About this role
The Communications and Media Officer, part of SPANA’s Communications and Campaigns team, creates high-quality content and drives impactful communications to support the charity’s mission and raise the profile of working animals in the global news agenda.
The role involves producing engaging written, digital and visual content across multiple platforms, ensuring consistency with SPANA’s brand and messaging. It also includes managing and cataloguing content assets to support the organisation’s ongoing communications needs. Through compelling storytelling and collaboration across teams, the role helps drive awareness, advocacy, fundraising and internal engagement. The post holder will also support the Head of Communications and Campaigns in building and maintaining relationships with high-profile public figures, including celebrities and social media influencers.
Contract, location and salary
This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. SPANA works on a hybrid basis, with staff required to work for 1-2 days per month (or more if preferred) from our London office. Staff must be based in the UK with the current right to work.
The salary for this role is approximately £33,000 per annum subject to skills and experience. SPANA offers a generous package of benefits to employees, including a pension scheme where SPANA contributes 10% if the employee contributes at least 5%, healthcare cash plan and volunteer day.

Salesforce Administration:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legacy and In Memory Officer to join the St Mungo’s Fundraising team to grow income supporting our aims to end rough sleeping for good. In this role you will be responsible for:
- Managing the steady stream of legacy case work, including pecuniary, specific, life interest, and residuary legacies.
- Working with lay executors, solicitors, co-beneficiaries and family members/friends to sensitively and efficiently administer legacy and in memory gifts.
- Overseeing the process for all legacy and in memory income - working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure income is processed accurately and efficiently. Keeping effective records, maintaining the legacy pipeline, and completing reports.
- Working with the Legacy Manager to deliver marketing campaigns to acquire and steward new supporters. Gathering stories to promote legacy and in memory giving internally and externally.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. About you
We think this role will inspire someone keen to build on and develop their legacy administration skills, marketing skills and fundraising experience as part of a positive, dedicated and supportive team.
We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience in a charity legacy or estate administration role who can balance the two sides to this role. The legal administration of legacy income requires excellent attention to detail, but the legacy marketing responsibilities also require project management and creative skills to manage activity that can build on St Mungo’s portfolio of legacy supporters.
- You will be proactive and empathetic with a flexible approach and be comfortable managing your own time and projects.
- You will be comfortable using IT software, databases and systems such as Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Previous experience of Legacy marketing experience within a charity, and a certificate of Charity Legacy Administration are beneficial but not essential.

As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. The Strategy, Impact and Evidence teamplays an important part in supporting our vision by providing robust evidence on sustainable and active travel that ultimately influences and shapes policy, practice and behaviour across the UK.
Focusing on monitoring and evaluating the impact of infrastructure and behaviour change programmes, you will work on a range of projects around the UK and be involved in the planning, delivery, analysis and reporting of our monitoring and evaluation work.

Overview of the role:
- Support the delivery of our quarterly campaigns by working with the team to create engaging and exciting content.
- Act as a brand champion ensuring branding and messaging is consistent and accessible.

- Coordinate campaign and ad hoc content creation

Person Specification
We are looking looking for an efficient, well-organised, enthusiastic person to join the team with the following qualities.

- Be able to multitask and prioritise.

Salary and hours
- Salary: £28,000 per annum, full time equivalent (this salary is consistent with our organisational pay structure). We would consider a freelancer.
- Part time: 16 hours per week.
- Fixed term, maternity cover contract for 9 months.
- The role holder has autonomy to create a working schedule that fits their needs. We do require at least 4 hours on a Monday as that is a core working day. The remainder of the working hours can be worked flexibly across the week in business hours.
- This is a remote role.
- There are 2-3 meetings a year that could be attended in person if that suited the role holder but can be attended online.

During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-5 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme. Recently we’ve focused on developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.
Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly. People with a learning disability, neurodiversity and their family carers are inclusively supported by social prescribers for advice and by health educators/coaches for health-related matters if needed.
