Job description

About us:

ScreenSkills is the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries – film, television (high-end, children’s, unscripted), VFX, animation and games. Our mission is to lead on building skills and talent, finding, developing and sustaining a properly inclusive workforce to support the screen industries across the whole of the country and power growth.

Our Board and Advisory Councils comprise committed senior industry leaders from across the screen sector, representing large and small organisations and businesses across the UK.

Role purpose:

In the past 18 months, the ScreenSkills digital team has migrated three separate websites into a rebranded ScreenSkills membership website, with a focus on streamlining a resource-intensive social community tool into a reporting engine for ScreenSkills objectives and aims of supporting career entry and progression in the screen industries.

 ScreenSkills are seeking to further automate and future-proof our reporting needs using a combination of bespoke website functionality, database and business intelligence tools (SQL Server and Power BI). As our reporting systems become more sophisticated, we need an experienced BI developer to interpret company requirements and build visualizations of ScreenSkills growing datasets.

 You will be working on creative functional dashboard systems that suit ScreenSkills unique reporting needs, drawing from multiple data sources (SQL Server, Excel, HubSpot CRM, Google Analytics, Sun Systems), and being mindful of data privacy and security. You will be working closely with the ScreenSkills digital team as a Power Bi subject expert.

The role will/may include:

  • Building upon and refining existing reporting frameworks
  • Ensure the day-to-day reliability and health of the data platform
  • Translating organizational reporting requirements into functional dashboards and reports
  • Design, build and deploy BI solutions (on Power BI)
  • Maintain and update existing and future operational reports to help teams improve their productivity
  • Supporting the wider company with effective and accurate data analysis and data wrangling during key quarterly and annual reporting periods
  • Providing bespoke data query and analysis services (using SQL Server and Excel) when required for deeper project evaluation

Essential skills and experience and/or qualifications

Essential skills:

  • Business Intelligence/Report Development experience
  • Excellent Power BI development skills
  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Exceptional ability to understand complex business requirements, and convert them into meaningful and engaging reports
  • Analytical and conceptual capabilities
  • Experience dealing with large datasets
  • Able to work directly with stakeholders to understand their business needs for data and reporting, and to define requirements and project direction using a consultative process
  • Comfortable working with multiple teams, in-house and remote.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills: This role will have you interacting with the entire organisation. You need to be thoughtful, passionate and tactful.
  • Proactive and a self-starter: We work in a very fast-moving set of industries and there is a lot of autonomy with this role.
  • Positive energy and a can-do attitude: We are a very ambitious team; you should be able to multitask and prioritise projects.
  • Excellent with numbers: We’re looking for someone who is experienced in analysing data from digital products, analytics services and databases

Preferred skills and experience:

  • An understanding of the UK creative industry landscape
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Working understanding of software and web development
  • Working understanding of CRM systems (especially HubSpot)
  • Familiarity with CMS systems
