The Head of Finance Business Partnering will:

The Successful Applicant
The successful Head of Finance Business Partnering will be/have:
- Qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (C.C.A.B.) or CIMA accountant.
- Recent experience of working within a finance business partnering model or the ability to demonstrate an awareness of what is required to deliver the outcomes of the model.
- Understand personal and professional strengths and development needs and be able to evidence the steps taken to enhance your continuing professional development.
- Ability to interpret complex or detailed legislation, policy or strategy documents to identify financial implications and provide insightful financial advice.

In 2024, TAWS was given the opportunity pilot a Surplus Hub Project at Birmingham Wholesale Market, where edible waste food destined for anaerobic digestion can be diverted to human consumption. To purpose of this role is to maximise the amount of surplus food available to the Food Justice Network groups via the Birmingham Wholesale Markets.
Food Redistribution Manager:
The Food Justice Network is a network of around 300 independent partner organisations, all of who are providing support across the city. FJN Partners offer a range of services from foodbanks to community cafes, to community pantries and warm spaces, all delivering vital support to some of Birmingham's most vulnerable citizens.
Your role will be the sourcing and procuring farming surplus and collective buying of fresh produce for the Food Justice Network. Part of this opportunity will be facilitating the set-up of a city-wide network to make surplus food redistribution more coordinated and effective.
There is already a significant amount of surplus food redistributed across the city and lots of work going on in terms of reducing waste in businesses but we know that sometimes unexpected surplus food arises and not every food business is plugged in to the surplus food network.
Alongside the core of the role, you will also be managing two to three people who you will be working in conjunction with but on separate projects.
This will provide less reasons for businesses to waste food with a strong, well connected and promoted network.

Job Summary

Key Skills & Experience
- CCAB or equivalent part-qualified or finalist-level candidates required, full qualification desirable.
- Experience in facilities management or estates-related roles (e.g. property management, construction projects) is preferable, however candidates from other backgrounds will be considered.
- Strong month-end management accounting experience required; finance business partnering experience is advantageous.
- Confident communicator with proven stakeholder engagement skills.

The key purpose of this role is to manage the reporting, visualisation, interpretation and use of project monitoring data through Malaria Consortium’s global Project and Results database (PReS), working with colleagues across the organisation to ensure they receive the correct training on the system, maintaining standards of data reporting and use, and analysing project data to monitor progress against organisational strategic targets. The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data analytics or field with strong focus on data management and use
- Demonstrable experience in programme monitoring and results measurement with ability to write log frames, translate log frames into project monitoring practice (i.e. through the development of tools and practice) and manage oversight processes
- Extensive experience of DHIS2 and/or other data management platforms
- Experience developing and maintaining data dashboards, particularly using PowerBI
- Experience engaging with software solution providers

Role Overview
The successful candidate will be involved in leading and co-ordinating the delivery of Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s research strategy including our programme of grants, and our work to support increased patient and public involvement in research. They will work with the Director of Services & Evidence and Head of Evidence & Research to support the charity’s involvement with external research bodies and contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet our strategic objectives.
About You
We are looking for someone who has proven experience of delivering successful research funding and patient and public involvement research activities. The successful candidate must be adept at establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders and comfortable working with operational performance metrics, and implementing strategies and objectives for the organisation. Ideally your background will be in health care or working in a medical charity and you’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent. Given this role will involve managing and providing leadership to the Research team, prior management experience would be an advantage. Whilst not essential, a knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis would be beneficial also.

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.
