We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, money management and access to training and employment services. The postholder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers. 

The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice or in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and housing policies/legislations, with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.

Advice Work

• Carry out assessments to identify urgent needs and appropriate support pathways for members at the Community Wellbeing Service.
• Support outreach or community engagement activities as needed.
• Provide holistic and person-centred advice and casework on the main enquiry areas, particularly welfare benefits, housing, employment, health and wellbeing, immigration and money management.
• Maintain Sufra’s Advice Quality Standards and meeting tangible outcomes.
• Produce detailed case records on our case management system for the purpose of continuity, statistical monitoring and report preparation
• Apply for funds from trusts and foundations to support individuals and families with essential costs such as housing deposits or white-goods and/or cancellation of debts;
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders for joined up working, including statutory and voluntary service providers, making referrals for guests where appropriate.
• Enable and support guests to act for themselves, wherever appropriate.
• Monitor the progression of all cases to the point of resolution.
• Conduct follow-up calls with guests where needed and track outcomes
• Support volunteers who are working on delivering Advice Services e.g triage volunteers and pathways volunteers
• Provide advice to the General Advice Service as and when required

Case Management

• Manage own caseload and work independently to support guests
• Use of Case Management System (AdvicePro) as well as Microsoft Office for communication and document production.
• Support with developing case studies and gathering guest feedback
• Collect statistical information as requested for reporting purposes.
• Feed into the development of monitoring reports for funders and other stakeholders

Other Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the charity’s record of referral and signposting agencies;
• Ensure data protection regulations are adhered to, and that sensitive data is handled in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
• Keep informed of new and changing legislation relevant to the post, and of local issues and policies
• Be committed to the aims, procedures and policies of Sufra’s advice service in every aspect of service delivery.
• Take part in supervisions, personal development training, team meetings and appraisals
• Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the operations of the charity.

Learning and Development Facilitator

Location: This role is a hybrid role and there will be an expectation to travel to London once or twice a month, which is inclusive of your salary.

Role Responsibilities

You will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging content to our employees across the business, and you will play a key role in driving forward our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion training through learning programs working closely with our EDI Co-Ordinator.

The role also comes with administration responsibilities, and you will be responsible for scheduling courses and working on our learning management system (LMS). African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 29 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education. The role is centred around three core elements: charity management, programme delivery, and fundraising.

Responsibilities

1. Charity management (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Line management of the Programme Officer in all respects including recruitment, conduct, capability, welfare, personal development.
• Indirect (matrix) management of the in-country Foundation Coordinators.
• Key member of the broader UK Management team.
• Support the COO and Chair of Trustees with the overall Governance framework of the charity including standards, processes and reporting.
• Primary point of contact for the board of Trustees day-to-day, supporting the Chair of the Trustees in the coordination and administration of Board activity.
• Lead on development, oversight and operation of charity standards, processes and systems.
• Work alongside the charities dedicated Finance Officer in ensuring good financial management of income and expenditure through planning, approvals, and processes.
• Attend a variety of external charitable, donor, and operational events or locations as required from time to time.
• Work closely with supporting departments like Finance, Marketing, and Travel Operations on all charity related matters.
• Handle day-to-day enquiries, questions, and issues related to the Foundation.

2. Programme Delivery (delivered by the Programme Officer)

• Ensure that a clear, documented process is in place for receiving, triaging, and managing requests related to volunteer projects and charity support.
• Lead the prioritisation process for articulated charitable requests, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained and properly documented.
• Support strong project management throughout the planning and delivery of approved charitable projects.
• Ensure a robust MEAL [Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning] process is in place for measuring and reporting on the impact of the charity’s work with its beneficiaries, donors, and trustees.

3. Fundraising (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Responsible for the developing and managing the Fundraising Opportunities Portfolio ensuring all stakeholders have clear visibility of funding gaps and opportunities for current and prospective donors.
• Responsible for leading on developing fundraising activities as informed by the Fundraising Strategy to drive income and cover operational expenditure.
• Maintain strong Donor relationships and develop grant applications adding to support a healthy funding pipeline to ensure we meet the charities fundraising targets.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure effective marketing and social media strategies in are in place and to maximise the opportunities they provide.

What We’re Looking For:

Due to the breadth of this role, we would only expect an incumbent to have relevant experience in 2 of the 3 core elements of the role as a minimum, but with a strong desire to develop and learn in the 3rd with dedicated support.

Essential:

• Excellent Written & Communication skillset. A true collaborator.
• Experience in the Charity sector in a Management/Leadership capacity.
• Experience in Project Management and/or Delivery.
• A passion for driving improvement and change, to the betterment of children in Africa.

Overview of the International Chief Projects Officer

The International Chief Projects Officer (ICPO) will lead and oversee the Projects Department, and reports to the International Chief Executive Officer.

The ICPO will drive the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of Barnabas’ projects around the world. The ICPO will work closely with the International CEO, senior leadership team, and local project partners to identify opportunities, ensure effective and efficient resource allocation, and deliver impactful results that align with Barnabas’ mission to support persecuted and suffering Christians.

The ICPO will ensure that Barnabas’ projects are strategically aligned with the organisation’s goals, operationally effective, and financially sustainable, while maintaining the highest standards of accountability and impact measurement.

Our Recovery Worker will be an integral part of the 121 floating support service which is an integrated, coordinated and holistic service aiming to support individuals with mental health needs within the community.

You will have a case load of clients to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain independence and identify strengths, goals and aspirations.

Your focus will be reducing social isolation and building social networks of support and signposting clients to local community resources. You will help the team in promoting an environment where service users are experts by their experience.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. 

Their vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. To achieve their mission, they are looking for a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to lead the high value function, including income from major donors, corporate partners, and trusts and grants. The P&P team also encompasses volunteering and relationships held with the family of member charities.  

There is currently an interim Head of P&P in place until August to ensure progress continues towards the income ambition, and to support the team.  

The P&P function is on a journey, much work has been done to embed effective processes and a consistent approach to pipelining. There has been much improvement so far, but there remains a lot of scope for the incoming Head to shape the team, define areas of focus and ways of working.  

The team have had significant success this year, especially in the corporate partnerships space, so there is energy and enthusiasm to harness. There are exciting opportunities for high value fundraising connected to the launch of new Centres of Excellence across the UK, and some key events in the calendar such as a major donor dinner in September.  

This role would suit an experienced fundraiser across major donor or corporate income streams. You will have led a team before, and have experience of designing and delivering fundraising strategies.  

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to come into a team that is on the right path, but needs a confident Head of to ensure the team works in the most effective way, and to provide support and guidance to the team.

The role is based at our offices in Finchley, N3. Due to the nature of our work, we require someone to be present in the office 5 days a week. We have a welcoming and relaxed office environment, but also take pride in our professional standards.

South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) aims to provide effective care and community support for people as they leave prison and re-integrate back into the locality, within the counties of Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset.  This includes mentoring, practical support and signposting to assist the integration of ex-prisoners into their communities, in collaboration with other professionals.

We are actively seeking to strengthen our team of Community Chaplains and specifically to appoint a new Community Chaplain in Cornwall, to work with people in the community after they have served a sentence.  The role is also a strategic one, in that it will involve extending the network of support in the county, through the development of support hubs with other service providers.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the Equality Act 2010 for applicants to actively embrace the Christian faith ethos and values of SWCC, and to be able to promote an environment where people of all faiths, and people of none, can work together for the transformation of lives and communities.  The successful applicant will have the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people, from aged 15 to 80!  Flexible Homeworking is possible by agreement.  The role entails a significant amount of travel, and some occasional weekend and evening work will be involved.
