Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of the issues affecting blind and partially sighted people in relation to sport. You will give talks in person or virtually, sharing your own story to improve understanding of sight loss to sports clubs, sporting venues and facilities and community groups. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to improve accessibility and inclusivity, creating a sporting world without barriers.
What you’ll be doing
1. Talks to sports and physical activity providers to support and encourage them to consider the needs of blind and partially sighted people by sharing your story to audiences, for example, local leisure centres, sporting venues and sports clubs.
2. Delivering talks to raise awareness of existing sporting and physical activity opportunities for blind and partially sighted people.
3. Representing RNIB as an Ambassador for the Community Connection service.

Role Purpose
As a member of the Board of Trustees, the Legal Trustee shares collective responsibility for the governance, strategy, and sustainability of Focus Birmingham. In addition to these general duties, the Legal Trustee provides expert legal insight and guidance to the Board and executive team, ensuring the charity complies with relevant laws, maintains robust risk management, and adheres to best practice in governance and decision-making.
You will work closely with the Chair, Chief Executive Officer, and fellow Trustees, supporting key decisions across areas such as regulatory compliance, contracts, safeguarding, employment, and charitable governance.
Key Responsibilities
General Trustee Duties
- Ensure the charity complies with its governing documents, charity law, company law, and all relevant legislation or regulations.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of Focus Birmingham’s strategic direction and operational plans.
- Act in the best interests, avoiding conflicts of interest and maintaining confidentiality.
- Uphold and champion the charity’s values, mission, and policies including those related to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion.
- Attend and participate actively in Board meetings (typically held quarterly), relevant sub-committees, and strategic events.
- Maintain effective oversight of financial performance, risk, and governance quality.
- Serve as a critical friend to the executive team, providing support, challenge, and encouragement.
Legal Trustee-Specific Responsibilities
- Act as the Board’s primary source of legal expertise, offering high-level advice on legal, regulatory, and contractual matters.
- Advise the Board on its responsibilities under charity, company, employment, data protection, and safeguarding law, among others.
- Support the scrutiny of key contracts, leases, service agreements, and policies to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
- Guide the Board in managing disputes, liabilities, or potential legal actions, working with external counsel when needed.
- Assist with drafting and reviewing governance policies, board terms of reference, delegated authorities, and codes of conduct.
- Ensure the charity is prepared for regulatory inspections (e.g., Charity Commission, CQC) and supports compliance reporting.
- Monitor emerging legal developments that may impact the charity and advise accordingly.

Then this could be the role for you!
Our Fundraising Events Team are at the heart of what we do, raising essential funds for the cats.
Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar.
Time Expectation: This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible.
Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.
We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.
Please note: Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Emmaus UK is currently undertaking feasibility work to consider the incorporation of an SPV which can become a Registered Provider of Social Housing on behalf of the Emmaus federation in the UK. This is an exciting prospect and would unlock significant potential to achieve our strategic objective to help more people.
To ensure that we are best positioned to pursue this opportunity we are looking to build the expertise of the Emmaus UK Board in:
· Housing Association/Housing Expertise or relevant regulatory expertise - providing strategic input as we develop the subsidiary and proceed with becoming a Registered Provider
· Legal expertise - ideally in a relevant field e.g. charity or corporate governance, housing, property, regulation etc
· Property Acquisition and Development - to support us with providing high quality services and managing sustainable growth
Joining the EUK Board at such a significant moment will enable you to play a key role in the future of Emmaus. You will be an integral part of developing the movement and central to making strategic decisions within EUK as the national body.

The difference you will make to cats and people
As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
You can expect us to

What we need from you
You’ll be:
· help set up and/or man stalls at events
· help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
· help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
· promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events
Time expectation
This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.
We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Children’s and Young People’s Activities Volunteer
Help young carers enjoy safe, fun, worry-free breaks from their caring role.
You support children and young people aged 5 to 25 during trips, club sessions, workshops, and holiday activities. You help them meet others, grow in confidence, and enjoy time for themselves. The role involves travel across Solihull so you can attend events and activities when needed.
Your tasks
• Support the Lead Sessional Worker during planned activities and outings
• Help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive space
• Encourage young carers to join in and feel confident
• Follow safeguarding, risk, and safety guidance
• Attend team check-ins and required training

About YAUK
Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.
Please note that this is a remote VOLUNTEER role.
We won't accept applications from individuals residing outside of the UK as we operate on the principle of bettering the lives of young people in the UK. Therefore, we require our volunteers to have an understanding of what it is like to live in the UK.
Responsibilities

As the Senior HR Officer in our Volunteer Relations team, you will be reporting directly to the HR Manager, as well as oversee the day-to-day management of volunteer relations across our organisation, ensuring the smooth execution of policies and adherence to the Volunteer Handbook. Your role involves being the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing queries, and resolving issues promptly while upholding the organisation’s standards and values.

You will also play a key role in fostering a professional and supportive environment for all volunteers, maintaining productive relationships, and ensuring operational excellence in volunteer management.
Duties
1. Exit Management
- Facilitate seamless volunteer offboarding processes, including conducting structured exit interviews to identify areas of improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of exits to inform retention and engagement strategies.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies during volunteer departures.
2. Volunteer Inactivity Management
- Monitor volunteer activity levels and implement inactivity management procedures in collaboration with line managers.
- Maintain updated records to track and report volunteer activity trends.
3. Grievance and Conflict Resolution
- Implement and manage an efficient grievance procedure to handle volunteer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Ensure impartiality and transparency in addressing grievances, collaborating with relevant stakeholders for resolution.
- Collaborate with the L&D team to provide periodic training for volunteers and managers on grievance handling and conflict resolution.
4. Policy Execution and Compliance
- Act as the primary custodian of the Volunteer Handbook, ensuring volunteers are well-informed about organisational policies and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with organisational guidelines and address any violations in consultation with the HR Manager.
- Partner with the Policy team to update the Volunteer Handbook periodically to reflect regulatory changes and organisational needs.
5. Volunteer Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for volunteers, addressing their queries and concerns to foster a positive environment.
- Actively promote inclusivity and diversity in all volunteer-related activities.
6. Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure all volunteer-related activities comply with organisational and legal standards.
- Prepare regular reports on the approved Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including challenges and support needed.
