We are seeking new Trustees to join the Board of GROW – a small, but growing charity in South Yorkshire, providing bespoke support to women and girls. We have a skilled and dedicated team, with plans to expand and aims to continue to develop effective needs-led services. We need Trustees who can help guide and support us as we continue to develop and expand our range of specialist services.

COMMITMENTS

GROW’s board currently meets approximately 6 times per year, quarterly, with occasional half/full days for service and strategy development.

Your role as a Trustee would include:

• Ensuring GROW maintains its strong values and continues to deliver public and social benefit
• Supporting high standards of governance
• Overseeing the development of policies
• Working within the law, GROW’s governing document
• Participating in decision making, seeking specialist advice where necessary
• Willingness to give the necessary time and effort to undertake the duties of a trustee

The Role

As a Shop Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of your local Age UK charity shop. Whether you're helping on the shop floor, sorting donations, or creating eye-catching displays, your time and energy will help us support older people in our community.

This is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop retail and customer service skills, and make a real difference in your local area.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your interests and the shop’s needs, your tasks may include:

• Customer Service: Greeting and serving customers, operating the till, and creating a welcoming environment.

• Stock Handling: Sorting, steaming, pricing and preparing donated items for sale.

• Visual Merchandising: Helping to create attractive window and in-store displays.

• Housekeeping: Ensuring the shop is clean, tidy and safe for everyone.

• Teamwork: Supporting other volunteers and working closely with the Shop Manager.

For more complex issues you would be arranging an appointment with our advisers who will be using the information you have already gathered from the client.

You will need to be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as being non-judgemental and respect views, values and cultures that are not your own. Full training will be given.

We cover travel expenses within the boundaries of Enfield.

As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community.
