Job description

We are looking for a permanent Weddings and Functions Manager role (W&FM) to develop the wedding business and to develop and grow the events business at East Riddlesden Hall. One of the most important parts of this role is have the couples and clients at the heart of what we do. It is essential we have a robust customer journey and that everyone receives an exceptional level of service. The National Trust is a charity and we run the commercial business to support to conservation work we do. It is a really important part of our work.

What it's like to work here

East Riddlesden Hall is a tranquil 17th century house, formerly owned by a cloth merchant. With the atmospheric exterior and the friendly interior, this house is home to a wonderful array of seventeenth century needlework and original exquisite plasterwork ceilings, created by local craftsmen. The intimate gardens, with an ever-changing palette of colour, offer a peaceful space to relax and unwind. There is a mud pie kitchen and a hobbit house.

What you'll be doing

The role has come about due to an internal restructure change so that we can have someone to lead the team, lead the business and work with the wider property team to achieve more commercial revenue for the site whilst providing exceptional visitor experience.

The role will predominantly support the weddings and events in a coordinator capacity working through the full event cycle through to delivery. The rest of role will importantly manage the bar plus staff and a wedding co-ordinator plus a growing volunteer team. You’ll also be part of the budget process and have a good handle on the figures, ensuring reporting is timely and that we are meeting our budget requirements.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you'll need to able to have/be;

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Line management experience or able to manage a strong team of staff and volunteers
  • Ability or experience to build to strong relationships with internal and external suppliers
  • Flexible to working requirements of business needs from midweek, weekends and evenings
  • Able to grow and deliver a commercial business within a charity setting
