Job description

mySociety is a small, purposeful charity that uses digital tools to help people participate more fully in democracy, make governments and society more transparent, and work together to address big societal challenges. We’re looking for a Digital Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our high-impact, high-volume online services – including WhatDoTheyKnow, FixMyStreet, TheyWorkForYou and WriteToThem.

This is a vital and hands-on role, responsible for making sure these services run smoothly, are compliant with key legal frameworks like GDPR and the Online Safety Act, and that complex user support cases are handled with care and accuracy. You’ll lead on governance and risk management, support a volunteer team, and work closely with product and support staff to make sure our users’ needs are consistently met.

You'll be joining a nimble, digital-first, and entirely remote team – this post is fully remote, so you can work from anywhere in the UK! You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with colleagues face-to-face at our quarterly in-person team meetups.

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in managing digital services, who’s confident with complex support workflows and has a passion for improving services that make a difference. You’ll need excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and a solid understanding of data protection and information rights.

What does the role involve?

• Keep our services running smoothly, ensuring high-risk or complex support cases are identified and resolved quickly and effectively
• Lead and motivate our user support staff and expert volunteers, creating a productive and supportive environment
• Maintain our strong record of legal and governance compliance across services
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of our services, helping them remain useful, impactful, and aligned with user needs

 

User support and operations

• Triage, prioritise and manage all incoming support queries across services
• Ensure time-sensitive and legally significant cases (e.g. GDPR requests, Online Safety Act reports) are tracked, escalated, and resolved appropriately
• Manage our support workflows and volunteer contributions to deliver timely, high-quality assistance
• Collaborate with product and service owners to share insights and identify areas for improvement
• Help improve help guides and user-facing support documentation

 

Governance

• Maintain and update service policies, processes, and risk management protocols
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards (including GDPR and media law)
• Monitor risk and report issues to senior management
• Coordinate regular internal meetings, reporting on service performance and operational updates

 

Requirements

We are recruiting a Cattery Carer & Cat Foster Coordinator who will share our compassion and commitment for animal welfare.

Working with staff and volunteers across the Home, you will have a hand in helping all the cats in our care, from feeding, cleaning, behaviourally assessing and socialising to rehoming. You will be responsible for organising cats in our care going into temporary foster homes. This can be physically and emotionally demanding but is also hugely rewarding; you can view some of our amazing rescue stories here.

Generally, you will:

• Assist in the provision of treatment to cats as advised by our veterinary staff.
• Organise the cat foster programme, matching suitable cats with cat foster volunteers and advise on cat behaviour.
• Organise the cat intake list, providing owners with advice and where appropriate admitting cats into the Cattery.
• Assist the Cat Adoption Officer with rehoming the cats under our care.
• Work flexibly in a team environment, often independently, to meet the specific needs of  the cats in our care by helping with their feeding, cleaning, enrichment and grooming.

About the Project – Door of Hope (East London)

The Door of Hope Project provides support to women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets.  This includes journeying alongside women, whilst providing advocacy, information, emotional and practical support.  The project also has a strong team of around 15 volunteers, who deliver street outreach to women in Tower Hamlets on a Thursday morning and Friday night. 

About the Role

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, provide training, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience.

Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and we are looking to recruit a new Women’s Support Worker.

Taking a woman-centred approach, your role is to provide holistic support for women with complex needs who want support, or to exit the sex industry. We are looking for someone with energy, motivation and experience of working with vulnerable adults; someone who a highly developed sense of self-awareness who can work in a gender and trauma informed way.

This role will be part of a small team of support workers, and a service manager, who deliver an in-person support service, with women who sell sex on-street in East London. You will have frontline experience of working with individuals who experience multiple disadvantage. This might be in the VAWG sector, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health or counselling or direct experience of women in the sex industry. JAG  was established in 1994 to improve endoscopy services through clinical accreditation and develop training and support for the endoscopy workforce. You will be responsible for managing, leading and continuing the development of several projects, including;

• Endoscopy medical trainee certification (JETS)
• A training programme for nurses and other health care professionals (JETS Workforce)
• The accreditation of bowel cancer screeners (BCSA)
• The National Endoscopy Database (NED), which uses data from endoscopy services to support clinicians, services, and other bodies, to improve performance and provide a basis for research
• The utilisation of data from JETS, JETS Workforce and BCSA, to support endoscopy workforce development and growth.

About the role

You will work closely with internal colleagues, such as project teams in other accreditation and audit areas, as well as colleagues in finance, policy, IT, HR, and communications. You will lead and manage a team and you’ll have responsibility for and be required to work collaboratively with a broader team of sub-contractors and clinical leads. You’ll work closely with the JAG programme manager (Accreditation), to ensure that JAG continue to provide high quality services and support for the endoscopy workforce. Job Description

The Senior Service Manager (SSM) provides strategic oversight of Redthread Services (currently working with 9 hospitals in London and Birmingham) providing line management to ensure high quality delivery that improves outcomes for children and young people and be successful in seeking opportunities for further growth. The SSM will work with the YPF SMT and will take a lead role in implementing our YPF strategy in this area, including taking and making opportunities to grow our services, and supporting new service implementation as need requires.

The role can be home based, but time spent in each of the services alongside travel across the UK will be required in order to support delivery and growth of  services across the Hub.  The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering and managing similar services and the right mix of leadership, passion and energy, and an innovative nature. A proven track record in engaging with positive relationships with commissioners and securing new business is essential. The role will involve promoting, connecting and building services in order to impact the lives of vulnerable young people with complex needs.

Duties and accountabilities are split into two core areas, management and development of Redthread service delivery,  including direct management and coordination ensuring high performance that improves outcomes for children and young peopleand supporting implementation of the YPF growth strategy

• Line management of service managers and operational oversight of service contracts.
• Supporting the implementation of the YPF strategy, including making opportunities for organic and new growth. Work with Business Development and other business partners and engage Commissioners and other funders to develop our delivery models and to bid for services (organic growth and nationally).
• Supporting the implementation of the Clinical Governance policy and responsible for ensuring relevant services adhere to this guidance.
• Contribute to national stakeholder engagement plans and local, geographical influencer plans to promote our hospital based youth work offer and support growth.
• Ensure that staff and volunteers within services are engaged with Redthread’s vision and strategic plan, are motivated and understand their role and contribution to the wider organisation.
• Provide robust management and accountability for service budgets and in building budgets for new services working closely with Redthread’s finance business partner.

• Promote and support the participation of service users so that they are appropriately informed, consulted and involved in their own plans and the design and delivery of services.
• Be responsible for ensuring that all service activity is safe for all involved, to include adherence to Redthread’s health and safety policies including safeguarding, accidents, incident and injury reporting, fire safety and risk assessment. Review audit activity within services and work to ensure a consistent approach across services.
• Undertake other duties as required to ensure the effective delivery of the services.

Qualifications

Professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as youth, community or management or demonstrable equivalent experience.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge and understanding of relevant current issues and research (including emerging trends youth violence work and associated areas of risk)

EXPERIENCE

• A proven track record of developing and managing projects in the public, private or voluntary sectors.
• Extensive experience of working with young people (11 – 18 years) and their families, identified as vulnerable or as having complex needs preferably within a community setting.
• Demonstrable experience of staff management including recruitment, induction, supervision and support.
• Proven track record in scoping and developing new business activity, including engaging and developing positive relationships with commissioners.

Project Background

Come and join our award-winning place-based volunteering programme that works with residents living across Hackney and the City of London.

You will be based out in the community - the programme is based at GP practices - to engage, support and enable local residents and patients to deliver local services for themselves, to meet local needs. We support residents to come together, to share their skills and experience for the benefit of each other, to deliver local groups and activities such as a book group, film club, exercise classes or cooking group. Residents from diverse backgrounds and demographics attend these activities together and make new connections, building strong local communities, all working together to make their area a better place to live. People, many of whom are isolated across all ages, and who have difficult life circumstances, are brought together, providing each other with mutual support and encouragement to develop new skills and pursue life goals, and to feel better able to voice their concerns to services.

You will be joining a nationally recognised project - having won an award from the Royal Society of Public Health in November 2024 - to support residents to fulfil their personal goals, make connections with others, and design activities and services that meet local needs. You will also be supporting people to improve their mental and physical health through signposting them to appropriate services and encouraging them to talk to their GP if they have concerns; and will be working in partnership with GP practice staff to co-create volunteer roles to make the practice more efficient and a better place to visit.

Volunteer Centre Hackney is a medium sized charity (currently 30 staff) based in the London borough of Hackney, working to support local residents to realise their skills and passions through volunteering and social action, and to share these for the benefit of others.

Our mission is to build and strengthen communities across Hackney through supporting residents of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer and build projects together.

In 2021, we were awarded the Freedom of the Borough Award by Hackney Council for our efforts to support residents during COVID, which included mobilising over 2000 volunteers to deliver food, prescriptions and essential items, provide emotional support to isolated residents and support the vaccine rollout.

Main purpose of the role

We are looking for a Personal Assistant / Executive Assistant to the National Leadership Team and Board Secretary, based in our London office. You will have a key role in helping us build our capacity, effectiveness and support systems, working closely with the National Leader / CEO and our passionate and caring leadership team. 

In this pivotal role, you will:

• Provide high-quality administrative and logistical support to the National Leadership Team;
• Coordinate a range of L'Arche national meetings and forums for people with and without learning disabilities;
• Play an important part in internal and external communications, and in project managing cross-cutting initiatives;
• Support governance as a registered charity, company, and care provider through the formal role of Board Secretary;

Management Role

Sussex Emmaus is a 58 bed supported accommodation project. We offer low to medium support for those who have experienced or may be at risk of experiencing homelessness. Emmaus supports people to work their way out of homelessness, providing a home for as long as someone needs it. Emmaus works with people who may have faced multiple disadvantages. This can include but is not exclusive to: homelessness; mental health issues; contact with the criminal justice system; historical substance and/or alcohol misuse; and domestic abuse.
Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference, we offer a home, work and a sense of belonging. For many people who have experienced homelessness, losing their self-esteem can be the most damaging part of their experience. Provide support to Companions using a person-centred approach, both emotionally and practically, so they can live and work in the Emmaus Community. The role will involve using a Strength Based Practice model to encourage Companions to become resilient and fulfilled. Assist Companions to become independent and maximise their skills, where necessary accessing outside support and services. Where appropriate, in accordance with Companion requests, provide a move-on pathway that enables them to be ready to live independently.

What you'll be doing

With extensive experience of conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies, you will be producing actionable insights and recommendations resulting from research with a variety of audiences. You'll be collaborating with stakeholders to plan the research and working with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver a range of high quality, complex research studies to guide decision-making.

You'll also be responsible for line managing a team of researchers, developing and nurturing them to build their skills and experience in a variety of research methodologies and related subjects.

What you'll need to succeed

You'll have substantial experience of conducting and commissioning a wide variety of research studies. You'll also have strong analytical skills with the ability to understand a wide range of data sources and to express complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling way.

You'll be comfortable leading cross functional project teams and using agile methodologies to achieve project goals. You'll also demonstrate a strong ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and influence decisions.

This maternity cover role will lead a passionate team that champions the voices of blind and partially sighted people and puts the lived experience of sight loss at the heart of everything we do.
