About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast moving, youth focused, charity and to play a vital role in securing income to support our youth activities – working with Trusts and Foundations predominantly, but with the opportunity to also build relationships with statutory funders and, in future, major donors.

We are looking for a proactive, organised individual to join Young Enterprise as part of our impactful and collaborative National Fundraising team. YE’s supportive yet driven environment places personal development at its core, to ensure team members thrive. 

Working with the Senior Relationship Manager and the Philanthropy Team, you will contribute to an annual budget of £4.2m and raise income from Trusts and Foundations and small statutory income streams, utilising your income generating and communication skills. You will also undertake prospect research, as well as developing compelling project updates and reports to inspire supporters.

Key Responsibilities

• Income generation - to achieve or exceed agreed income targets, with a focus on securing donations from Trust and Foundations 
• Grant management - working with internal colleagues to track funded projects’ progress against targets and taking action to course correct when necessary. Produce timely, engaging, and accessible project reports to inspire and build donor relationships
• Prospecting - research and qualify a pipeline of Trusts and Foundations and small statutory opportunities to progress and secure financial support for YE.
• Administration - effective administration across YE systems and platforms
• Donor stewardship - some travel required to support YE activities with young people in schools, donor visits to projects

A few practical things

• This is a hybrid role, requiring you to work from a YE office (London or Oxford) at least 8 times per month
• The role will involve travel to events, typically at schools, which take place during term time, however some evening working may also be required.

NEA’s Fundraising and Partnerships team has seen sustained growth in income from public and corporate fundraising, helping to raise awareness of fuel poverty and expand our reach. To build on this success and continue increasing unrestricted income through a diverse fundraising mix, we are recruiting a Fundraising Officer to join our knowledgeable and compassionate team.

You’ll also be responsible for planning and executing a portfolio of challenge events, while cultivating meaningful relationships with a diverse range of corporate partners.

A key part of your role will be identifying and securing new opportunities for corporate support, while strengthening existing relationships to foster long-term engagement. You will also play an important role in supporting NEA’s corporate volunteering programme.

You’ll be part of a small, friendly, and hardworking team that works collaboratively to achieve shared goals. Fundraising and Grants Management

• Pipeline Management: Lead on prospecting, developing and managing the mid-value trusts and grants pipeline, focusing on bids around £20,000 - £70,000, including multiyear grants, ensuring a consistent flow of opportunities to meet team income targets. Developing the skills and ability to manage higher value and more complex strategic bids.

• Application Writing: Develop and submit compelling, high-quality grant applications and proposals for mid-value funders, working closely with service teams, ensuring accurate budgets and income against Adoption UK’s strategic priorities.

• Stewardship: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a portfolio of new and existing mid-value funders, providing timely and impactful reports to secure renewed funding, and developing relationships with key external contacts through excellent communication.

• Reporting: Oversee the accurate tracking of all applications, reports, and communications using team tracking methods, and the CRM database, providing regular progress updates to the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager, the Trusts & Grants Officer, and service teams, to align fundraising activities with the organisation’s strategic priorities and annual income targets.

• Undertake other duties and projects as directed by the Senior Trusts & Grants Manager and Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications.

Team Management and Development

• Line Management: Provide line management and support to the Trusts & Grants Officer, including regular one-to-ones, appraisals, and professional development.

Purpose of the Job

Lead the growth of Chartered Status and membership; advocate for and represent the College; grow strategic networks

• Provide keynote speeches as required for the Chartered College of Teaching, building on teaching experience and practice. Attend and contribute as required at speaking events, important functions, sector events and meetings across the country
• Develop and manage senior strategic relationships with the DfE, devolved governments, other sector bodies as directed by the CEO
• Exemplify the importance of professional learning, especially sustained enquiry leading to validation e.g Masters, PhD study, Chartered routes
• Maintain detailed understanding of the wider education policy landscape and support our Public Relations dept in commenting to the media
• Lead the College’s income growth from funded projects, seeking new opportunities and work with the Deputy CEO and Director of Finance to ensure that new opportunities have robust commercial model
• Support management of relationships with funders at the highest level in partnership with the CEO and Deputy CEO

Organisational Planning & Strategy

• Work with the Executive Leadership Team to shape the organisational business plan, in partnership with Executive Leadership Team colleagues and Council, supported by a clear budget and plan for income generation
• Lead the implementation of the strategy, ensuring that KPIs are met / action is taken to course correct, and provide day-to-day guidance and long-term strategic direction for all employees within the College
• Oversee the College’s existing and new products and services, ensuring that they are of the highest standard, and are informed by research and impact evaluation

Leadership

• Advise on the education content of external communications
• Provide overall accountability and leadership in a range of areas including membership, publishing, content, research, Chartered status and other professional learning and accreditation
• Report to the Council as required and be the Executive Leadership Team representative for relevant committees, and ensure they have the reports and data needed to make informed decisions for the College 
• Provide leadership and development of individuals within the team, including setting clear objectives, responsibilities, performance standards and development goals and managing these accordingly – through informal coaching and feedback and formal discussions including regular one to ones and appraisals

About You

The Director of Education will be passionate about the purpose, vision and mission of the Chartered College of Teaching, including the growth of membership and accreditation, and the importance of high-quality education and research content. You will understand the importance of the College taking a balanced position (beyond ideology) and be able to link our existing content to our members’ needs. You will have gravitas with external stakeholders and be energised by developing and maintaining strong external networks within the education sector and with new and existing funders.

Experience and knowledge

Essential

• Teaching expertise - experience of working with teachers and school leaders in a range of contexts, ideally with a focus on professional learning
• Highly credible, increasingly respected profile (including in public speaking) and a strong network within the education sector
• Experience of building and maintaining strong external relationships 
• Significant professional experience including a senior leadership role and interactions with board level executives or equivalent

Meet your Manager

In this role you will be managed by Cheryl King-McDowall. Cheryl joined ClientEarth from the UK Cabinet Office, where she worked on Government Communication professional standards and major programmes including Covid Communications, UK GREAT Campaign, and the Leadership College for Government. On secondment from the Cabinet Office she led the creation of a new operating model for the House of Commons’ HR function. Prior to this, Cheryl has worked in and led HR, Policy, Communications and Operations, for over 30 years in a variety of organisations including Local Authorities, Charity, NGO, and Higher Education sectors. With a background in occupational and organisational psychology, she specialises in organisational development and effectiveness, change and business improvement.

Main Duties

• Serve as a key member of the People & Culture management team, contributing to strategic planning, operational delivery, and team development ensuring best practice and drive consistency across global teams.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders and People & Culture colleagues on HR policy, organisational design, workforce planning, and change management.  
• Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, including handling complex and sensitive cases such as grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance issues. 
• Work closely with legal advisors, managers, and Unions to ensure fair, transparent, and legally compliant outcomes.

Job Purpose:

The postholder administers all day-to-day activities within People Services and is responsible for the accurate, timely administration of all people-related data throughout the employee lifecycle from recruitment to retirement. Committed to business process improvement, the post-holder operates within strict confidentiality and compliance boundaries. The People Services Officer role models organisational values and behaviours, providing technical advice to colleagues when required and supporting the People Services Manager across all areas of the team’s work.

Main responsibilities:

• People administration and record keeping
• Always ensure fully compliant employee records, updating as required.
• Process all monthly changes (starters, leavers, contractual changes) accurately and meeting payroll deadlines.
• Bring a focus to gathering diversity data, so that insight and appropriate action and support is possible.
• Maintain and explain annual leave, providing reports as necessary for line managers.
• Ensure that employee files are updated with all relevant correspondence and maintained in line with GDPR, with archiving and data erasure in line with BC’s policy.
• Support the CEO Office and People Services Manager with the annual pay review administration.
• Continuously improve data management processes to enable clear and accurate reporting.
• Support Finance and Payroll with audit requests, meeting reporting deadlines.

Recruitment and selection, onboarding, and induction

• Manage the sourcing and advertising of new roles, once approved for recruitment.
• Support the procurement and management of external recruitment partners and internal assessment panels
• Liaise between candidates and hiring managers, setting up panels and ensuring selection process is effective and candidate friendly.
• Ensure that any reasonable adjustments requested during recruitment are implemented appropriately.
• Support hiring managers with induction and onboarding.
• Support BC induction programmes, providing information and presenting on People Services topics.
• Support on VISA and immigration and DBS checking as required.
• Run the Buddy Scheme for BC.

HR Information and Data Management and Reporting

• Maintain accurate employee data within the HRIS (Breathe), record and update.
• Provide regular standard reporting on key performance metrics for the organisation. (e.g. staff turnover, sickness absence, PDR completion rates, FTE, and headcount.)
• Provide people data for funding bids as required.
• Liaise with the HRIS provider for all system upgrades and maintenance, scheduling and testing new releases appropriately.
• Participate in HRIS provider network discussions to ensure that BC is maximising understanding of the system and services provided.

Learning and development

• Support all aspects of learning and development within the organisation, including diary management, registration, and monitoring.
• Review and improve content for People Services training materials.
• Maintain and report on records relating to compliance / mandatory training.
• Deliver introductory training in areas of expertise, for example recruitment, sickness absence management and contract changes.
• Act as first point of contact for external training partners and e-learning provider, directing and escalating queries as needed.

• Employee relations, engagement, and wellbeing.
  
• Update and format organisational policies under the guidance of the People Services Manager.
• Support with the implementation of the annual staff survey.
• Update and maintain the People Services SharePoint site, bringing accuracy and clarity to the content.
• Support on the administration of benefits schemes (e.g. cycle to work scheme).
• Support on people-related events, such as EDI celebrations and recognition awards (as relevant), ensuring inclusivity and efficient organisation.
• Know when to escalate confidential situations to protect individuals and BC.
• Source and support wellbeing activity that meets BC’s and individuals’ needs, including the Employee Assistance Programme.
• Commission Occupational Health reports as required.
• Provide first-line advice to managers on day-to-day people queries, such as sickness absence.

Project work

Undertake projects for People Services that enable continuous improvement of the services and function and self-development in the role.
Contribute to organisation-wide projects from time to time, bringing People expertise to the project team.

General:
