About us:
Our vision at Bluebell Wood is for every baby, child and young person with a life limiting condition to access specialist palliative care, where and when they need it. You will join our fantastic team where we all play our part in achieving our vision and creating an incredible culture for everyone.
Our services:
Our uncompromisable support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family. We provide symptom management, end-of-life care, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and more.
We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use.
Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity.

As a trustee, you'll play a vital role in helping us deliver our mission. You'll be part of a dedicated board that:

- Overseas our finances and governance, making sure we use our resources wisely and legally.
- Supports and constructively challenges our leadership team to help us grow and improve.

The Vacancy:
Emersons Green Village Hall is seeking to recruit a Chair of Trustees to build upon our success to date, provide visionary strategic leadership and steer the charity through its next stage of development and growth.
This is a voluntary role with a minimum time commitment of approximately five hours per month. We have up to six scheduled bi-monthly Board Meetings, which last up to two hours and are usually held on Tuesday evenings. In addition we have Committee Meetings to deal with faniances and operations, plus our AGM. Meetings are held via Miscrosoft Teams or in-person at Emersons Green Village Hall.
The Role of the Chair:
The Chair’s role is to lead the Board of Trustees, providing strategic oversight and governance, and creating a positive and inclusive culture. The Chair will be actively leading on shaping the future of our Hall, developing the business, and setting its strategic direction to ensure financial viability for the future.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a wide variety of skills who can be an enabler to oversee the charity and build on the progress we have made to date. Ideally you will have experience of being a Trustee. We are also looking for individuals with leadership, management, and organisational development skills. Experience in the voluntary sector, community facilities or running community projects would also be beneficial.
As a ‘hands-on’ Chair, you will bring your experience and skills to the role and will be supported by the Trustee Board, plus an established staff team including the Hall and Events Manager, plus the Treasurer and Company Secretary.

About Emersons Green Village Hall:
Emersons Green Village Hall is a charity which runs the community centre with the same name. Our aim is to be at the heart of the community. We run our own events and activities and hire out our rooms.

What will you be doing?
EMAT needs a committed and enthusiastic trustee, with experience in holding senior leaders to account whilst sharing their professional experience and expertise. Our recent skills audit shows our board to have a broad and deep skill base and we are now looking to build upon that with colleagues that have specific interest and or experience in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and / or Safeguarding.

About the Role
The Charity Secretary plays a key part in supporting the governance and smooth running of our Board, including.
- Liaising with the chair in arranging meetings, agendas and papers, taking minutes and administration of meetings and record keeping.
- Assisting with the induction of new trustees.
- Coordinate and organise other meetings as required, such as AGMs and EGMs.

Seeking a Trustee Director for The Retreat Clinics. We have delivered mental health treatment and care for over 200 years, and we are still governed by Quaker Values. We offer psychological therapies and assessments for Autism and ADHD, both online and from our home base in York and our offices in Manchester.
Following major changes in our structure, we are now refreshing our strategy and business plan to better meet the needs of young people and adults through in-person and online assessment and talking therapy, supported by prescribing and shared care. We hold an NHS contract and also offer privately funded care.

We are seeking at least two new Trustees to oversee our charity. We offer professional, confidential and affordable counselling to individuals in and around SW London. Our team come from local churches and operate within a Christian ethos.
We want to increase the strength of our Board - currently we are overseen by only three Trustees, due to recent departures, but want to increase this to our target of 5-6 trustees. As well as providing support to the team in delivering high quality and accessible counselling services and ensuring the Charity meets its financial responsibilities, we are looking for someone to contribute to strategic oversight and effective governance.

Our new Trustees will bring complementary skills to our Board. Specifically, we are looking for people with insight into charity governance and development, strategic vision and financial oversight.
Our new Trustees will ensure that our charity is well-governed, that quality is maintained and that those who work in the charity are well-supported. They will ensure that we keep client well-being at the heart of all we do.
They will look at new opportunities for development of the Trust, particularly at how we move on from reliance on a small management team who work voluntarily to a more resilient management model. They will ensure that new opportunities are strategically reviewed and considered.
They will ensure that we remain financially viable and have a sound operating model.
What skills, experience and qualities should you have?
Our new Trustees will bring complementary skills to our Board. Specifically, we are looking for people with skills in one or several of three areas:
1. charity governance and leadership,
2. strategic planning, to take the Trust forward into a new era
3. finance, to ensure our financial management and forward planning is optimised to achieve the objectives of the charity
Our new Trustees will share our values, especially our belief in the value of high-quality counselling with good clinical governance for client benefit. Our Christian ethos underlies who we are and we expect our new Trustees to share that ethos and see good counselling as a way to live out our christian values in our community.
Lived experience of or clinical practice in the field of mental health would be welcomed to enable greater insight into our counselling work.

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious trustee with the fundraising insight and strategic vision to help Connect: North Korea continue our growth from a small community start-up into a high-impact, sustainable international organisation. As we scale our programmes and deepen our impact, we’re looking for a trustee with a strong understanding of fundraising strategy, who can help shape our approach, promote our mission through their networks, and help us drive change for North Korean escapees.
If you have a background in fundraising, this is an excellent opportunity to play a highly rewarding role in supporting our mission. As part of a tightly knit and ambitious Board, you will provide strategic oversight of our governance, act as a spokesperson and ambassador for our work, help drive income generation through your networks and relationship-building skills, offer strategic advice and support to the senior management team, and foster a collaborative and effective governance environment. JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Fundraising Trustee
LOCATION: Remote / 78 Coombe Road, New Malden, KT3 4QS
We usually hold board meetings online, but this is open to change.
COMMITMENT: 2 – 3 hours per month. We hold one annual away day we’d expect the board to attend.
Our Board meets every quarter for 2 hours. There is expected support between meetings. Our terms are capped at 3 years with potential for renewal for one additional term.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to good governance and strategic decision-making, ensuring the Board fulfils its responsibilities in line with our constitution, governance framework, and applicable legislation.

Provide strategic leadership on fundraising and income generation, helping to shape Connect: North Korea’s strategy and approach to sustainable growth.

Use your networks and influence to promote the charity’s mission, opening doors to potential donors, partners, and advocates.

Act as an ambassador and spokesperson for Connect: North Korea in relevant sectors and philanthropic circles.

Contribute to Board discussions on financial planning and sustainability, ensuring that fundraising targets and strategic objectives are aligned.

Champion a culture of philanthropy and external engagement across the organisation.

Work collaboratively with fellow trustees and the Chair to maintain a supportive, ambitious, and effective governance environment.

Ensure that there are effective financial management processes in place and that the charity is financially sustainable.

Work with the CEO to set and monitor organisational/risk KPIs.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior strategic fundraising role in a professional setting.

Well-networked and exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities and be comfortable in an ambassadorial role.

Leverage a well-developed network to strengthen engagement, awareness, and support for our mission.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills with proven ability to foster and promote a collaborative team environment

Must align with our values and have proven understanding of the issues facing refugees and asylum-seekers.
Be able to make difficult decisions, negotiate challenging conversations, and be able to balance competing interests

Experience of governance of a charity or public sector organisation with a good understanding of charity finance and governance issues.

Have the ability to think strategically and be able to work effectively with the organisation's senior management team, staff and volunteers.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE

Lived experience of migration or of a refugee background is highly desirable.
