We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. A bit about this role
At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups. We have over 250 branches across the UK, all of which help our feline friends in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our branch team leader volunteers lead their local team by supporting and managing volunteers within their group, maintaining communications with both volunteers and staff, and helping promote a positive and professional image of Cats Protection.

- Supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure volunteers are happy and confident

Time expectation

There will be times of year when more hours are required, such as towards the end of the financial year, but support and guidance are always available.

Glasgwegians unite for pets in need and their families! Do you have a background in animal welfare or human services? Do you have lived experience as a pet guardian or someone who has sought adoption in the past? Glasgow's pet families need you!
The vision for Glasgow Pet Collective is to create a social justice oriented animal welfare organisation to support Glaswegians and their pets. Our approach will be community informed and will develope innovative programs based on community need. I plan to launch the organisation, with a co-founder or two, so we can help with re-homing pets ASAP because it is a service that is in urgent need.
The role:
Glasgow Pet Collective is seeking one to four co-founders to formulate best practices, policies and innovative programs on which to build the charity. Co-founders will also help to secure charity status, apply for funding, connect with pet parents who need to rehome their dog, cat or other small animal, market pets for adoption, screen adopters and recruit and train volunteers. The scope of the founder's role will be based on their experience, expertise and interest. I anticipate 5 hours of work weekly in the intial phases of set up and would hope that at some point in the not too distant future, we can receive funding to pay for part or (hopefully) full-time staff. As a note, I am a professional grant writer so I am hopeful we can get funding sooner than later!
The problem:
Pet relinquishment requests to animal rescue / shelter organisations have increased up to 60% in 2023. Organisations like Dog's Trust, SSPCA, Cats Protection and Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home are full to the brink and are simply not able to accommodate the deluge of requests for help.
In the mean time, cats and dogs live in homes that are not conducive to either their or their human guardians' wellbeing. Cats are living in homes with co-occupants that cause them great stress, and potentially exhibiting destructive behaviours due to their distress. Dogs with separation anxiety are living in homes who cannot spend enough time with them. And humans are struggling to feed their families and their pets at the same time.
In most cases, human support services that allow the human/animal family to remain intact are the ideal response to these issues. Keeping families together highly advantageous to the wellbeing of all family members - two and four-legged. AND financial assistance, accessiblity of services and/or modifications to the home environment can solve the issues that often lead pet parents to seek rehoming services.
Pet food banks are critical to ensuring dedicated families keep their pets fed without jeopardising the needs of their human families. Training and behaviour professionals can help dogs cope with separation. Accessible veterinary care can allow families with financial constraints to keep their pets instead of relinquishing for hope of the animal getting the help they need.
About me:
My name is Caitlin Mendoza-Price. I am an animal welfare professional from Los Angeles. I spent the last 10 years working in feline lifesaving programs, fundraising and grant writing. Admittedly, the landscape and needs of animals in Scotland is largely different than the one I have built most of my expertise within.
However, after two years in Scotland, and lessons learnt from conferences and conversations with professionals, pet parents and prospective adopters, I've come to understand that the Scotland is in great need of increased rehoming and human animal support services.

Students4Students is a member led national organisation which has c.100 members split across 4 branches. As a CIO it has a duty to engage with members and provide members the opportunity to elect trustees and hold the leadership to account for decisions at an AGM. The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. The Olive Branch Counselling Service (reg charity 1140475) is based in central Winchester, serving the community of Hampshire over the last 27 years. We provide subsidised counselling services for adults (over 18) who are experiencing mental health issues, via weekly therapy sessions. Our beneficiaries have gone through a range of difficult lived experiences, including loss, abuse, poor health and the current cost of living crisis. We’re a small charity with 4 part-time staff and aim to help 300 people in 2024. We recently secured a multi-year grant from the National Lottery, putting us on a more secure financial footing for 3 years. We still need to raise a further £30,000 in 2024. We have 44 volunteer counsellors supporting our clients, who are committed to helping people in need, and in turn we support their continuous professional development by funding their counselling supervision.

The Olive Branch Counselling Service is welcoming Trustees to join our Board of Directors. Trustees play a vital role in making sure that The Olive Branch achieves its core purpose. There are approximately 210,000 school governors in England – the largest volunteer force in the country. High-quality governance has a significant impact on how well a school is run and what pupils can achieve.
What we are looking for
Contrary to popular thought, you don’t have to be a parent or connected to the school in some way to be on the local board.
For our schools, the main advantage of having you join one of our local boards is the expertise and experience you can bring to the role. Knowledge of e.g. marketing, financial management, human resources, data analysis will greatly improve the effectiveness of our board and have a positive impact on our pupils’ education.
What we require of local board members
In terms of time commitment, we expect that you will attend at least one meeting per term, which will take place at the end of the school day (usually around 4pm) and rarely last more than 2 hours. Plus, take part in agreed school visits focusing on specific areas such as Pupil Premium, SEND and safeguarding. Feedback from members contributes to an evidence-base for self-evaluation and school improvement and you will be offered training and support to help you fulfil your role successfully. All those in governance roles, meet together at least once a year at a conference event.

All schools are in rural locations and are firmly rooted in their local communities. We support learners from 4-18 and inclusivity is central to our working. There are two SEND Centres for children with additional learning and cognition needs, supporting children in KS2, 3 and 4. What is the Best You Can Be Mentoring Programme?
The Best You can Be Mentoring Programme is a community-led initiative supported by the Mercers fund. It aims to engage young boys and girls from the ages 9-18 years of ethnic minority backgrounds living in or attending a school in Hackney, in a 12- month mentoring relationship.

Trustee recruitment:
To meet the changing needs and aspirations of the most diverse generation of young adults ever, our Board needs a range of perspectives, skills, and lived experience.
The DofE Trustee Board is particularly keen to recruit a new trustee with skills, expertise and lived experience in the following areas:
- A qualified accountant and has professional experience as a CFO or as an Audit partner.
- Candidates must have the capacity and capability to undertake the role of DofE’s Chair of Audit, Investment and Risk Committee
- Experience as a Board member in a business or charitable organisation.
Terms of Appointment
Trustees are appointed for an initial four-year term with the possibility to extend for a further four-year period.
Time commitment
• Four formal board meetings per year (3 hours per meeting), ordinarily held in central London or via Microsoft Teams.
• Sub-committee meetings - circa four a year or when required (usually 1-2 hours per meeting).
• A board strategy away day per year.
• Reading time for papers.
Time to participate in essential training and ongoing Trustee development.
• Contribution to charity events and activities, such as fundraising events and Staff Conference.
Induction, training and governance
Safe recruitment practice applies to our Trustees, and if appointed we will expect you to complete an induction to the DofE, visit our sites and meet key staff, volunteers and participants.
Trustees are required to provide suitable references, undertake a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check. (e.g. DBS/PVG or similar),fit and proper person checks and provide confirmation of identity and any relevant qualifications. In addition, we will ask you to declare any relevant interests on an annual basis and sign up to our Trustee Code of Conduct.
To support you in your role as a Trustee we will provide training in relation to safeguarding and data protection as part of your induction and offer ongoing learning and development opportunities as well as an optional mentor and regular guidance and performance check ins throughout your time as a Trustee.

STARS Dorset is a growing, independent charity supporting those living, working or studying in Dorset who have been affected by sexual violence and/or domestic abuse. We support approximately 3600 unique individuals every year with our specialist support services, enabling them to start their own journey of recovery. Over the past 5 years we have seen increasing demand for our frontline services and we are now looking for a Treasurer to lead on the financial governance and compliance of our charity.

All Nations Christian College is world renowned for effective cross-cultural training for Christian missional life and work, both locally and globally.
We are looking for a qualified lecturer to take overall responsibility for all aspects of our 10-week missions training En Route course at the Easneye site, teach on all other programmes offered by All Nations Christian College according to their area of expertise, and provide support and pastoral care to students. The successful candidate will have recent, extensive and relevant experience in cross-cultural mission and teaching experience in an academic context, together with pastoral skills.
This role is for a Tutor to be a residential volunteer on site (accommodation and meals are provided free of charge); or the role can suit a local volunteer who travels on site (travel expenses covered).
In the nature of the role, it is a genuine requirement that the post holder is a committed Christian and fully supports the objectives of the college.
