Job description

The Talent Set are working exclusively with Action on Hearing Loss to recruit a Content Designer to join their team of UX specialists who lead on the design and development of their products, services and user experiences. Working with the UX content lead, you’ll use evidence, data and research, taking a user-centred approach, to create content that meets audience needs and grows impact.

The UX team at Action on Hearing Loss brings together design, content and product management. They support and encourage collaboration, self-organisation and continuous improvement in a test-and-learn environment. Working together, across teams and with external subject experts, to meet the differing needs of deaf people and those who have hearing loss or tinnitus, they work to a UX strategy and roadmap.

As a key member of the UX team, you will build relationships across the charity, supporting teams to achieve their objectives, championing the principles of inclusive design, creating content that’s easy to find and understand, and user journeys that are quick and simple. You will also provide training and guidance to content creators across the charity, promoting best practice in content design.

Main responsibilities include:

Needs Analysis

  • Engaging with users and stakeholders to identify user needs, using online or face-to-face user research methods.
  • Using analytics, user feedback, user research and other sources of information to identify new user needs.
  • Assisting with the facilitation of discovery workshops to map user journeys.

User-Centred Content Creation

  • Designing content to meet evidenced user needs, using insight to define the scope and format.
  • Delivering content assets that are accurate, timely, on brand and high-quality (based on insight, relevant to the audience and easily understood,).
  • Monitoring the performance of content and identifying ways to iteratively improve it.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Collaborating effectively with different teams to support them to meet their goals, while also meeting user needs.
  • Managing relationships with subject matter experts to make sure web content is accurate and regularly reviewed in line with our governance framework.

Website Content Management

  • Publishing reactive and planned updates to the Action on Hearing Loss website.
  • Reviewing web content before publication, as part of the CMS (Wordpress) workflow, making sure it supports and advances our standards for style, governance and user experience.
  • Setting up and monitoring testing and user feedback tools on the website, with the support of others in the UX team.

Training & Support

  • Delivering training to help embed new processes for content creation within teams across Action on Hearing Loss.

Please note this is a remote, home-based role. Action on Hearing Loss have recently made the decision to enable remote working for all of their team, with a base in London for those that wish to utilise it.

We look forward to receiving CVs from passionate content experts, please contact Heather at The Talent Set for further information about the role.

*Please note as we are working exclusively with Action on Hearing Loss any third party CVs will be forwarded to The Talent Set for review*
