JOB DESCRIPTION 

We are hiring two Community Engagement Officers to join our ambitious team. Reporting to the Community

Engagement Manager, these two roles will work closely together to support the growth of our Community Giving Program from £310,000 to £650,000 over the next three years.

The Community Engagement Officer will be be responsible for implementing, and supporting the development of, our donor acqusition and retention strategies for key organisations across our catchment area; identifying new opportunities for growth, and analysing the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives to ensure targets are achieved. The post holder will excel at providing exceptional stewardship and using data insight to guide decision-making.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking a professional fundraiser with demonstrable experience in community fundraising or corporate partnerships. Experience managing a portfolio of community groups or in securing successful long-term partnerships is essential. 

You will be a friendly, empathetic and confident public speaker who enjoys networking with a variety of internal and external stakeholders – able to instantly connect with others and communicate effectively about our work. 

You will hold a full UK driving license and be willing to travel across our catchment area to meet supporters.

Occasionally undertaking weekend, early morning, and evening work – time off in lieu will be given.

About the role

​As a Training Coordinator for SafeLives, you will provide effective and efficient co-ordination of resources and support for the Training team, commissioners and learners across all SafeLives’ training programmes.

Duties include:

• Respond to learner, commissioner and partner emails in a timely way and manage your inbox efficiently
• Serve as the first point of contact by answering and managing daily phone communications, including calls from the public
• Manage financial tasks such as invoicing, checking credit card payments, and verifying incoming invoices (weekly)

• Process course applications, waiting lists and subsidies using Arlo (online bookings software)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of our Active Journeys team in the Tees Valley area, where you will help shape healthier, happier communities through walking, wheeling, and cycling. 

As Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and oversight of behaviour change and engagement projects, as well as leading and supporting the delivery team. You’ll be at the heart of creating positive change, ensuring projects are cost-efficient, timely, and impactful. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Lead the delivery of behaviour change and engagement projects and campaigns to encourage active travel.
• Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery in line with objectives and timelines.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local authorities, community groups, and partner organisations.
• Collaborate with the Sustrans Volunteering Team to coordinate and promote volunteer and community champion opportunities.
• Provide leadership and day-to-day oversight of an interdisciplinary delivery team.

• Represent Sustrans through presentations, workshops, and meetings with existing and potential partners. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

You will bring a solid understanding of active travel and the barriers faced by communities experiencing inequalities, alongside knowledge or practical experience in behaviour change concepts and approaches. 

You will have demonstrable experience in: 

• Managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, particularly those with a strong emphasis on community engagement.
• Facilitating workshops and delivering presentations to diverse audiences, both in person and online.
• Communicating effectively across a range of formats and with varied audiences.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coach, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.
• Provide personalised information, advice and support.
• Supporting stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.

You will have experience in:

• Experience/background in a caring profession, ideally supporting people with disabilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the policy, evidence and influencing team. You’ll help us to deliver change for people affected by breast cancer, undertaking research that informs our policy positions.

You’ll develop and deliver a strategy for driving research and insight that supports policy development and provides the basis for our influencing activity. You’ll interpret and summarise existing research in key policy areas and undertake new research - either by designing and delivering it yourself, or commissioning external partners to do this for us - and ensure the results are shared both internally and externally.

You’ll have experience of working in a relevant research role, using a wide range of research methodologies, commissioning research and involving people with lived experience and other stakeholders in your work.

You’ll be an excellent communicator who is able to translate complex information into accessible language, have strong analytical skills, be able to think strategically whilst also having an eye for detail, and experience of managing projects.

The Policy and Advocacy Manager will play a key role in the Doctors of World UK policy and advocacy team and organisation, driving and shaping UK health policy and delivering programmes to advance the right to health in the UK.

The role works to maximise DOTW’s influence and impact on health policy debates whilst influencing practice in health services to ensure accessible and equitable healthcare for everyone living in the UK.

The new funding will include launching our successful Perinatal support into the Cambridge area. As we have team and support spread across the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough there may be occasions for the successful candidate to travel across both areas.

The main purpose of this role is to deliver the support we offer to new parents in our area by providing a collection of tools and techniques to promote positive mental wellbeing through our groups and one to one sessions.

The successful candidates will have demonstrable awareness and understanding of how perinatal mental health problems affect women and men and their families and a positive approach to mental health, wellbeing and tackling stigma.

Role Description

Management of and responsibility for the financial planning, budgeting and administration for all of the charity’s activities and staff. Working with the CEO and Outreach Manager, the role will develop and implement Yada’s financial strategy, engage with supporters, donors, businesses and communities to secure financial support for the charity’s maintenance and growth, whilst seeking new funding opportunities, including writing  grants applications. 

Line Manager: CEO

Hours/Days: 3 days (21 hours)

Salary: £32,166.60 pro rata

Start date: 1st September 2025

Contract: 1 year fixed term, subject to funding

Location: Yada Offices, Worthing 

Key responsibilities:

Overarching responsibilities

• Working with the CEO, have oversight of all financial aspects of the charity

• With the CEO, have responsibility for financial strategy, planning and budgeting, ensuring financial stability of the charity

Financial management 

• Ensure the budget provides for the charity’s objectives

• Work with Bookkeeper to ensure accurate records of income/expenditure (Quickbooks)

• Oversee and manage monthly payroll (Payroo) and pension scheme (NEST)

• Manage relationship with HMRC including Gift Aid claims and prepare donor statements

• To support CEO  with preparation of the annual and fundraising budgets

• Prepare Annual Charity Accounts (cc16a) and manage independent Examination

• Comply with financial policies and procedures

• Manage charity bank accounts and monitor cash reserves and investments

• Process all invoices for payment

Fundraising 

• Develop and implement fundraising strategies

• Build relationships with key donors

• Research and apply for grants

• Monitor funding timelines and write end of grant reports

• Lead on organising fundraising campaigns and events

Other Responsibilities

• To attend monthly team meetings and be an active member in decision making for Yada’s future

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in finance, fundraising, business, or related field

Experience

• Proven experience in financial management and budgeting within a charity or non-profit context

• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies

• Successful track record of securing funding from grants, donors or other income sources

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong financial literacy, including budget preparation and monitoring

• Knowledge of charity accounting and reporting requirements (e.g., cc16a)

• Proficiency with financial tools such as QuickBooks, Payroo, NEST & Excel

• Understanding of Gift Aid and HMRC compliance

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
