Introduction
Working within the Central Secretariat, the Safeguarding Structures Programme Director will lead a programme team to implement the new independent structures for the Church of England's safeguarding function.
About the Department
The Central Secretariat provides support to many of the governance bodies of the Church of England, including the General Synod, House of Bishops, Archbishops' Council and others. It also provides policy analysis and support on internal matters relating to the structure and governance of the Church of England.
What you'll be doing
The purpose of this role is to deliver the General Synod's motion of February 2025 to design, develop and deliver independent scrutiny of Church safeguarding and such operations as the Synod decides. It needs to do so in a way that brings stakeholders - victims and survivors, safeguarding staff across the Church, trustees and others - along with them, with a focus on delivering a system of safeguarding that commands greater confidence. And it needs to do so working through an executive chair and lead bishop.
You will lead a programme team that is in the process of being formed, and you'll report to the Director of the Central Secretariat, whilst also working through an Executive Chair (currently being recruited), the lead bishop for safeguarding and a Programme Board, and maintaining the confidence of the wider Church of England, including the General Synod, the House of Bishops and others.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the programme team to deliver an ambitious programme of policy development, legislation, restructure and new service development, being accountable for ensuring the programme meets objectives , delivers outcomes and realises benefits
- Support the Executive Chair and lead bishop to deliver the mandate of General Synod (February 2025) regarding the future of Church of England safeguarding - maintaining their confidence and engagement at all times, building a relationship of trust and collaboration.
- Lead the team to deliver the change:
- Design the change - agreeing the new models for scrutiny/complaints and operations
- Secure buy-in to the change - including from governance bodies, the General Synod, and other stakeholders
- Execute the change through a mixture of legislative, contractual and other arrangements; and
- Embed the change - through the communications, engagement, planning etc that will enable the programme to deliver the benefits
- Maintain excellent programme governance - both ensuring the programme is well-run, with appropriate internal governance (plans, resource management, risk management) and reports effectively to the Programme Board, and to governance bodies
- Develop excellent engagement with safeguarding staff and leaders across the Church
- Ensure that the proposals are designed from the user perspective - with a particular focus on victims, survivors and parish safeguarding officers
- Lead, support, encourage and manage, the programme team of approximately 6-8 people
- Develop key messaging and strategic engagement , overseeing internal and external engagement
- Equip and enable the lead bishop and Executive Chair to be effective senior sponsors and externally facing change champions, ensuring that they are fully briefed on all developments and properly supported prepared for their meetings.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to have substantial experience of delivering complex organisational change programmes, along with a strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice. You'll need to be confident in leading substantial change programmes that are subject to intense public scrutiny. You will be values-led, promoting integrity and transparency in all aspects of your work in order to build and maintain the trust and confidence of a broad range of stakeholders.
Along with a recognised Programme Management accreditation (e.g. APM, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent), you will also need to demonstrate:
- The ability to create the vision and a sense of the destination, and also to engage in the precise details of what needs to happen to deliver it;
- A track record of engaging with people who are impacted by substantial change;
- Ability and experience of working collaboratively with a programme team and wider stakeholders to achieve success
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders to deliver, and capacity to work with an Executive Chair and lead bishop or similar.
- A salary of 82,157 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any salary-sacrifice pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting KCLSU's finance operations, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across the organisation.
Main Tasks
- Process and reconcile purchase invoices, sales invoices, and supplier payments, maintaining accurate ledgers.

About the Role
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and updating all property and resident accounts on the rental ledger system and for ensuring that rental income in correctly reflected on both the rent and finance systems on a timely basis.
You will work closely with project staff and housing benefit departments regarding rental income queries and ensure that rental income is received in accordance with the charity’s internal financial controls and all legal regulatory requirements are complied with. As Assistant Donation Hub Manager, your primary purpose is to support the efficient and effective operation of our Donations Hub, ensuring that all incoming stock is sorted, processed, and distributed in line with the needs of our retail and ecommerce operations.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager to manage a complex and varied stock flow coming from multiple sources - including in-store donations, house clearances, home collections, corporate and community events, and direct drop-offs from the public. A key part of your role will be to ensure these donations are processed efficiently, assessed for maximum value, and appropriately segmented to drive income across our 14 shops and online platforms.
This is a highly practical and physical role that requires strong organisational skills and a deep understanding of operational logistics. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely fulfilment of shop orders, maintaining high standards of stock quality by both sorting incoming donations from shops, allocating corporate donations and supporting the movement and dispatch of goods in a way that maximises efficiency and minimises waste.
You’ll lead day-to-day activities in the hub, supervising volunteers and working collaboratively with drivers to deliver an excellent internal service to shop teams. You will also act as a key support for community-facing donation activity - helping to deliver excellent service during home collections, managing local donor interactions at the warehouse, and assisting with the logistics of house clearances.
Flexibility will be vital, as the role will operate across a seven-day rota and may require you to deputise for the Operations Manager or drivers when needed. Experience in a charity retail setting, excellent customer service and relationship-building skills, and a general understanding of charity retail would be a distinct advantage. A full UK driving licence is also highly desirable.

Role Responsibilities
· Support the day-to-day running of the donation hub, ensuring a smooth, accurate and timely flow of donations through the hub
· Oversee and participate in the physical sorting, quality checking, and categorising of stock in line with stock standards and retail priorities
· Prepare and fulfil stock requests from shops and ecommerce channels, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch
· Maintain clear, efficient systems for inventory tracking and stock distribution
· Deputise for the Operations Manager as required, supporting wider operational priorities
· Ensure all machinery and warehouse equipment is fit for purpose, reporting faults and maintaining safety standards
· Coordinate with drivers and retail staff to organise timely deliveries, collections, and transfers between locations
· Step in to cover driving duties as required (subject to driving licence)
· Load vans safely and efficiently, ensuring optimal routing for stock movement
· Maintain roadworthiness and cleanliness of retail vehicles, completing regular checks and liaising on repairs or servicing

Person specification
Desirable skills, knowledge & experience
· Previous experience in a warehouse, stockroom, logistics or charity retail environment
· Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising volunteers or small teams
· Excellent organisational and time management skills
· Ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment with changing demands
· Comfortable with physical work including lifting, sorting and operating equipment
· Strong IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, ability to learn existing systems)
· Managing multiple workstreams and deadlines.
Qualifications
· Full UK manual driving licence
· GCSE C or equivalent in Mathematics and English

About the Role
In brief, this role involves working alongside the International Liaison Officer for Dialogue on Human Sexuality and the Researcher & Strategist for Human Sexuality where you will provide Admin support to this busy section. The section connects with the 61 Territories around the world and provides support, training and resources. The admin assistant will assist this small team in working effectively and will support the goal to bring dialogue on human sexuality in the countries in which we work.
The section promotes the use of resources as well as updating and writing new materials. The admin assistant will also assist the Researcher & Strategist with research projects using Survey Monkey as well as engaging in the writing and presentation of documents relating to strategy.

The successful candidate will have:
