Senior Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Manager

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will bring:

• Extensive Legacy & In Memory fundraising experience with a minimum of two years at manager level
• A track record of delivering innovation in generating income from Legacies
• Experience of planning, implementing and monitoring large budgets to agreed deadlines
• Experience of leading, inspiring and empowering colleagues to promote legacies and deliver excellent results
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral with the proven ability to communicate with persuasion and credibility
• Excellent Marketing skills to deliver growth from consumer marketing across multiple mediums including digital

Role Summary    

This exciting role will enable Alcohol Change UK to reach millions of people across the UK with key messages about alcohol and alcohol harm, delivered through print, online, and broadcast media engagement tactics. With a high level of existing press interest in our work and campaigns (including our flagship Dry January® campaign), this is an exciting moment as we look to develop our proactive media engagement and share reframed stories about alcohol which resonate with a huge audience. Your work will drive significant awareness of our organisation, and ultimately enable millions of people to transform their relationship with alcohol.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities    

Media engagement  

• Manage the organisation’s media inbox and phone line, handling enquiries from journalists and providing responses in a timely manner

• Provide regular out of hours media cover on a rota basis (scaling depending on busier campaign periods, shared fairly with others and TOIL provided for hours worked)

• Develop public media statements and quotes across the whole spectrum of Alcohol Change UK’s work, issuing to press both reactively and proactively

• Provide ongoing development of our key lines library, regularly reviewing responses we have on file for a range of topics 

• Support Alcohol Change UK spokespeople (Chief Executive, Directors and others) prepare for interviews: developing tailored briefings ahead of opportunities, providing a sounding board to rehearse key lines when required and giving feedback on appearances to support ongoing development

• Manage our media database and reporting tools, providing regular condensed reports for the Director of Communications and Marketing/CEO/Board and develop insights-gathering to better inform our media engagement strategy

• With the Director of Communications and Marketing, play a key role in media crisis management, escalating issues as appropriate, suggesting solutions and developing organisational responses to sensitive situations

• Support the deployment of Alcohol Change UK voices, working closely with the Engagement Team to identify Community Champions, Ambassadors and others who are happy to be supported to share their experiences of alcohol and alcohol harm with the media

Developing a new proactive media strategy  

• Plan and deliver a new strategy for generating proactive media coverage, where Alcohol Change UK’s research, campaigns, parliamentary and wider activity connect with larger audiences in a strategic way

• Working closely with teams across the organisation, craft compelling media plans and press releases to generate coverage of our work

• Bring fresh energy to opportunity spotting, securing opinion pieces, expert comment, letters to editors and other ‘newsjacking’ content – particularly on ‘culture change’ topics such as sober shaming and stigma 

• Manage relationships with key journalists in our sector, exploring opportunities for partnerships and exclusives

Campaign media activity  

• Particularly for our flagship Dry January® campaign, and with the support of the Director of Communications and Marketing, develop media support briefs for external media agencies, when required 

• Develop fresh strategies and media angles for annual campaigns (Dry January®, Sober Spring, Alcohol Awareness Week) to keep activity engaging for public and returning audiences

• Think creatively to craft media strategies which are tailored to reach segmented audience groups, aligning with targets for individual campaigns to reach under-served communities 

• Provide detailed campaign media evaluations, insights and learning reports

• Work closely with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’ 

• Contribute actively and positively to charity-wide strategies 

• Continually develop your knowledge of alcohol harm and solutions to it

We are looking for an individual who will support the development and execution of communication activity aligned with MHFA England’s membership, media and campaign plans. The post holder will create and promote a range of content across different channels (earnt and owned) to help the team in meeting its objectives.

You will help MHFA England to deliver integrated communications and campaigns, working with the marketing and communications team and wider organisation. Art Fund is the UK’s national fundraising charity for art. We give grants to help museums, galleries, historic houses and public arts organisations to acquire objects for their collections, to share them with as many people as possible, and to support research and training for museum professionals. The role

The Campaign Coordinator, with an excellent understanding of B2B, will coordinate business to business campaigns to increase awareness of Art Fund and its activities amongst arts professional audiences and their museum visitors. With demonstrable experience of managing marketing campaigns, they will deliver promotional activity to increase uptake of our grant-giving programmes, national events with museums, digital products and services for Museums.

The post holder will work with internal teams to implement activity across a number of owned, earned and paid channels (online and offline) and evaluate the success of campaigns and contribute to the continuous improvement of marketing activity.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming media enquiries, ensuring journalists receive a prompt and efficient response and briefing spokespeople to help turn incoming enquiries into opportunities to proactively communicate key messages.
• Maximising media coverage to support the CIPD’s strategic priorities and our research, policy and campaign agenda. This will involve regularly translating policy matters and research findings into accessible news stories that will resonate with different stakeholder audiences.

Responsibilities:

• To work with the team to collate an overall digital fundraising plan, communication channels, and measures of success
• Develop, create and implement multichannel digital fundraising campaigns, working with the relevant fundraising team
• To monitor new digital fundraising opportunities, agreeing tests with managers subject to budgets, and reporting on performance
• Evaluate, assess and adjust campaigns against digital fundraising and marketing key goals
• Help improve the website as a tool for fundraising and supporter engagement, focusing on the creation and development of landing pages, donation forms, and supporter actions
• Create engaging, impactful, and creative content to support fundraising and marketing campaigns for paid and organic digital and social media activity maximising engagement levels and income growth whenever possible.
• To lead ongoing strategic and operations testing across emails and digital fundraising to optimise fundraising for Haven House
• Produce high-quality, timely and inspiring emails for donors and supporters, to increase income and engagement
• Devise and manage innovative social media campaigns to increase social engagement, ensuring suitable mechanisms are in place to effectively evaluate their success
• Work with website developers to implement Google Analytics and Facebook tracking across the website and third-party tools
• Experience with creating and producing newsletters and appeals within an email service provider and experience with building campaigns through social media tools like Facebook Ad Manager within the software packages

This role will generally be expected to attend the office at least once a week and will have meetings at other locations in London fairly frequently.

Role Summary

This position provides key support for the policy and research functions of the charity, in addition to collaborating on campaigns and public affairs work. You will be responsible for carrying out primary research relevant to the charity’s policy and research functions. You’ll be monitoring and collating new policy and research materials and contributing to public communications including report-writing, blog posts and social media activity. You’ll be providing input into strategic planning regarding policy and research activities. You’ll connect with researchers and policy people from other charities and from universities. Finally, you’ll be attending conferences and meetings on behalf of the charity.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Policy

• Support the P&RM, DR&PA and CEO in responding to public consultations, advising policymakers and working with national policy and research bodies as appropriate.

• Represent the charity in meetings with policy partners where appropriate.

• Attend policy and research conferences on behalf of the charity, providing feedback to the team on key learning and opportunities that arise.

• Work with the SC&PA and DR&PA to draw up influencing strategies to target key stakeholders on policy priorities.

• Monitor external research that helps our policy work and opportunities for collaboration.

• Work with the SC&PA  to engage campaigners in our policy work.

Research

• Work with the P&RM to carry out research activities relevant to the policy and research functions of the charity; including collating and analysing data, and co-authoring reports for both internal and public purposes.

• Work with the P&RM and the Communications and Marketing teams to produce engaging and accessible communication of research findings for a range of audiences. 

• Monitor and collate new policy and research materials, including research reports, policy documents and media activity. Work with the P&RM to produce internal reports where appropriate and to ensure the charity’s activities reflect and respond to the wider policy and research environment.

• Work with the P&RM on external research projects funded by the charity, including support with assessing the quality of bids by external researchers. 

Across both areas

• Produce social media communications where relevant to policy and research. Work with colleagues across the Research and Public Affairs and Communications and Marketing teams to develop strategies for maximising impact, especially in digital communications.

• Contribute to strategic planning by contributing to staff meetings, producing supporting materials and providing feedback on public affairs.

The postholder will also be expected to:

• attend training courses and develop skills as required, sharing learning with other staff as relevant

• in unusual circumstances, work weekend and / or evening hours, for which time in lieu will be given

• undertake other reasonable work as requested by the P&RM.

Our Direct Marketing Team is part of this department, and recruits and develops supporters. We are seeking a Direct Marketing Officer to join this team to manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. This individual will be recruiting, retaining and upgrading regular donors to generate income through a variety of direct marketing methods such as direct dialogue, DRTV, digital, and direct mail. They will be encouraging regular monthly gifts or support via one of our main products such as general Regular Giving and Sponsorship, our Lottery, Value Exchange programme and other methods of committed giving as they arise.
