Age UK is recruiting for an experienced Direct Marketing Manager (Acquisition) who understands multi-channel acquisition programmes and has a deep knowledge of face-to-face fundraising.
Face to face fundraising remains one of our essential supporter acquisition channels. When done well, it builds trust, sparks emotional connection and creates long term relationships that fund our vital services.
This is an exciting and critical role in Age UK's Individual Marketing team that will be responsible for the delivery of the Acquisition strategy and programme to recruit new financial supporters through creating exciting propositions that provide our target audiences with compelling reasons to donate.
Individual Marketing is a key component in Age UK's income generation strategy, with ambitious growth projected by 2030 - this role will be crucial for achieving this.
We operate a hybrid-working model, a blend of home and office working. This role will include regular days working from our London office - currently once a week on a Thursday and may involve occasional travel for meetings and events. Travel costs to the London office are the responsibility of the postholder and are not covered by the charity.

Purpose of role
The Business Development Manager will lead our efforts to secure high-profile, high-value partnerships with corporate organisations that will generate vital income for children's palliative care. Securing new partnerships and growing our income requires exceptional collaboration skills; a driven, tenacious and resourceful nature; innovation and creativity; and a passionate determination to make a difference to the lives of children and families across the UK.
The main objectives are as follows:

About the role
This new role is to support the growth of Marine Society apprenticeship and adult skills provision. This is a strategic, outward-facing role requiring a confident astute individual who can engage key stakeholders and employers in the maritime industry to recruit new entrants and existing employees onto Marine Society programmes.
Responsibilities
· To grow the apprenticeship and adult skills provision in line with agreed annual recruitment and financial targets
· To develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective employers and learners, proactively identifying new apprenticeship and learning opportunities within the maritime industry. To secure repeat business with apprenticeship employers through cultivating long-term relationships.
· To work with the Director of Maritime Training and Development to devise a sales and marketing strategy to grow the apprenticeship and adult skills provision. To support the tendering process to ASF devolved areas and work with subcontractor partners.
· To collaborate with the Apprenticeship Operations Manager and Maritime Lead Trainer to convert identified leads and share industry intelligence.
· To assist the Digital Marketing Coordinator to write targeted social media posts and marketing campaigns, ensuring market visibility and lead generation. To build a library of promotional literature and good news stories.
· To maintain accurate records of business development leads and pipeline activity within the CRM system and to routinely report on these
· Attend relevant external boards, fora and industry bodies, as directed in order to promote maritime apprenticeships and training including; Maritime Skills Alliance, Workboat Association, MNTB apprenticeship committee and Port Skills and Safety
· To attend industry trade fairs and careers events to represent Marine Society. These include; National Apprenticeship Week, Seawork, International Boat Show
· To research and monitor market trends, employer needs and competitor activity to inform business development strategy
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a recruitment, sales or commercial role with a proven track record of achieving financial targets
- Knowledge of the maritime sector including roles, ranks and certifications in the near coastal sector
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with clients and stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify, grow and convert new business opportunities
- Experience using CRM systems to monitor and report on business leads
- Knowledge of CPD training or workforce development

Business Manager
Location: Kendal, Cumbria (with regular travel across Cumbria and to our site in Carlilse)
Salary: £42,830 per annum, plus 9% pension contribution.

The role offers a unique opportunity to lead the business development and management of the Trust’s consultancy (Cumbria Wildlife Consulting (CWC)) and commercial plant nursery, ensuring they together provide a high-quality integrated service, meet financial targets, and align with the Trust's mission to protect and restore Cumbria’s natural environment, and inspire action.
Since 2023, the Trust has run a semi-commercial nursery at its Gosling Sike site near Carlisle, providing local provenance, peat-free plug plants for use in our projects, but also selling to partner organisations. The Trust has recently secured funding to expand its operation, increasing capacity and enabling more efficient production.

MAT CEOs and headteachers increasingly want termly data they can act on, and TEP is built to provide exactly that.
We have a strong foundation in the North of England, as a region with some of our founding partners, including Outwood Grange Academies Trust, The Education Alliance, BDAT and Pathfinder were among our Research in the Commission for Engagement and a Lead Indicator and we are proud to still have in our community. However, there is still substantial appetite across the North for TEP to give trust and school leaders precision they can act on. There is a pipeline of interested trusts. And there is real opportunity to shape a regional story (events, flagship partnerships, local authority engagement) that compounds as partnerships grow.
The Regional Director will own that opportunity and lead business development in the region. You'll be building on a proven product and a credible research base, and joining at the point where regional presence matters most. Early work will focus on opening new partnerships at trust level, stewarding a small number of strategic relationships with sector bodies and Teaching School Hubs, and establishing TEP as a trusted voice in the region.

The role
You'll lead TEP's growth and business development across the North of England: opening new partnerships with schools and trusts, stewarding strategic relationships with sector bodies, and shaping how TEP shows up in the region. You'll have real autonomy, backed by a Director who's hands-on with strategy, a growing marketing function, and the research weight of ImpactEd Group behind you.
There are three main areas of responsibility:

It’s been a successful few years for the Events team with good results across the board, increasing income by over £1 million a year since 2023. And we’ve just been shortlisted for Fundraising Charity of the Year at the National Fundraising Awards 2026!
Now’s an exciting time as we’ve recently expanded the team again, bringing in new resource to give our different activity areas space to grow and ensure the whole team can do their best work – contributing to PCR’s lifesaving mission, developing in their careers and enjoying their work within our ambitious and supportive team.
We are now recruiting for a new Events & Community Executive to join the frontline of our fundraising stewardship, so strong relationship skills and a love of creating great supporter experiences are essential. A big part of the role will be project managing fundraising activities which will require a proactive approach and an eagerness to learn, as well as some experience of leading a project yourself in the past.
Examples of projects include the London Marathon, Tough Mudder and our open challenges, but you will work on a variety of activities with the team – sharing learnings and supporting each other to hit our shared goals. You will receive the training and support you need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Event management and delivery
- Lead the delivery of the fundraising activities you are working on – monitoring objectives, budgets and the bigger picture to ensure that opportunities are seized and risks are minimised.
- Create and follow action plans for your projects, taking responsibility for processes and the delivery of tasks on time.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and third-party organisations.
- Ensure all fundraising activities promote PCR’s brand and have a strong connection to people with prostate cancer.

Stewardship
- Lead on the delivery of supporter journeys for your projects, providing a high level of stewardship which motivates our fundraisers to raise more and remain loyal supporters of PCR.

- Carry out stewardship tasks using tools like Mailchimp, GivePanel, JustGiving & Funraisin, for which training will be provided.

Marketing and recruitment
- Work with the team to create effective marketing plans and lead on their implementation to meet acquisition targets.
- Create recruitment assets which are tailored by a good understanding of our audiences.
- With the support of the team, track and analyse marketing performance to proactively suggest improvements.
Administration and database
- Oversee stock management via our fulfilment house and ensure we have high quality fundraising merchandise.
- Carry out participant data processing, income processing and budget management tasks as required – including coding, database administration, supplier payments, and income & expenditure tracking.
- Ensure your fundraising activities are delivered in line with fundraising law & regulations, and with PCR’s policies.
Strategy and development
- Always have an eye on new opportunities and ideas to inject into your projects, taking a test & learn approach.
- Contribute to team strategy and budgeting, working with the team to create exciting plans.
- Lead on relevant projects to improve how we do things – from stewardship & content, to processes & compliance.
- Be proactive in your personal development and look for opportunities to learn – with lots of support from your manager!
Teamwork
- Actively contribute to meetings, sharing new ideas and learnings that might be useful for the wider team.
- Work with the team to embed our agile ways of working, where we all take collective responsibility for the team’s goals.

Essential

Has held a senior role in a cultural venue or within an organisation with a substantial arts programme or partnerships; is well networked in and beyond the cultural and creative industries.

Understanding of the current landscape and eco-system in the cultural sector and awareness of local/national political initiatives that will impact on - and create opportunities for - Dance City and its partner organisations.

Understanding of the legal, fiscal, social and political context within which the arts operate, and the contribution they make to health, education, social cohesion and civic pride.

Understanding of the needs of dance as an art form and a commitment to best practice and to promoting inclusion and equality of opportunity.

An inclusive leader with experience of overseeing organisational transformation and managing change.

A track record in relationship building, working in partnership with a range of funders, agencies and organisations, and of successful fundraising and income generation from a range of sources.

A strong advocate and compelling storyteller, able to network, represent the organisation, communicate its vision and inspire confidence among existing and potential peers and stakeholders.

Strong financial literacy and skills, knowledge of charity governance and relevant financial policies and procedures; experience of senior financial accountability.

Experience of working effectively with a Board of Directors, understanding of best practice in governance and organisational development.

A commitment to living in the region, able to travel nationally and internationally, and to work some evenings and weekends where there is reasonable expectation to attend events.
