The Director of Finance & Governance is a key member of Helen Bamber Foundation’s Management Team and plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering the organisation’s strategy and approach. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic leadership and management

Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with the Management Team and the Board, the Director of Finance & Governance will have responsibilities to:

• Work collaboratively with Management Team colleagues to provide operational leadership and development for the whole organisation, building our capacity and capability to deliver our strategy. 
• Work with the CEO to develop robust governance systems and infrastructure that will strengthen accountability, and support growth and deliver impact.
• Lead, manage and develop the Finance Team supported by the Senior Finance Manager.

• Conduct strategic financial planning to support the decision making of the Management team, Board sub-committees and the Board, and report to the Board as appropriate working with the Executive Team Assistant in this regard.

• Oversee and regularly review and update the organisational risk register, including financial and governance risks..
• Act as strategic lead on processes, systems development and internal controls.

Finance oversight and leadership

• Oversee all aspects of finance to enable effective day-to-day running of the Helen Bamber Foundation group and to support the continuous improvement of employee experience.
• Finalise annual financial statements/periodic financial reports (where required), and provide them to the CEO, Board and Board subcommittees for consideration and approval.
• Lead on the Helen Bamber Foundation Group audit process, working with the external auditors.
• Ensuring all statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements are met.
• Lead on budgeting and reforecasting across the organisation, supporting and challenging other teams to predict income and expenditure and make sound financial decisions, presenting to the Board and Board subcommittees.
• Support organisational planning by developing the systems to enable teams to model potential future work - e.g. costs of expansion of an existing programme or modelling potential new programmes and projects.
• Oversee the production of management accounting information, including internal monthly management accounts, quarterly reports for the Board, and financial reports for funders. Develop, maintain and monitor the financial systems of the organisation to ensure the accurate & timely production of these reports.
• Ensure compliance with agreements and contracts in relation to banks and external service providers.
• Monitor and report on the overall funding status, and ensure the timely reporting on grants is well supported.

• Support the preparation of applications for fundraising. Conduct financial analysis and review of existing and proposed strategic programmes, projects, and campaigns, contributing to decision making in this area.

• Oversee staff payroll, handling of petty cash and banking of donations, management of activity fees and credit control process.

Governance

• Work with the CEO and Executive Team Assistant to ensure that governance arrangements are fit-for-purpose, compliant and embody the spirit of partnership which defines the Helen Bamber Foundation Group.
• Support the Board and Board sub-committees, producing papers, and monitoring actions.
• Manage the organisational risk register including updating and monitoring of actions and Board discussions.
• Work with the Board to continue the development of outstanding governance policies and practices.
• Work with the CEO to develop and evolve the induction and training schedules for Trustees.
• Act in the capacity of Company Secretary.

Additional duties

• Act at all times as an ambassador for the Helen Bamber Foundation Group representing us at internal and external events.
• Perform any other task assigned by the CEO or Board.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Experience

• A relevant professional qualification in accountancy (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) or substantial relevant finance experience.
• Track record of achievement in a senior strategic-level financial management role.
• Demonstrable financial leadership and a thorough understanding of best practices in setting and managing budgets and oversight of day-to-day financial management.
• Experience of preparing financial statements, consolidated accounts and seeing through the audit process from start to finish, including dealing with external auditors.
• Proven track record of building, developing and managing teams.
• Demonstrable experience in working successfully as part of a senior leadership team.
• Experience of managing change and growth.
• Knowledge and experience of charity finance would be an advantage.

• Develop initial needs assessments and action plans

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on World Cancer Research Fund International’s Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global). CUP Global (previously known as CUP) is a unique, long-standing, and rigorous research programme that systematically gathers, analyses, and judges the strength of the global evidence on how diet, nutrition, physical activity and body weight affect cancer risk and survival. This work led to the publication of the authoritative Third Expert Report in 2018, which now needs updating in places to remain relevant and impactful. 

As Senior Research Interpretation Officer, you will be a valuable member of the Research Interpretation team and the CUP Global scientific Secretariat. Your core work will be supporting the management of CUP Global on a day-to-day basis to help deliver its main objective of updating the Third Expert Report. You will provide scientific input, administrative support, and help coordinate specific work areas of CUP Global.

We are looking to recruit someone who has a Masters degree in public health sciences, particularly nutrition and/or cancer research, and with a good understanding of epidemiological concepts. We are seeking someone with experience of writing scientifically, copywriting, editing and proofreading, with good attention to detail and with experience of reviewing and interpreting scientific research/literature. We require someone who can co-ordinate and manage projects, who can produce concise, well-constructed, written communications with the ability to present orally to various audiences in a clear and persuasive manner, and who can provide administrative support, including taking meeting minutes and writing professional emails. 

This is a permanent role within the Science and Policy Department at World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) International. WCRF International is a not-for-profit organisation that leads and unifies a network of cancer prevention charities based in Europe, the Americas and Asia and is responsible for cancer prevention science, policy, strategic and operational direction to the network charities.

Metabolic Support UK (MSUK) are the leading organisation for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMDs), supporting thousands of people worldwide through providing individual support, building communities, and continually advocating for and empowering those living with IMDs. 

We are a small but mighty team providing individual support, advice and connection to the over 40,000 living with an IMD in the UK and more across the world. We have a strong interest in rare disease policy and campaign for the rights of our rare disease community for better healthcare services, access to treatment and to be able to live well everyday.  

Role Overview 

MSUK are seeking a passionate and proactive Community Engagement Officer to strengthen and grow our patient and family community. There are over 1500 IMDs and many of our community use social media, other patient groups and in-person events to connect and learn. This role is central to how we engage with the people we support — through social media, community groups, events, and collaborative partnerships. You’ll be the bridge between our charity and the people we serve, helping to build a supportive, inclusive, and informed community.  

Key Responsibilities 

Engagement & Social Media 

• Manage and monitor all online patient communities responding to community messages and comments with empathy and timeliness 

• Moderate relevant support online community groups, ensuring they are safe, active, and welcoming spaces 

• Identify themes and areas of interest to advocate internally for MSUK response to meeting community need 

• Signpost our Individual Support service, identify and flag individual enquiries to the Individual Support Lead 

• Working with our Campaign & Comms Lead, grow the charity’s presence across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok) 

• Develop content that resonates with patients, families, and supporters, amplifying community stories and voices 

• Build and manage our lived experience co-production group ‘Metabolic Advisory Council’ 

Community Insight & Advocacy 

• Functioning as the ‘internal expert’ on IMD communities for all MSUK team members 

• Using our Contact Record Management system to log and manage community database to provide timely, relevant insight to team members when required 

• Work with Head of Insight & Advocacy to engage and support communities in relation to timelines for insight work 

Events & Campaigns 

• Plan, organise, and execute online and in-person community events (support groups, awareness days, family meetups, annual conference) 

• Collaborate with the team to deliver campaigns around awareness, fundraising, and education 

• Work with Virtual Support Assistant to coordinate speakers, logistics, communications, and follow-ups for all events with  

Relationship & Partnership Management 

• Build and maintain relationships with other patient advocacy groups, charities, and health organisations 

• Represent the charity at external events, meetings, and forums relevant to the rare disease space 

• Seek opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives 

Community Fundraising 

• Work with Fundraising lead on community support for individual and events fundraising including event research, donor journey support and online promotion 
   

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Experience managing online communities and/or social media platforms in a professional or volunteer capacity 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Strong organisational skills and event planning experience 

• Empathetic and sensitive to the lived experiences of patients and carers 

• Ability to work independently, from home, and as part of a small, dynamic team 

• Confident, keen to travel and enjoys in-person events and networking  

Desirable 

• Personal or professional experience within the rare disease, health, or charity sectors 

• Experience managing partnerships or external relationships 

• Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, or similar

Oasis Youth Support Project Administrator

Oasis Community Hub Hadley and North Middlesex University Hospital

Part-Time, 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

Fixed Term Contract to March 2026

Salary £17,331 per annum, (inc. London Allowance) £28,886 for 1FTE

Oasis Community Hub Hadley encompasses a variety of integrated and diverse community projects which together have a common aim to bring transformation to the whole person and the whole community. 

Oasis Community Hub Hadley is looking for a project Administrator to maintain the smooth day-to-day running of the Oasis Youth Support project at North Middlesex University Hospital, a project supporting young people who have experienced violence which has had a negative impact on their mental wellbeing.

Duties Include;

1. Updating and maintaining the project’s database from local NHS systems.

2. Identifying young people eligible for the service by screening referrals or trawling the hospital system and ensuring these are collated on the project database to be contacted by the youth workers.

3. Quality assure the data being recorded on the EVIDE system.

4. Preparing regular reports as required by the projects funders or other stakeholders.

You could be successful in this role if you: 

· Have a relevant experience with administration, including using excel, word and other Microsoft systems.

· Have an eye for detail and accuracy.

· Possess excellent oral/written communication and organisational skills.

· Are self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work to deadlines.

Please be aware that although the role does not require face to face work with young people, the post-holder will be regularly reviewing and inputting details of incidents relating to youth violence.
