Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF) is a charity that builds thriving communities through effective philanthropy, matching investment to the needs of small charitable groups. We fund around 200 grassroots organisations each year, giving around £2m annually to tackle priority issues. The role
The Financial Accountant will report to the CEO and be part of our small management team. They will oversee our finances as we seek to scale up our grant-making while maintaining our high-quality assurance processes. They will also be responsible for providing scrutiny and a strategic eye to the management of our endowment. A small but important element of the role will be oversight of OCF’s cybersecurity. The successful candidate will combine a rigorous eye for technical detail with long-term thinking and a passion for our mission.
Accountable to: CEO
Key relationships: Treasurer, Chair of Finance Committee, Chair of Trustees, staff team and trustees and OCF fundholders.
Salary: £55,000 (full time equivalent) subject to negotiation for the right candidate.
Hours: 0.6 FTE (21 hours a week, which can be spread flexibly across the week)
Type of contract: Permanent.
Other benefits: 3% pension (increasing to 5% after five years). 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (FTE); additional paid leave for Christmas week office closure; 5 paid volunteering days (FTE).

Responsibilities
· Accountable for producing the Annual Report and Financial Statements in accordance with the Charity SORP, and being primary contact for the auditors.
· Preparation of annual budget and forecast, quarterly financial reports and monthly management accounts and updated forecasts.
· Maintain the detailed records of the endowment and restricted funds on a monthly basis. Oversee accurate statements for fundholders and provide ad hoc reports and analysis as required.
· Responsible for maintaining strong financial systems to provide accurate financial records and control systems for OCF, working closely with the Development and Grants teams to ensure complete alignment between internal systems (eg SAGE and Salesforce).
· Responsible for ensuring the Finance Committee is effectively supported, including: agenda and minutes, the production of timely reports, following up on actions and ensuring compliance with Charity Commission, HMRC Gift Aid and other reporting requirements.
· Liaise with OCF’s Investment Fund Managers (currently CCLA and Brompton Asset Management) and work with the Finance Committee to ensure performance is maximised.
· Monitor cash balances and ensure OCF is getting value for money on its cash.
· Management and development of a Finance Officer
· Oversight of effective delivery of all financial transactions, bank accounts, cash flow, bank reconciliations and staff payroll; includes oversight of checking the accounts for potential grant recipients.
· Bring to the early attention of the CEO and Chair of Finance Committee any matters of concern and risk in relation to the finances of OCF, and provide financial advice on mitigating actions.
· Maintain cybersecurity and insurance to meet operational requirements, and provide oversight to ensure OCF contracts are value for money.
Key competencies
· ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified and membership of one of the major UK accountancy bodies
· Experience of charity accounting and knowledge of best practice
· A proven track record of financial management in a an organisation with significant turnover understanding of restricted spend-down funds and endowments
· Experience in accounting software – preferably SAGE – with good computer literacy, including MS Excel and ideally CRM systems such as Salesforce
· Ability to think strategically in financial matters and identify areas of risk and opportunity, and to implement improvements working with colleagues.
· Good communication skills, particularly with the ability to explain financial data to a generalist audience of senior decision-makers.
· Commitment to the mission and values of the Oxfordshire Community Foundation
· Commitment to developing staff, preferably with line management experience.
· Willingness to undertake occasional planned evening duties, such as quarterly Finance Committee and Board meetings.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.
You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.
You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.
In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.
About you
Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.
Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. Key responsibilities
Fundraising delivery and development
- Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
- Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
- Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
- Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
- Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
- Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
- Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.
Relationship management and stewardship
- With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
- Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
- Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
- Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
- Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.
Planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
- Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
- Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
- Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.
Staff management
- Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
- Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.
- Ensure that all work adheres to all policies including Safeguarding and Data Protection guidelines.
- Work alongside the HR Officer, to co-ordinate the recruitment of training staff.

As a Conservation Projects Manager and a key member of the national Conservation team, you will work with experienced consultants and skilled craftspeople, with national and regional colleagues, volunteers, local partners and stakeholders to develop and manage a range of holistic, conservation and new use projects, from inception to completion, and providing professional advice and support to community led projects. You will lead on all capital, conservation and maintenance, programmes in the region.
You will have expertise and specialist knowledge in the field of historic building repair and conservation, and a proven track record of project management (client side) in the heritage sector. You might be a Building Surveyor, a Conservation Architect, an Estate Manager, or a Project Manager, in this continually varied and unique role you will be working on some of the most significant historic buildings in the country. As you’ll be working on projects across the region, but not exclusively, it is essential you have a full driving license.

The role
You will:
- Expand the network of the hub by establishing and nurturing relationships and co-creating and implementing engaging events, workshops and partnerships at the Hub and within the Region.
- Be the conduit between Scope and its community with the main aim of forging relationships for change. This would also include promoting Scope’s offer of Services, Retail Shops, volunteering and campaigns.
- Network to forge partnerships and collaborations within the Leeds Community to expand Scope’s reach and impact.
- Develop digital content for the Hub and maintain a social media presence.
- Develop marketing strategies for the Hub.
- Support to measure the success of the Hub.

Established in 1936 and one of Scotland’s leading wildlife bodies, the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club is a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with some 3500 members. Its purpose is to advance the study and appreciation of birds in Scotland by promoting their documentation, promoting interest in them, promoting their conservation, providing a focus for information about them and encouraging the appreciation of relevant creative arts.
The Club’s headquarters, which also feature a renowned ornithology library, wildlife art gallery and sales outlet, are in Aberlady, East Lothian. Fifteen nationwide Branches are led by members who organise events, outings and projects in their areas. Staff contribute a national series of events, conferences and training activities for members of all ages. Publications include the highly regarded quarterly journal Scottish Birds, mobile app (Where to Watch Birds in Scotland), regional bird reports, e-newsletters and other online media.
The Club Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of running the Club, including its small team of staff, volunteers, an annual turnover of about £350,000 and assets which include built property (HQ). They will champion and drive forward the Club’s vision and goals. There will be emphasis on strong leadership to manage and support staff, volunteers and trustees; ensuring the highest standard of services to members; planning and reporting on the annual programme of Club-wide events and developing future priorities.
KEY OBJECTIVES:

- Ensure implementation of all H&S, safeguarding and risk management responsibilities, in line with external and internal policy and Risk Register needs. Ensure regular review of policies, advising Management Committee and ensuring awareness of them wherever necessary among Council and Committee members, staff, contractors and volunteer leaders.
- Work with the Office Manager to ensure compliance with all necessary measures for the maintenance and management of Waterston House and its users.
- Ensure appropriate insurance cover for all relevant Club needs, including property, people, events and activities.
- Oversee the staff role in contributing to preparation and monitoring of our annual budget, reporting regularly to relevant committees.
- Oversee and support as appropriate all Club publications and media activities, including its website, Scottish Birds, newsletters and other communications.
