Care volunteer roles

Items in the lending library need a lot of care to keep them in good working order. All electrical items need PAT testing and all items need to be checked to see if they work.

Responsibilities: You would check over items for any damage and also that they work when they come in. Ideally the item carer would also be a trained PAT tester so that they can PAT test items when they are donated (we can also train you if you need).

Skills required: Experience of working with various tools including power tools. Experience of PAT testing or willingness to learn. Basic electrical skills. Any expertise in repairing, either electrical or mechanical, would also be beneficial.

Time commitment: Ideally you could commit to coming in to the shop once a week Saturday (10am-12noon). This could be flexible though. We also need reserves who are happy to be contacted as and when we need someone to step in.

We are seeking to appoint a treasurer (voluntary role) to sit on the board of trustees at Know Your Worth. Know Your Worth is a charity dedicated to helping teenage girls grow self-esteem. Trustees are at the heart of this mission. As a trustee, you help shape the future of our charity. You bring your experience, insight, and care to help guide our strategy, hold us accountable to our values, and ensure our resources are used wisely. 

 We are specifically looking for someone with:

• A passion for the cause of helping teenage girls to grow self-esteem
• Senior finance experience (10+ years).
• Previous treasurer experience on another board (ideally within the charity or non-profit sector).
• An ability to work as a team, courage to challenge constructively where appropriate, whilst being self-aware.
• An awareness of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Being available (within reason) to support the CEO with any financial queries or issues

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong professional background in adult social care, counselling or mental health services to join a well-established and effective Board, and to contribute their experience to ensure that Wimbledon Guild achieves its goals. The Committee Chair will be responsible for representing the Talking Therapies Committee at Board meetings, as well as fulfilling all of the general duties of an active trustee. These include helping to develop strategy, providing oversight, and promoting the highest standards of corporate governance.

About You

The Talking Therapies Committee Chair should demonstrate the following qualities:

- A clear and confident communicator who has experience working at a senior level.

- An ability to take over existing projects and ensure that these are on track for successful delivery.

- A strong professional background in adult social care, mental health services, counselling or related professions

- A willingness to be a committed Board member, and to contribute actively to a skilled and experienced Board.

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

We are seeking Event Doctors to respond and manage emergency calls/incidents at events which may include venues such as stadia, concert halls, motorsports tracks, road races etc. Event doctors shall provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care while undertaking clinical assessment and interventions in the pre-hospital environment. This will mainly involve working in mobile treatment centres or temporary event medical centres.

 Successful candidates will be registered registered medical practitioners with the GMC, without cautions or restrictions, and hold a licence to practice outside of an approved practice setting.

As a Volunteer Hospice Driver, you’ll help transport children and young people for respite stays and fun day trips. You'll be part of the team making these memorable moments possible.

What You’ll Do:

• Drive the Claire House minibus to and from the hospice

• Transport children for activities, outings, and planned respite

• Check the vehicle is safe and roadworthy before each trip

• Support the care team by ensuring passenger safety

Requirements:

• Hold a full clean UK driving licence (checks will be completed prior to starting)

• A confident driver who is happy to drive a minibus

• Aged 21–74 (for insurance purposes)

• Empathetic, professional, and friendly

• A good communicator

• Willing to complete training and follow safety protocols

Now that spring has sprung, we have an excellent seasonal opportunity for those who love the great outdoors and wish to support the animals in our care. If you love to be outside and enjoy gardening, why not consider joining our team as a Gardening Volunteer, supporting our small but mighty Grounds & Maintenance team who look after our 10 acre site. 

About the Role

Based in bucolic Claverton Down, we are lucky to have several large green spaces in which to excercise our dogs - and a brilliant cat garden for our feline friends! This takes a lot of looking after though and we are keen to hear from potential volunteers who would like to take on a specific area of our site as a project, tending to it on a weekly basis and seeing it flourish throughout the summer. There are several areas to choose from, including our Enrichment Paddock, Behaviour Cabin Garden and Pet Cemetery. There are also general gardening tasks to crack on wtih, such as sweeping the Summer House, mowing and strimming, and tackling weeds in the kennel block paddocks. 

This is a rewarding role as you will be able to see at the end of your shift the results of your hard work! You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that you have directly impacted the lives of the animals in our care by creating a safe outside space for them to enjoy off-lead play time and exploration, keeping their bodies active and their brains engaged. 

About You 

You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a love for animals. This role requires elements of manual handling so you will need to be physically fit and this should be considered upon application. You will be a team player who is able to carefully follow instructions and relevant health and safety requirements for the position, for example the use of appropriate PPE. 

Full in person training will be provided by the maintenance team. Your hours will be flexible in line with current staffing levels, but during the spring and summer a weekly requirement of at least 2 hours is required, weather-dependant.

Citadel Community Connectors London is a community-based, volunteer-led support service, designed to help end homelessness and make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most.

Our volunteers help individuals both emotionally and practically in making the move to safe and secure housing. This can include finding and settling into a new home, setting up utilities and bills, sourcing furniture and decorating. Volunteers also help individuals to connect and engage with relevant support providers and networks to help ensure new tenancies are a success.

Our support can be as simple as having a coffee, providing a listening ear, and letting an individual know that someone cares. Our volunteers also bring us ideas, and experiences to shape how we make a difference.

Volunteers receive a full induction, training, and ongoing supervision. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in the community while connecting with like-minded, caring individuals.

We ask that you commit to volunteering for at least an hour a week, for up to six months, and participate in our induction, training, and ongoing support. We will arrange a DBS check, and you will be entitled to reasonable expenses and travel costs.
