7. Deliver impact measurement and evaluation of all programmes to support continuous improvement and growth.

ROLE

An exciting role focused on growing and supporting the range of events that take place in Bridge 5 Mill, being first point of contact with potential hirers of our events spaces, supporting our community of tenants and users, and supporting  Bridge 5 Mill’s day to day operations, including reception, marketing and social media. 

BACKGROUND

Bridge 5 Mill is a centre of social change in a historic 5 storey mill on the edge of Ancoats / Northern Quarter, comprising workspaces and event spaces. Our unique sustainable and ethical approach characterises our building and drives all our activities. Bridge 5 Mill is part of a family of organisations (part of the Fairfield Environment Trust, a registered charity) including the Kindling Trust, promoting ecological and social justice through a broad range of projects. 

We have just fixed our broken lift. This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and on our income from venue hire (with far fewer events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces. 

We are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these  recent challenges.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a small dedicated team to help us deliver our vision. Alongside the Building Manager, your role will cover day to day operations, reception, events and marketing. You will be central to supporting events and our hirers, promoting our social change vision, and making Bridge 5 Mill a thriving community hub. We are looking for someone with experience of managing or promoting events, excellent interpersonal skills, energy and leadership.

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE

Events and community building duties;

• First point of contact for enquiries about events or from potential hirers
• Liaise with hirers and event facilitators
• Build events collaborations and partners
• Assist with event setup and management
• Plan and deliver community, social change and revenue generating events
• Build a network with similar spaces in Manchester to strengthen collaborations 
• Uphold excellent service and reputation for the venue

Marketing duties;

• Deliver marketing outputs to increase revenue streams and new opportunities
• Develop a portfolio of new corporate clients
• Promote Bridge 5 Mill services, events, campaigns, values and social impact
• Promote and support our community’s activities
• Build relationship with key partners, local groups and new collaborators
• Manage and build Bridge 5 Mill’s online presence and accounts
• Produce compelling content and assist with marketing materials

Reception and day to day operations duties;

• Assist with bookings and appointment scheduling
• Support a friendly and welcoming environment
• Greet and assist building users
• Answer queries, phone calls, respond to emails and messages
• Provide information about Bridge 5 Mill and promote our services
• Supervise the security of the building
• On-call duties requiring timely response by phone or visits to the Mill
• Be a first responder i.e. fire marshal, first aider…

Job Summary 

Working with the Senior Corporate Partnership Manager, this role supports high-value corporate partnerships through engagement, stewardship, and identifying new opportunities aligned with the charity’s goals. This newly established role in the income team reflects the growth of MHI’s partnerships and offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious corporate fundraiser with a passion for digital mental health. MHI is at a pivotal point in its development, having experienced significant growth since launching in 2017. Over the past 18 months, a primary focus has been on cultivating several major partners to support our core services (Shout and The Mix) and the development of three new digital mental health products. We are now looking to focus on these key partners, while expanding our portfolio of new opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities

• Support with high value corporate partnerships, including the delivery of employee engagement activities and communications, fundraising events and challenges
• Manage a portfolio of corporate partnerships, delivering first class stewardship and identifying and maximising opportunities for wider engagement
• Support the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager to steward and engage partners and prospects, including thought leadership, communications, events, volunteering and fundraising activities

Over the last five years we have increased the number of individuals and organisation supporting the charity from 800 to more than 3,500 a year. The charity is set to build on this success and aims to continue this growth, so that we can reach more patients and provide additional support at a time when it is more critical than ever for kidney patients.

The Corporate Partnership Manager will play a key role in this growth. Our Corporate Partnership income has grown from zero in 2020 to c£2.3 million in 2025. It is a very exciting time to be joining the charity and our Fundraising team.

Primarily, you will be responsible for building engagement and driving new income via charity of the year partnerships, corporate partnerships, and employee fundraising. You will manage the Corporate Partnership Officer who is developing a growing portfolio of supporters across different sectors. You will also work closely with the Events Manager, Trust & Foundation Manager, Head of Fundraising and Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications as well as the wider Fundraising team to promote and support all opportunities to drive corporate income growth.

Alongside the Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications who takes a special interest in the charity’s Corporate Partnerships, you will be tasked with planning, implementing, and delivering the activities, programmes and processes required to grow corporate income from c£2.3m in 2025 to even greater levels over the coming years.

You will do this by stewarding the significant number of existing relationships and partnerships we already hold and maximising any opportunities that exist via our current partnerships and relationships. A key part of this role will require you to develop new opportunities and secure significant income (5-and-6 figure partnerships) through proactive engagement to and through our supporters, beneficiaries, networks, and contacts.

The right candidate will have a proven record of generating strategic partnerships that result in 5-and 6-figure corporate income, building strong and rewarding relationships, with stewardships skills that generate long term support for the charity. You will be a driven and enthusiastic fundraiser with experience of cultivating new relationships across a range of businesses and sectors.

The Lead CRM Engineer is responsible for taking a leading role in the CRM engineering capability team to identify and share good practice, develop standards, patterns, automation & tools, reduce technical debt and operational risks.

In addition the Lead CRM Engineer should design and develop enhancements to our CRM platform, supporting the delivery of our CRM Engineering strategy; apply specialist knowledge to identify improvements.

What will I be doing?

• Lead in all aspects of the software development life cycle e.g., requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing and documentation
• Apply Lean and Agile principles to develop high quality code that has minimal bugs, adheres to CRUK standards and is highly supportable
• Work either independently or in collaboration with Solution Architects to design new solutions in line with the CRM Engineering strategy
• Start the development of new products from scratch, leading on all the technical decisions this entails
• Work in collaboration with Product Managers, Service Designers, UX Designers, Business Analysts etc to identify user needs, discuss capabilities and iteratively design solutions
• Take a leading role in the CRM engineering capability team to identify and share good practice, develop standards, patterns, automation & tools, and reduce technical debt and operational risks
• Design and develop enhancements to our CRM platform, supporting the delivery of our CRM Engineering strategy; applying specialist knowledge to identify improvements
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to track and improve the availability, performance, and security of CRM products. Support the resolution of incidents impacting our products.
• Responsible for release management and line management of 2-5 CRM engineers, coaching them to develop their skills, behaviours and develop their careers.

What are you looking for?

Essential:

• Ability to write clean, readable, and properly tested code based on tried and tested design patterns.
• Experience building applications on our existing CRM platform (Siebel) and/or future CRM (Salesforce), including data model design, custom UIs, custom logic, inbound and outbound integration logic
• Experience running critical services in production and designing highly available, scalable, and secure solutions
• Acted as a Senior or Lead within an Engineering team, starting the development of new features from scratch, defining the overall solutions, and reviewing more junior engineers' work.'

Desirable:

• Understands business problems and able to translate them into solution designs using creativity and pragmatism.
• Knowledge of modern software development methods (SCRUM, Kanban) and approaches (test-driven development, behaviour driven development, continuous integration, continuous delivery)

About Waves

Demos is leading the largest trial of digital democracy in Britain. 

Trust in politics and politicians is in crisis. Only 24% of people trust politicians to make decisions in the best interests of the country. Polarisation is increasing. At the same time, people want to be involved in the public policy decisions that affect them. 

Waves is a €1 million project trialling new technology in local democracy, launched to bring people together to tackle contentious local issues and strengthen trust in local government. Thousands of local people will have the opportunity to shape local government policy on an issue affecting their area.

New AI-powered technology is intended to make it easier, cheaper and quicker for participants to have their say, identify areas of consensus, discuss difficult issues and work through trade-offs together. 

We are working in partnership with two trailblazing councils who are both embracing the opportunity to put the public at the heart of their policy making. The trial will begin in the London Borough of Camden to co-develop an approach to adult social care. The trial will then move on to South Staffordshire District Council as they develop an inclusive engagement process to prepare for their next local plan. The partners will also support a further 25 councils to observe and learn from the process so that they too can use the tools in the future.

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced programme manager who can steer Waves from now until it completes in December 2026. 

You would be joining the programme at a pivotal time as we move from the ‘set-up’ and ‘co-design’ phases of the first 6-months, to the start of the first of our two trials running sequentially over the next 11 months, before moving to a final ‘impact phase’ of dissemination of our toolkits, technology and learning in the final 6 months.

Programme management of Waves means ensuring that the whole project stays on track – on time and on budget – throughout its delivery. There are 5 partners, a number of suppliers and many moving parts, so it is critical that we find someone who can work across the whole programme, anticipating who needs to do what and by when, and ensuring that the programme is delivered successfully so we can draw learnings from it to share widely across the local government, democracy, and tech sectors. 

It is worth bearing in mind that Waves is a ‘test and learn’ trial of a new deliberative democratic process using existing and new technology. Therefore, the team is committed to learning from the project and being comfortable with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly what the outcomes are going to be. 

What you'll need to be sucessful

The types of knowledge, skills and experience we are looking for are below. We welcome a range of applications which include at least some of these attributes.

• Demonstrable experience managing an equivalent programme in terms of complexity, scale and partners with a solid understanding of project management methods.
• Understanding and commitment to the mission of the programme – motivated to tackle issues of low trust in democracy among UK citizens with digital democratic platforms and deliberative processes a crucial part of the solution.
• Team management, interpersonal and communication skills – ability to lead and motivate a team with diverse skills and priorities to deliver a programme of great complexity and uncertainty, including fostering collaboration and trust, managing conflicts, maintaining transparency and empowering different partners to perform effectively.
• Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills – the ability to align activities with overall programme objectives, making informed decisions based on programme lead and partner inputs and, where possible, data and analysis, and drive the programme towards successful outcomes. 
• Ability to identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies and manage issues that may arise during the programme lifecycle – ideally in an innovation context, one working with diverse partners with different ways of working or when using technology/ conducting trials with the public.
• An interest in, and comfort working with, innovative technologies that utilise AI and collect data, as well as an understanding of the risks and sensitivities surrounding the use of AI, among the public and within the public sector.
• Experience of owning and managing a large-scale budget, conducting calculations when there are changes from the plan, and maintaining clear and robust tracking of expenditure to ensure financial accountability.
• Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing circumstances, solve problems creatively and maintain momentum and energy during challenging situations.
• Highly collaborative, with a commitment to teamwork and inclusivity.

About the role

This role is maternity cover and will be offered on a fixed term contract. 

The role will report directly in to the Town Clerk and be responsible for the Events Officer, contractors and volunteers. You will work closely with other officers including Communications, Public Services, Community, Heritage and Support Officer. 

Crewe Town council has a rich and varied events and culture programme planned and set out  for 2026 which needs oversight while the events and culture manager is on maternity leave. This will require a suitably experienced and qualified individual to ensure delivery is consistent, compliant and maintains the usual standard of quality events and experiences delivered by Crewe Town Council.
