Main objectives of the role

Fundraising

• Support the setting of the charity’s fundraising targets through the research and review of both external and internal fundraising activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of the charity’s fundraising activities and campaigns.
• Collate the agreed metrics (including income and expenditure) and report on a weekly basis.
• Participate fully in the generation of fundraising ideas and activity selection.
• Design, prepare and implement the agreed activities and campaigns, which are likely to be varied in nature and might include dedicated fundraising events, grant applications to support families in disadvantaged socio-economic groups, and legacy generation.
• Recommend changes and updates to the activities and campaigns based on testing and evidenced data.
• Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of fundraising activities and campaigns, including both income and impact.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing individuals and organisations, such as member alumni and grant-making trusts and foundations.

Promoting the Charitable Aims of the Charity

• Work with the Community Information Coordinator to utilise all appropriate opportunities to convey these messages.

• Design and coordinate an effective system to enhance the membership offer and improve membership renewal and retention.
• Work with the administration and community teams to ensure that the journey from interested party to becoming a member and from member to retained member is compelling and framed coherently and that systems are in place to effectively implement this.
• Work with the Community Information Coordinator on campaigns and strategies to reach new members, engage with existing members and retain existing members.

Ways of Working:

The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

Purpose of the role 

We are looking for enthusiastic consultant ready to work in a fast-paced organisation who can easily grasp and communicate impact to the different audiences across our work for fair finance. The consultant will be an exceptional writer across different platforms and a strategic thinker, with a solid understanding of our audiences and the best ways to share our story with them. They will join up three components of our finance work – transparency, consumer voice and our Fair Digital Finance Accelerator – with a core focus on our consumer voice profile. They will love the opportunities that come with working in an entrepreneurial environment, with a drive to deliver excellence and aptly raise our profile across core moments part of our fair finance agenda  - launches of our latest findings and research, events and campaigns.

Key Responsibilities 

Content generation  

• Draft compelling content for the different audiences of our fair finance work and for a broad suite of communications, including for our website, social media, materials and externally placed opinion pieces. Both this and the Leadership responsibility are core focus areas for this position.

Leadership  

• Develop the Communications Strategy for our Fair Finance work, creating informed and compelling messages and strategic KPIs which help deliver on programme and organisational goals and resonate with audiences.

• Provide strategic oversight to the design, delivery and evaluation of core global finance moments (such as research, events and campaigns).

• Navigate any communications issues relating to this work.

Driving efficiency and continuous improvement  

• Use and develop efficient systems and processes to help improve how we plan and evaluate communications for this work, and to pre-plan to mitigate issues. 

• Be diligent in monitoring the results of our communications performance, to proactively share outcomes with the team and help to improve outcomes. 

Using relationships for change 

• Build relationships with our Members, partners and donors to share their story, make them feel valued and ensure they promote our initiatives.

• Collaborate and work closely with the Fair Finance Team, Global Communications Coordinator and Head of Communications and Membership.

Deliverables

Typical deliverables during the tenure of this post will include:

• Content generation for long/short form content placed on our website and social media.

• Content (primarily opinion pieces) developed, pitched and placed on external partner platforms and/or the media.

• Media placement where relevant, including through press releases, letters to editors and op-eds.

• Strategic Communications Strategy for Finance, and project specific communications plans, which shows understanding of our audiences, messages and with goals aligning to organisational KPIs.

• Finance Communications Address book developed across core partners, based on strong relationships developed.

• Materials and/or audio visual content developed (working with external suppliers to do so) as and when there is a case for it.

The role

The research communications and engagement team at Breast Cancer Now makes breast cancer research accessible and engaging to everyone. Its aim is to highlight the value and impact of research and build continued trust and support for the charity.

You'll use your science communication expertise to bring our research to life. You’ll create content covering Breast Cancer Now’s research aims, progress, and achievements for a variety of channels including our social media, website, fundraising and print publications. You’ll work with members of the brand, marketing and communications teams, and digital teams to make sure research content is engaging and drives brand awareness and support. 

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll understand the impact of research and scientific communication for charitable organisations. You’ll be able to translate complex scientific information and tailor it to a variety of audiences. And you’ll use your excellent writing and verbal communication skills to interpret and present scientific and statistical information in creative and meaningful ways.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our Cardiff/Glasgow/London/Sheffield office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

Community Fundraising Executive

 Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health globally, tackling mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, testicular cancer.

In our mission to stop men dying too young, we’re seeking a passionate Community Fundraising Executive to join our London based team.

About the role

You will support fundraisers across the schools audience, providing them with a remarkable experience and keep them coming back to the charity.

The role will focus on both retention of high-value supporters and acquisition of new supporters, with a particular focus on the Movember campaign in November.

You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Clerkenwell office. This role is being offered on a full time fixed term basis (12 months).

You’ll have the opportunity to

· Collaborate with Senior Community Fundraising Manager on school project plan, meeting targets.

· Provide regular data and reports on progress to Senior Manager.

· Identify opportunities for new school supporters, aligning with targets.

· Develop segmented reactivation plan for past supporters.

· Record supporter data and interactions on Salesforce.

· Manage day-to-day school supporter relations, ensuring consistency.

· Act as main point of contact for schools, with timely responses.

· Co-create reward plan with Senior Manager to enhance supporter value.

· Assist in developing engaging fundraising tools for schools.

· Represent Movember at events, increasing public awareness.

For this role, you’ll need

· Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a fundraising role.

· Proven experience of relationship management and stewardship.

· Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of stakeholders, internal and external.

· Highly developed organisation skills, the ability to prioritise and manage projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

· Problem-solving skills with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative

· Adaptability and flexibility.

We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in this newly created 18 month fixed term contract.

Your role will be to plan, design, and deliver data analysis activities to draw insight from a range of sources which can be used to inform policy, research, campaigns, and service delivery. Using data science, you will help design new solutions to complex challenges facing the armed forces community and those who support them, and be at the heart of building and understanding the evidence base to inform RBL’s future strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Research, you will support teams across RBL to collect, analyse, and use data in ways that enable effective, efficient understanding of needs of the armed forces community, what is being delivered to meet these needs, the impact this makes, and where improvements can be made.

Some key responsibilities will include:

· Design, advise on, and conduct accurate, timely analysis of data from sources across RBL, using a range of statistical tools and techniques

· Explore, analyse, and visualise data from external sources including national surveys, studies, and databases

· Monitor the latest developments in data science and create innovative proposals for new ways to create, combine, analyse, and use data

· Draw conclusions and recommendations from data, transforming data into insights that help address complex problems and inform decision-making, and present these in a range of formats.

· Advise on design and define data requirements for future information collection systems and research, to enable deeper and practical insights for future service planning, policy influencing, and campaigns

· Work closely with Campaigns, Policy & Research colleagues to maximise use of internal and external data to inform and evidence policy positions, asks, and campaigns

· Develop relationships with research, analysis, and data stakeholders, for example in academic institutions, research agencies, charities, government departments, other public bodies, the Armed Forces community, and data science professionals across a range of sectors.

You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings) to our London Head Office hub.
