As a Youth Development Lead – Enterprise, your mission is to be the driving force behind young entrepreneurs' success stories. The Enterprise programme’s aim is to support young people interested in self-employment to explore and test their ideas, write business plans and start their own businesses or achieve alternative outcomes in education, training, volunteering or work.

You'll be the guiding light for a caseload of young people, helping them successfully launch their business ideas and work towards those vital business start targets. We also won’t have you sitting still as travel will be required, exploring your local area to assist in the programme delivery of our Exploring Enterprise course as needed. The Role
Be the first point of contact for all donor, retail, and membership enquiries by phone, letter or email and responding to these in a timely manner.

The Candidate

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. 

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports around 3,600 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 170 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will monitor and manage the receipt of referrals from Probation through the Customer Approved System (CAS) and ensure all inputting is accurate and within agreed timescales and provide regular activity reports to the Wellbeing Manager.  You will act as the primary point of contact for all enquiries, external and internal, to ensure communication channels are clear and effective, while also liaising with external stakeholders (such as prisons), delivery partners, spot purchase providers and other agencies to arrange appointments, referrals, and generally ensure information exchanged is done in a clear, timely and effective manner.

We will also count on you to develop and maintain processes for recording and monitoring resource allocation such as staff and volunteer expenses, spot purchase expenditure, training and provide regular reports to the Wellbeing Manager, plus provide administration for meetings, including bookings, invitations and minute-taking.  Proactively adopting a learning approach to the role, improving skills and knowledge to continue providing a high-quality service for service users is also a key element of this role.

• The ability to manage their workload including prioritising tasks and communicating with colleagues where delegation or allocation is required.

Now, we are looking for a warm, adaptable Receptionist Administrator who can confidently handle a wide variety of tasks while being the welcoming face of the charity. 

What we do:  

We support survivors through personalised, one-to-one help from our amazing team of trained staff, volunteer caseworkers, and counsellors. We also connect people to local services, support networks, and community programmes, depending on what they need.  

Our team helps turn houses into homes by decorating, painting, and finding essential furniture for those moving into council-provided housing.  

We also share our knowledge through training and workshops with other charities, businesses, and organisations working in this field—helping to build a better understanding of trafficking and how to support survivors well.  

To keep our work going, we raise money through events, donations, and sponsorships. We also contribute to national research and working groups so that survivors’ voices are heard and included in future policies and practices.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Reception Duties:

Administrative Duties:  

This person will play a key role in administering certain financial duties and assisting the Head of Finance and Resource with their reporting duties, keeping the organisation running in a smooth and efficient manner.

To work with the team to coordinate excellent service delivery and support for volunteers and service users in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Snowdrop Project. As Finance Director, you will work closely and collaboratively with Amit Sharma (Artistic Director/ CEO) and Iain Goosey (Executive Director), supporting them as they lead Kiln Theatre through a period of transition and growth. As a key member of the Senior Team, the Finance Director will be responsible for Kiln Theatre's financial health and for ensuring that effective controls are in place and that all regulatory requirements are met.
