We are looking for a Head of Financial Accounts to join our busy Finance and Commercial directorate and lead our Financial Accounts team.

Reporting to the Director of Group Financial Accounts and Business Processes, this role will see you devising and maintaining a system of internal financial controls, policies, delegated authorities and procedures to safeguard RBL funds (RBL charity and subsidiaries) and ensure that funds are spent in line with charity law, applicable accounting standards and donor wishes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of the annual consolidated accounts of the RBL group and subsidiaries, as well as the individual financial statements for the main RBL charity, Poppyscotland and other London based trading subsidiaries
• Project management of annual statutory external audit as well as other smaller assurance or reporting engagements and take appropriate actions
• Leading an effective Branch Accounting function, ensuring that the annual return process is successful in recording transactions accurately and to timetable
• Ensuring the RBL group is fully compliant with all relevant tax legislation, providing internal advice on the tax status of transactions and preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns and annual Corporation tax returns.
• Project management of the annual audit, ensuring that the auditors receive an accurate set of accounts, associated working papers and all requested deliverables by the agreed deadlines
• Management of permanent team of six, plus interim year end accountants

You will be a fully qualified CCAB Accountant and will bring experience of leading a multi-discplinary Finance team in a large organisation. You will have experience of producing and/or auditing complex consolidated statutory accounts and will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the principles of internal financial controls and VAT as it applies to charities.

Due to significant losses during the Covid pandemic, a Club appeal for donations was launched in 2020. The Friends of the RAF Club was established in 2021 to recognize these generous Members, many of whom have maintained their donations which have subsequently funded key refurbishment projects in the Club. Support of The Friends contributes significantly to the Club’s financial recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Fundraising will be expected to deliver in 3 key areas:

DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP GIVING JOURNEY

• Enhance the Friends Scheme through life giving and particularly ending with the Legacy commitment:
• Review and manage the fundraising strategy
• Retain, recruit and steward the Friends of the RAF Club
• Devise and implement a legacy strategy
• Devise and implement a series of engagement and stewardship events for the Friends of the RAF Club

CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS

• Deliver the funding to help pay for capital projects within the Club:
• In liaison with the House Committee, devise and manage the 2025 appeal campaign to fund the refurbishment of The Running Horse Tavern (the Club’s onsite ‘pub’)

DELIVERY OF ASSOCIATED ADMINISTRATION

• In compliance with the Fundraising Code, GDPR and all other associated regulations:
• Run Friends and Legacy schemes
• Timely and appropriate communication and follow-up with all relevant parties (accepting this is a part-time role)
• Event delivery for Friends events
• Manage the systems and processes to track, administer and report on donations received
• Prepare and produce fundraising marketing collateral.
• Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims
• Prepare all papers and minutes for the Fundraising and Legacy Committee (FR&LC), actioning all fundraising initiatives
• Prepare FR&LC reports for the Board of Trustees

Priorities (KPI) for Delivery in 2024/25:

• Priority 1 - Friends Scheme - ensure lines of communication are kept open for all Friends (Gold, Silver and Bronze) - focusing effort to personally engage and get to know Gold and Silver Friends. Increase membership at all 3 levels. Devise and deliver events for Friends.
• Priority 2 - Capital Project - 'Running Horse Tavern refurbishment'. Supported lead to devise and deliver fundraising from potential donors. Minimum target: £100,000 
• Priority 3 - Membership Giving Journey - Development and implementation of a membership giving journey, with particular emphasis on delivery of a Legacy Programme.
• Achieve the existing fundraising target of £120,000 in calendar year 2024.

Person Specification:

Group Senior Financial Accountant

The position has been newly created after a restructure.

Reporting into the Associate Director of Finance.

Overall Purpose:

Lead the process for the production and approval of all consolidated internal and external reporting and statutory accounts. Lead the VAT and Corporation tax accounting and reporting process and the relationship with external tax advisors (VAT and corporation tax) Manage the treasury function and oversee all investment fund management and balance sheet reconciliation. Develop and maintain of the financial policies, controls, systems, and processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the group's finances and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirement.

Produce statutory accounts for the group and subsidiary entities and lead the process for approval and filing.

Lead on all aspects of the audit process, including relationship with the auditors and ensure all queries are resolved in a timely manner.

Produce monthly consolidated reports pack including SOFA/balance sheet and cash flow forecast for board and committees pack including P&L and cashflow.

Ensure month end reconciliations are completed for all balance sheet accounts and follow up on any outstanding actions. Lead on the effective posting and reconciliation of group payroll, pensions, and other intercompany payments, while working with the wider finance team.

Oversee the accounting and administration for all fixed assets, investments, bank accounts and restricted funds, including reporting to the FB and TBAC. Manage the preparation and submission of the group VAT returns within the statutory deadlines.

Lead the relationship with external Corporation tax advisors and respond to all requests from HMRC in a timely manner. Coordinate all external reporting request from National Statistics Office and other regulatory bodies.

Review, develop and control accounting standards and policies.

Purpose of your Job:

This is an exciting new role at Centre 33 and will play a key role to support the advancement and successful implementation of an operational plan to fundraise across Corporate and Community opportunities.

We would like to hear from ambitious fundraisers who have experience in these income streams, maybe as a team member, who is looking for the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge further within Centre 33’s growing Fundraising department. • Oversee daily operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively

• Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and to comply with stakeholder contracts and agreements and  all relevant regulations and legal requirements.

• Oversee programme administration processes to ensure the efficient management of these areas

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of services and programmes with the Management Team. Coordinate the delivery of effective Management Information and analysis of Appeer operations for regular review by the CEO and Board

• Ensure all necessary IT software, hardware and resources across the organisation are implemented and managed well, securely and up-to-date.

Financial and Funding Management:

• Oversee financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, and ensure compliance with financial regulations with Financial Manager

• Support the Board of Directors and Finance Committee with financial reporting, analysis and financial and sustainability strategy development for the organisation with Financial Manager

• Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and partnerships; manage funding relationships and grant monitoring and reporting with CEO and internal staff

• Manage external supplier contracts and relationships: ensuring contracts, insurances, subscriptions and rentals/hires are maintained to ensure continuity of cover/use and offer best value for the organisation

HR Management:

• Oversee the management of HR across the organisation, advising on the strategic recruitment, management and development of staff and volunteers

• Responsible for the coordination of recruitment, induction and training of new recruits

• Provide ‘business partner’ HR support to Line Managers

• Coordinate Appeer’s process of regular performance and reward reviews and coordinate a programme of ongoing training and development opportunities

• Ensure compliance with HR policies and employment legislation and that employment contracts and the Employee Handbook are kept under ongoing review

• Ensure best practice delivery of  employment practices in line with Appeer’s values

• Line manage the Admin Officer, Finance Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Strategic Planning:

• Work with the CEO to develop and implement the Appeer CIC’s strategic plan

• As a member of the senior leadership team, support the CEO and board in organisational strategy development

• Identify opportunities for growth and development of services

• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, funders, community partners

Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure Appeer complies with all relevant regulations and legal requirements.  Manage risk, including health and safety, data protection, complaints and safeguarding. Communicate relevant policies and procedures to staff, families and service users (as appropriate)

• Work with the CEO/Engagement Manager to ensure that Appeer CIC fulfils its duties and responsibilities associated with internal and external contracts and agreements

• Act as Appeer’s Data Controller for GDPR purposes

• Maintain the organisation’s Risk Register and coordinate a formal quarterly review  and report to the CEO

• Maintain accurate records and ensure robust reporting mechanisms are in place

• Act as the channel of communication with Appeer’s insurers and, legal advisers when issues arise, keeping the CEO and Board informed as necessary

Appeer is a Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to deliver services that support autistic girls and women (and those assigned female at birth) to connect with peers, to develop their life/work skills and to support their wellbeing.   Over the past 5 years our founder and current CEO has taken the vision of creating a community where autistic girls and women can connect from a small, passionate team into a robust and impactful organisation.

Location: Home Based with travel to Woking, Surrey, and surrounds for some meetings and Sessions

Contract: Permanent, 0.8-Full-time (negotiable based on candidate profile)

Summary of the role

The International Salesforce and Systems Project Manager will manage and coordinate the ongoing development of our Salesforce platform and associated integrations.  The role will also include support of other change projects where needed in the organization.

As a Salesforce expert and experienced project manager, the post holder will lead and participate in requirements gathering and discovery sessions, understanding organizational needs, defining and mapping requirements, drive user testing and helping to create user stories. Working Closely with their line manager - International Salesforce Developer and Product Owner (SDPO) - they will make sure the organizational requirements are correctly captured and defined, technical requirements are accurately translated, and any change requests follow a clear process.

They will have significant stakeholder management skills, working with staff of all levels across all our countries, as well as external companies, contractors, and third parties. They will lead meetings, manage stakeholder expectations, listen to users' needs, and accurately represent users.

With an understanding of Agile methodologies, UAT, Sprints, and project backlogs, they will be exceptional communicators and bring a proactive and efficient approach to their work.

Requirements for the role:

To be successful in the role you will need to be:

• Experienced project manager with a track record of successful project delivery using agile and traditional project methodologies
• Qualified Salesforce Administrator with proven experience
• Organized - able to project plan in detail, manage project backlogs, report on progress, manage change control processes, explain technical systems requirements in simple terms for non-experts
• Strong communicator able to engage with stakeholders at all levels (internally and externally) and report on project updates in an appropriate and timely manner
• Have experience in training preparation and delivery.
