Volunteer role: Phone Operator Assistant - Volunteer
Hours : Minimum of 1 day a week (hours negotiable)

Job Role Summary

As a volunteer phone operator assistant, you will help with answering incoming calls and handle a range of enquiries from Carers. You will be working closely with staff and other volunteers.
With training, you will:
- Answer incoming calls
- Help with queries
- Record information on our database (Charity Log)
- Transfer calls to the relevant staff member
- Book carers onto activities
- Schedule call backs
- Signpost carers to relevant organisations that provides services that Camden Carers does not provide.
Every day a staff member will be available to support you with any calls you’re unsure about. Your will make a difference by helping carers get the support they need.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Answering Incoming Calls:
· Maintain professional boundaries
· Observe and comply with our GDPR and confidentiality policies
· Work alongside Camden Carers Staff and volunteers to manage incoming calls and enquiries
· Accurate data entry in database (Charity Log)
· Provide carers with information about Camden Carers and the services available
· Refer carers to relevant services internally or externally
· Follow Camden Carers’ policies and procedures
Security and data:
· Attend relevant GDPR training
· Assist in ensuring database records are up to date and accurate
Note: All volunteers are expected to be flexible in undertaking the duties and responsibilities attached to their post and may be asked to perform other duties and comply with our GDPR guidelines at all times.

Perinatal Support Volunteers provide one-to-one support to parents during pregnancy and up to nine months after the birth. These parents either have mental health issues or are at risk of developing them.
Perinatal Support Volunteers visit these families once a week (usually weekdays during working hours) for 2-3 hours, providing emotional support and practical help in the family’s home or local community. Support is aimed at empowering parents and building resilience beyond the support period.
The type of support Perinatal Support Volunteers provide to parents may include:
- An empathetic and non-judgemental listening ear
- Support to prepare for parenthood
- Support to build confidence in parenting skills
- Support to develop a positive relationship with their infant
- Support to establish daily and weekly routines
- Support to take time for self-care
- Support to manage the things that are causing stress
- Support to access relevant services
- Support to access local green spaces
- Support to make connections with other parents
No special qualifications are necessary to become a Perinatal Support Volunteer, but Home-Start volunteers are usually either parents or grandparents themselves, or people with experience of young children and family life. We particularly welcome volunteers with lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges.

The Community Support/Reach Out volunteer will be volunteering remotely, providing online support and guidance to visitors of The Forward Trust Website communicating in real time using web chat.
The Reach Out Service sits within our Recovery Support Department and is aimed at offering friendly and confidential listening support and assistance. The role involves utilising your communication skills to establish rapport with individuals seeking drug and alcohol help and or to talk about their mental health or other varied life challenges. You will be supporting people who are seeking help for drugs and alcohol help for themselves or from family members concerned for their loved one.
Training is provided to all volunteers to support them with their volunteering role and enable them to further their skills and experience with our client group.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Time Commitment: We recommend that volunteers can commit to an average of 3 hours online per week for a minimum period of six months.
Service Delivery
- Be available for the duration of the shift to answer web-chat/calls as they happen.
- Engage with individuals in a friendly and empathetic manner.
- Gain an understanding of the individual needs and sign post to appropriate organisations for further support or explore specialist services as required.
- Link individuals into Forward Trusts community drug and alcohol services when required and link individuals into drug and alcohol help in other geographical areas where Forward Trust does not have a service.
- Report any Safeguarding concerns to shift supervisor and follow safeguarding procedures as appropriate.
- Respond to offline messages at the beginning of each shift.
- Debrief with and ask for support and guidance from Reach Out Coordinator regarding any concerns arising from web chat conversations.
- Provide handover to supervisor and/or next volunteers covering the shift prior to logging off
- To book shifts in a timely fashion and inform the Reach Out Coordinator of any need to cancel a shift at the earliest opportunity.
- Engage with support and supervision offered by placement supervisor.

Induction training will be provided to the volunteer and will include the following E-Learning (Data Protection/GDPR/PECR, Safeguarding – Knowledge and Health & Safety – Knowledge).
A full induction to your team including placement specific policies and procedures. Additional volunteer training will be discussed and offered according to the need of the volunteer in placement.

The Role
As a Flyer Distributor you will play a crucial role in helping to raise awareness about our services and events within the Enfield community. You will be responsible for disseminating promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and event announcements to various locations within the Enfield area.
- Distribute promotional materials provided by Age UK Enfield to designated locations across the Enfield area. This may include community centers, libraries, local businesses, healthcare facilities, and other relevant locations.
- Engage with members of the public in a friendly and courteous manner while distributing flyers. Answer any questions they may have about Age UK Enfield's services and provide basic information about upcoming events or initiatives.
- Keep accurate records of the locations visited and the quantity of promotional materials distributed. Report back to the supervisor on to provide updates on distribution progress.
- Act as an ambassador for Age UK Enfield by promoting the organisation's mission, values, and services to the community. Help to increase brand recognition and visibility within the local area.
General Key Skills:

About the role
The trustee will support the board, the CEO the Head of HR and wider senior team with advice, guidance and sharing their experiences specifically related to:
• Contributing to existing projects.

• Assisting the tendering process for existing and new contracts.

Time commitment
The anticipated time commitment for a Trustee is up to a day a month. Approximately 2-3 hours per month in person, and then 2-3 hours of supporting with projects which can be from home.
Trustee positions are not paid but travel and subsistence expenses are reimbursed.
