Our Work Experience programme provides a taster of the ‘World of Work’ helping to raise career aspirations and support academic progression for young people.  Our team work with local and central London employers and education providers to source, manage and co-ordinate placements for over 5,000 young people each academic year.

We’re looking for a Pets and Housing Development Lead, who will play a pivotal role in our projects, which strive to ensure owners and their pets stay together during difficult times.

What does this role do?

As Pets and Housing Development Lead, you’ll:

• manage the continuous development of our Pets and Housing services and projects, including leading on a critical new project moving our data to Salesforce,
• cultivate and maintain key external relationships, such as engaging veterinary practices signed up to our schemes or other organisations in the sector that we partner with,
• develop and create social media content to build the online presence our services have,
• work closely with the PR team to promote our services, from writing press releases to carrying out interviews, to ensure our work reaches the audiences where it can have the most impact.

Please note, this role is being offered as a fixed term, family leave cover contract until October 2026.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need some experience of project management, as you’ll be working on some big projects that require significant planning and stakeholder management. Excellent communication skills are key, with the ability to build relationships and rapport with external and internal stakeholders at all levels. A strong understanding of social media, PR and online search engine optimisation would be very helpful. Above all, being passionate about the work we do for pets and their owners is essential.

What does this team do?

The outreach department supports people and dogs in crisis, such as those escaping domestic abuse or experiencing homelessness. These specialist services reduce the need for someone to unnecessarily relinquish or euthanise their dog due to the crisis they may be facing. They include Freedom, a specialist dog fostering service for people fleeing domestic abuse, and Pets and Housing projects that support people and their dogs experiencing homelessness and advocating for people to be accommodated with their pets at all stages of their housing journey.

This is a fundamental role within our South regional team, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer.

The successful applicant will be required to attend all Trustee meetings (around 7 a year), which are generally held in the evening (usually online, but occasionally in person) and some travel will be necessary to visit grant holders and other stakeholders.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Fundraiser to join our friendly team. We seek someone who feels passionately about our mission, to help us to drive income and ensure Success Club can continue to change lives, by building strong engagement with our donors and fundraisers. You will build on our past successes by managing existing relationships with, and making new grant-applications to Trusts and Foundations. We are a small core team and ideas are welcomed! You will identify new avenues for fundraising, and help us explore a growing portfolio of community support, to ensure the best possible experience for individual supporters and donors.

As Fundraiser, you’ll be the first point of contact for all inbound fundraising enquiries—whether by email, phone or at in-person events. You will nurture relationships with our existing individual and corporate supporters and identify and cultivate prospective donors.

You’ll be proactive and organised, passionate about delivering outstanding supporter experiences, and will have a strong understanding of the charity sector. Familiarity with fundraising databases or CRMs is also a plus.

The role will involve representing Success Club at occasional meetings and events, where you’ll be well supported by our existing team of Trustees and the CEO & Business and Operations Manager. There may be occasional out-of-hours work required. You’ll be a strong communicator and natural networker who enjoys building relationships and presenting.

Measures of Success

■ Strategic Communications – Delivering compelling, high-quality written applications, proposals, and reports to funders, alongside excellent verbal communication with stakeholders and partners.

■ Supporter Stewardship – Proactively identifying and cultivating relationships with high-value supporters, including trusts, foundations, and corporate sponsors, to increase engagement and secure long-term support.

■ Bid Development – Writing successful funding bids and grant applications that align with funder priorities and Success Club’s mission, achieving or exceeding income targets.

■ CRM/Data – Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of donor interactions, applications, and outcomes in line with GDPR, enabling effective pipeline management.

■ Events & Representation – Attending and supporting community, corporate and networking events to raise the charity’s profile and create new funding opportunities.

Fundraising Executive Responsibilities

■ Deliver Against Fundraising Targets – You will work to a pre-agreed fundraising target, with a focus on generating income through writing high-quality funding applications to trusts, foundations, and corporate partners.

■ Be a Welcoming First Point of Contact – Provide a professional and helpful response to all supporter and donor enquiries across phone, email, and in-person interactions.

■ Individual Donor Strategy Development – Design and implement innovative and tailored supporter journeys to retain and grow donor engagement, particularly for high-value funders.

■ Third-Party Fundraising – Act as the key contact for all independent fundraising initiatives and offer advice and tools to maximise their success.

■ Reporting – Produce regular and accurate fundraising performance and pipeline reports for internal use and funder updates.

■ Funding Applications – Take the lead on writing compelling, well-researched funding bids to trusts, foundations and corporate partners, including tailored proposals, reports, and budgets.

■ Represent Success Club – As required, attend meetings, relevant seminars, pitches, and external events to represent the charity, network with potential funders, and raise organisational visibility.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead on the launch of a new RG proposition and ensure that the onboarding and onward journey is fit for purpose.

• Look for opportunities to thank our donors and communicate impact at key moments. 

• Work with key stakeholders to ensure we grow our Regular Giving file, through acquisition as well as retention.

• Manage a variety of individual giving fundraising campaigns, from agency briefing, through to launch, meeting six figure campaign targets. 

• Work with digital fundraising colleagues to create integrated, multichannel campaigns and an effective, donor-first giving journey. 

• Remain flexible and rapidly respond to emergency situations. 

• Work with the Data team to identify the best approach to data and segmentation for each project.

• Manage production processes, developing supplier briefs and managing approval stages and end of campaign reviews. 

• Manage donor research and mystery shopping as required, using insights to inform creative decisions. 

• Manage campaign fulfilment. Monitor responses to identify issues and opportunities. 

• From time-to-time support with Donor Care activities if required.

• Ensure cost effective fundraising, manage individual campaign budgets and identify opportunities to improve ROIs. 

• Stay up to date with issues affecting displaced & refugee communities, campaigns from international teams and reports from the field. Scope new fundraising themes. 

• Share creative and insights with UK colleagues, global markets and HQ, participating in training seminars, workshops and international skill shares where applicable.

You will work closely with our regional and country teams to ensure contract delivery in line with objectives, and overall compliance with donor and MAG requirements. Reporting to the Director of Programmes, you will directly support on day-to-day incident management, as well as acting as a focal point ensuring coordinated, timely, and appropriate support to programmes from other departments. You will be a senior humanitarian professional with significant experience working in an NGO with a focus on international programme management and delivery across multiple country contexts. You will be experienced in the critical assessment, development, and implementation of management structures and systems designed to improve overall delivery of activities. You will be an excellent communicator, with significant experience coordinating programme delivery and support functions including human resource management, logistics and procurement, finance and compliance. You will be a strategic leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate and influence to drive change. You will be ready to travel internationally, including to insecure and conflict-affected areas, and have a solid understanding of geopolitical dynamics and their security impact. Ultimately you will be proactive, tenacious, pragmatic, and committed to MAG’s mission, values, and approach.
