About the International Parliamentary Network for Education

The International Parliamentary Network for Education (IPNEd) helps mobilise the political leadership necessary to accelerate quality education for all.

The Network consists of parliamentarians from around the world who are committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education - through increasing the funding, access and equity of education globally.

At IPNEd, we support parliamentarians to work individually and in partnership with other members of parliament to accelerate the achievement of SDG 4..

The IPNEd Secretariat is hosted by Results UK.

The Secretariat acts independently and reports to the Network’s Global Executive Committee, all of whom are parliamentarians.

Role description

The Parliamentary Advocacy Coordinator (Education) will work with both organisations, providing crucial support to the Results UK Education and IPNEd Teams. We are looking for someone who will be proactive, efficient and flexible in supporting our parliamentary advocacy work both in the UK and globally. Having a can-do attitude that includes the more administrative aspects of the role is essential. This post will provide good opportunities for developing project management and advocacy skills; an understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working with Parliaments and parliamentarians in the UK and globally.

We are looking for candidates with an interest in and passion for international development and education to address poverty, inequality and oppression.

Key responsibilities

Supporting the work of the Results UK education and IPNEd teams​

• Providing administrative support to the Results UK Education and IPNEd Teams and ensuring the smooth-running of internal processes that support the teams’ work, for example: contributing to the maintenance of the contact management systems and databases; supporting monitoring, learning and evaluation processes; tracking and communicating impact; engaging with external providers (e.g. report designers); managing procurement of translation services for events and meetings.

• Supporting political analysis for Results UK and IPNEd education teams to identify parliamentarians to work with as members of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Global Education in the UK and the IPNEd global network.
• Assisting with advocacy strategy  planning and implementation, for example: attending coalition meetings and identifying key opportunities to influence decision-makers.

• Assisting with organisation of virtual and in-person parliamentary events, including leading on logistical details and assisting in developing project plans and schedules.

• Project assistance and development, for example: assisting with briefings or delegation planning.

• Keeping up to date with current affairs that relate to Results UK and IPNEd’s work. In terms of Results UK, keeping up to date with UK politics and parliamentary affairs with a focus on global education. In terms of IPNEd, keeping up to date with international affairs relating to global education, with a focus on the role of parliamentarians in these issues. Identify parliamentary opportunities including parliamentary questions, debates and other advocacy opportunities.

Communications and media

• Support Results UK communications and contribute to activity and contribute content to Results UK’s website, blog and social media to help achieve our organisational objectives and strengthen our brand presence.

• Managing the APPG on Global Education Twitter Page and supporting APPG newsletters.

• Creating and sharing communications content for IPNEd including: social media content for  Twitter and LinkedIn; contributing to the IPNEd website; sending out communications to the network and writing content for the monthly IPNEd newsletter.

Working across the whole of Results UK

• Working with the Grassroots and Communications Team to ensure maximum impact between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the Education Team’s advocacy work.

• Representing Results UK and/or IPNEd as required at meetings with coalitions or partner organisations.

When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s mentoring service is there to help. We know that peer support can have a life changing impact and our Mentoring Coordinators are the ones who can facilitate this through matching them with a suitable mentor who will be able to support them over a series of phone calls to reach their goals.

In addition to creating mentoring relationships, as a Mentoring Coordinator you will support mentors and mentees as appropriate, assess mentee suitability and provide support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new mentors.

Mentoring Coordinators will be motivated to achieve the aims, targets and milestones that have been set in terms of making quality matches and will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

The Supported Accommodation Kickstart Futures service. currently supports young people across the London Boroughs of Sutton and Croydon, who are living either in specified semi-independent properties or elsewhere in the community.

Location of the post:

 You will be community based, so you would be expected to support and travel where the young people live covering Croydon and Sutton.

Hours

Full time – 37 hours.

The Ideal candidate will need:

• Experience of working with looked after children / care leavers and understanding of the accommodation needs of care leavers.
• Knowledge and understanding of the specific needs of young people leaving the care system.
• Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with children and young people.
• Knowledge/understanding of the needs of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking children and young people.
• Understanding benefits processes, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
• You will need to be a confident writer with analytical skills and experience in completing reports.

Some of the key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• The delivery of 1:1 keywork support to care leavers that meets their individual needs. Frequency of key work will be dependent on the support package of each young person.
• Development and delivery of weekly group work programmes for care leavers.
• Assessing young people's needs and agreeing a support plan for each young person in partnership with the Personal Advisor. Each plan will have clear milestones and outcomes to be.
• Taking appropriate referrals for the service.
• Producing quarterly monitoring reports and attending quarterly contract meetings as part of the quality assurance framework.

History of Service:

The Kickstart Futures service has been established to provide support to Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers and young people who have been trafficked, aged 18-25. We also support care leavers who are not from a forced migration background. The service launched in June 2020, initially supporting young people living in 1 semi-independent property in Sutton. We are currently providing support in 6 semi-independent properties in Sutton and Croydon, as well as within different community settings. We expect this service to continue to grow, and to provide support across an increasing number of properties.

Back Up’s vocation service aims to be the leader in supporting people with spinal cord injury to return to work and our Vocation Coordinators are the main point of contact to help service users reach their vocational goals. They work in partnership with spinal units and other stakeholders such as employers to raise aspirations, coordinating activities such as our Skills for Work courses and Careers Fair, as well as providing telephone support to service users.

Within the London Borough of Islington we run a comprehensive range of community based provision for survivors.  At the core is our Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) service which support those at the highest risk of harm.  We have a number of specialist roles and pan-borough project, which provide targeted support to providers and work closely in conjunction with partner services and work with over 500 survivors each year.

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional leader to lead on delivery of our community based support within the London Borough of Islington. These services include core IDVA teams and additional specialist roles, often supporting survivors at the point of crisis and highest risk. You will take a lead role in ensuring the high standards we set are achieved and identifying where and how we can make improvements. You will lead on development and maintenance of effective commissioning relationships and be able to identify and develop opportunities for service enhancement and growth. 

About You

You will have leadership experience in a VAWG or other service delivery organisation which includes management of different service elements. You will be comfortable with managing risk and a calm, reflective operational leader able to support staff who are often working in crisis response mode.  You will have used your experience of working in a service delivery environment to identify and implement service improvements. You will have good data literacy and eye for detail, particularly around service utilisation and reporting.

About the role:

When a family member has a spinal cord injury, it can be difficult to acknowledge and accept that their injury will affect you too.

You might find it difficult to express and share how you have been affected by these events, especially to your loved one with the injury. Overwhelming feelings of guilt, helplessness, confusion and isolation are very common. 

Back Up’s Family Support team are there to help. Right from the point of injury, our Family Support Coordinators work together with the family and the injured person to create their own ‘Family Plan’ - making sure they have access to information and support throughout the rehabilitation journey.

As a Family Support Coordinator, you will build relationships with professionals to encourage referrals and manage a caseload. Sightsavers is looking for a Head of Institutional Funding - a vital role within our expanding institutional funding team to lead the development and implementation of a portfolio of work currently focused on West Africa and lead on the development of strategic partnerships with individual institutional donors

We are looking for an experienced institutional funding expert to lead and manage a busy portfolio. This is a role in which the successful candidate will need to juggle multiple and complex projects. Key duties will include:

• Leading the development and implementation of a portfolio of work within the institutional funding team (IFT) currently focused on West Africa (17 Anglophone, Francophone and Lusophone countries), and lead on the development of strategic partnerships with individual institutional donors as prioritised.
• Providing direct line management and strategic support to a sub-team within IFT, that will support continued income growth and contract management, in line with the Institutional Funding strategy.
• Managing existing grant / contracts falling within the remit of this role and secure new income to the organisation.
• Supporting programme learning and capacity building of country office teams and partners and to deputise for the Director of Institutional Funding

This role is involved and multi-faceted with regular meetings across the organisation. This is a full-time role that may be worked from home for the majority of the time however some visits to our offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex (RH16 3BW) will be required. On average this is likely to be twice per year. If you prefer to work from or are visiting our collaborative, modern office space, you will find it an easy 20-minute train journey from Brighton or 45 minutes from London. Programme travel to West Africa and other locations will also be necessary - we anticipate approximately three trips per year, usually of one week each.

The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, and/or grant-making organisation. They demonstrate knowledge and experience in charity/nonprofit administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They have experience dealing with administrative processes and office administration, especially in a non-profit, remote organisation. They will have skills to give, receive and work with feedback constructively. They must be meticulous with exceptionally strong follow-up and follow-through skills and have the ability to work under high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines. They should have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies with experience working with diverse communities from multiple identities across the globe, in a virtual environment.

The Role

Lead Policy Analyst - Climate

Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours per week

Location: The role can be based in London, UK, or one of the following WaterAid Country Programmes: Kenya, South Africa, United States, Sweden, and Ethiopia (subject to right-to-work eligibility in the respective countries).

As Lead Policy Analyst-Climate, you will be a senior member of WaterAid's Global Policy and Research team. You will lead in developing informed WaterAid positions and options on building the resilience of WASH services to climate change; advocate for WASH as a key adaptation measure and contributor to stronger and more efficient systems; and highlight the urgent need for WASH services as worthy of consideration in climate financing.2

You'll also:

• Develop top-notch research initiatives and robust policy responses to the challenges presented by climate change and advocate for resilient WASH as a key adaptation measure;
• Lead in developing and implementing WaterAid climate resilient WASH influencing and thought leadership agenda;

• Experienced in working in public policy and advocacy on issues related to climate change with an extensive personal network in the climate action arena;
