The Martin James Foundation (MJF) is a global network of charitable organisations working with a shared vision of a world in which children grow up and thrive in safe and loving families.
Through our work, we strive to bring an end to institutional care for children, including orphanages, by engaging in family strengthening work and gatekeeping to prevent family separation, reunification and reintegration of children back into their families and communities when possible and facilitating family-based alternative care when it is necessary.
The Foundation is comprised of the following:
• MJF Global - utilises technical and financial resources generated by the Foundation to invest in partner organisations that support children and families in various countries, contributing to the global efforts in deinstitutionalising care practices.
• Key Assets - independent, non-profit fostering agencies in Australia, Canada, Japan, and New Zealand delivering charitable services for children, families and communities.
The Role:
The Martin James Foundation is currently seeking a new Chairperson. This is an exciting time for the Foundation as we continue to deliver on our new Strategy. We are looking for an individual who will contribute to guiding the charity on its mission to support children and families around the world.
For the Chairperson role, we are hoping to attract candidates with the following:
- Required - Experience in a leadership capacity within the i) children’s social care sector, ideally foster care and/or family support services, ii) and/or in the provision of global development,
- Required – Time commitment – availability to prepare for and attend quarterly board meetings, quarterly sub-committee meetings and monthly CEO catch-ups (estimate 8hrs per month),
- Location – UK, or amenable to attend meetings within GMT working hours, and amenable to attending one face to face meeting per annum.
- Desirable – Local or national government engagement experience, such as securing and delivering contracts or lobbying for policy change,
- Desirable – Prior experience as a Charity Trustee (or non-UK equivalent), ideally as a Chair
Applications from people with experience in the practical, operational delivery of community and development projects, either in the UK or internationally, would be highly welcomed.
Board positions are voluntary, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, and any training costs will be covered.

Healthwatch Haringey is the independent ‘people’s champion’ for health and social
care in the London Borough of Haringey.
We actively seek out the views of the public and patients on all matters relating to
health and social care, e.g. their experience in hospital, interim care, at the GP or
dentist, and collate those together to produce impact statements and reports.
With this evidence we seek to campaign for and change for the better the way

for someone who has the transferrable skills to play a leading part in the future of
Healthwatch Haringey.
You will ensure Healthwatch Haringey is well governed with robust policies and
procedures in place, continue to establish and build constructive relationships with
Healthwatch Haringey’s key stakeholders and represent the organisation externally
whenever appropriate as one of its leading ambassadors.
As well as line managing the Healthwatch Haringey Manager, you will be responsible
for the strategic development of the organisation, the setting of priorities and the
delivery of statutory and contractual obligations.

COPA is a small national registered charity run by older people for older people in Wales. We are the “national voice” for local older people’s groups and want to make sure that older people are listened to, and their demands are acted on. We feed the views and opinions of fora and groups directly into both government and national public organisations. There is strength in numbers and a demand for well organised and informed lobbying that can have a greater influence and reach than is feasible by any individual or local group
The number and proportion of older people in Wales has been increasing for decades and their needs have become more complex and diverse. Changes in society and politics mean that the challenges facing many older people, particularly those on low incomes or in poor health are struggling to be sufficiently recognised. In COPA we have prioritised a range of issues to address including tackling age discrimination, creating Age Friendly Communities, building intergenerational solidarity, tackling isolation and loneliness, and cost of living and digital inclusion, as well as health, social care, housing and transport. We campaign from a position of independence and the self-determined voice of older people.
In order to address this important agenda and strengthen our charity we are looking to recruit a number of new trustees in 2025. COPA would like to invite any individuals who may be interested in becoming a Trustee to contact us. This is an opportunity to directly influence and contribute to the work of a charity that is making a difference to the lives of older people across Wales. Spike Island is a dynamic arts centre and registered charity that supports, produces and presents contemporary art across an 80,000 square foot former industrial building near Bristol’s harbourside. We run a diverse programme of exhibitions and events; and directly support artists through major new commissions, subsidised studios and development opportunities. The Board of Trustees is critical in setting and overseeing Spike Island’s mission, and working with the executive team to lead on and enact the vision for the organisation’s future.
