 1189622) which provides support to people experiencing homelessness year-round, through a well-established winter night shelter in Camden, a lunchtime club, Jobs Club, mentoring scheme, hosting scheme and various other activities. We are passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness and working towards living independently.

What We Do:

Every winter, we work with a number of churches in the London Borough of Camden who offer their venues to us to run a night shelter. We operate from a different venue every night of the week, and run one circuit, accommodating 16 guests.

We provide camp beds and offer a hot evening meal. Our guests leave in the morning after a hot breakfast, ready to attend activities and meetings in our offices in Euston.

Advice and Support

Whilst the shelter operates seasonally, every winter, our team works year round, dedicated to offering advice, advocacy and practical support. This can be accessed by former night shelter guests, and via our weekly drop in, Friday Club. Guests can also access other services provided by C4WS including lunch, laundry and showers.

The Role:

Our small, dedicated team is looking for a Welfare Coordinator, to deliver holistic welfare support to all those who access our services. You will work alongside another member of the team to ensure that guests are supported both during and after their stay in the C4WS night shelter to ensure the stability of their move on.

You will possess a passion for working in the homeless sector, supporting those experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives and ideally have direct and relevant experience of working with this demographic, or similarly vulnerable and/or disadvantaged groups.

As well as providing Welfare Support, you will also be a presence at the shelter for up to two evenings a week during the shelter season (November – March) including weekends, and you will need to lead a team of volunteers to ensure the safe running of the shelter on those occasions.

C4WS is a small charity, that delivers an outstanding service to those who access our support. It is thanks to a wide network of referral partners, corporate and individual volunteers, plus the support of several religious communities in Camden, who we have worked with over the last 20 years, that we can have such a positive impact on a person’s life. You will become part of that network, and learn more about the sector, as well as being focused on the current landscape of homelessness in the Borough of Camden.

Essential:

• Experience of working with and supporting homeless people, or similarly vulnerable and/or disadvantaged groups.

• Highly organised, the ability to prioritise workload and work efficiently to deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to listen to and work effectively alongside shelter guests, volunteers, staff, trustees and partner agencies.

• Experience of assessing risks both formally and ongoing, and at putting appropriate measures In place.

• Experience of managing challenging behaviour, incidents and emergencies.

• Good oral and written communication skills.

• The ability to take initiative when appropriate and work unsupervised, including being punctual and reliable.

• Good office-based administrative skills including computer literacy.

• Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively.

• The willingness to undertake any training, as deemed appropriate by C4WS.

Main duties and responsibilities

· With the guidance of the Supporter Fundraising Manager, devise, agree, deliver and be accountable for the area income budget, managing expenditure appropriately - to enable the NSPCC to plan its activity and services to grow fundraising income.

· To be responsible and accountable for the development of relationships with all supporters and deliver consistent high-quality stewardship and engagement programmes to retain existing and help grow new volunteer groups inspiring them to raise funds

· To identify new opportunities, to recruit and onboard new volunteers and fundraising groups

· To work with fundraisers and staff in other departments to maximise relationships with NSPCC supporters.

· Attend and speak at events and meetings, representing NSPCC when required.

· To complete monthly reports and ensure compliance with policy and procedures including safeguarding and EDI, always adhering to NSPCC values and behaviours.
