Do you have a great idea to benefit people living with MS? At the MS Society, we campaign on a range of issues like welfare, treatments, care and support that people with MS need. We want to do more locally and want to support your ideas on making change happen. Together we can do more.

Perhaps you’ve spotted there are no blue badge spaces at your local supermarket? Or maybe your neighbourhood has no kerbs easy for wheelchairs to use? In this volunteer role, you’ll help drive change for people with MS in your community and develop your networking and influencing skills along the way.

As a campaigner you’ll bring your own ideas, local knowledge and personal experience to your campaigns. You’ll make decisions about your own campaign activities and collaborate with other campaigners in your area.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Would you like to work with others to help develop and nurture our peaceful, restorative gardens? As a Volunteer Gardener at Skanda Vale Hospice, you’ll be helping create and maintain a set of magical spaces designed to uplift everyone who spends time in them. Your attention will be focused on tending the gardens, grounds and garden structures. We encourage everyone to share their ideas and creativity to shape areas for well-being that benefit patients, team and visitors to the hospice.

What will I be doing?

• Mowing, weeding, pruning, sweeping, digging, potting and deadheading.

• Sweeping, weeding and pressure washing ramps, patios and parking areas.

• Depending on your fitness and ability, you might help with building or renewing garden structures.

• On occasion, help the gardening team at Skanda Hafan, Dolgran (a fundraising venue for the hospice).

How much time should I give?

A seasonal time commitment of one day (5-6 hours) per week is requested for this green-fingered role but life doesn't always fit with our schedules so there is some flexibility! Some volunteers also support our occasional open garden events.

• Appropriate clothing including closed-top shoes and gloves.

What training and support will I be given?

Our Gardeners receive induction and training and are invited to team development opportunities. They are supported by the Gardening Lead to feel confident in their role.

We’re looking for two Support Group Volunteers over the age of 18 years old, based at North Oxford Association Community Centre, Diamond Place, Summertown, Oxford, OX2 7DP.

You’ll be volunteering every first and third Tuesday every month between 12:30pm and 3:30pm.

As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group.  The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.

We’re looking for one or two service group supporters over the age of 18 years old, based at Beefeater, Hilden Manor, Hildenborough, TN10 3AN. 

You’ll be volunteering, fortnightly, on a Friday between 10:00am and 11:30am.

As a stroke group supporter you will be part of a team assisting in the running of one (or more) of these service groups and in doing so you help make a real difference to the lives of stroke survivors.

The volunteers will:

· Support people to take part in activities organised for the group.

· Assist our staff in arranging activities for the group, providing information and researching local activity options.

· Meet and greet group members and support our staff in setting-up and clearing away venues for group meetings.

· Help with other tasks to help the group run smoothly such as risk assessments and gathering feedback from people who attend.

· You might also assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in small groups. You would be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.

Purpose of role:

Do you live in Wales and want to gain valuable skills, have new experiences, and support vulnerable people?

We are offering a young person aged 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer for up to 6 months with the Portuguese Red Cross in Águeda, Portugal.

The Portuguese Red Cross in Águeda offers support to the local community in three main areas of voluntary activity: youth, emergency and social.

The youth department runs projects that will see the successful volunteer work with young people in the local community to boost their confidence, promote their involvement with their local community, support the peer to peer education programme and assist with planning and delivering awareness campaigns.

In the emergency department the successful volunteer will assist with the organisation and maintenance of essential emergency supplies as well as providing assistance and wellbeing support to those affected by emergencies and disasters and general event support within the community.

The social department runs a variety of projects including; the essential distribution of food to vulnerable people, the social canteen, food donation drives and working with vulnerable young people by organising activities to promote social inclusion, sports, creative workshops and educational programmes.

The successful volunteer will stay in a shared room in the Agueda Red Cross office with one other volunteer on the programme.

The volunteering hours will never exceed 36 hours/week and the volunteer schedule will be rotating. Volunteers are entitled to two consecutive days of rest per week.

Typical tasks may involve:

Sutton Mental Health Foundation is looking to recruit a volunteer secretary position to the Trust Board, to support and assist the Chair and CEO.  This is an important and confidential role within the Trust.  The main areas of the role are, in consultation with the Chair and CEO, the preparation of all Board/AGM meetings, the preparation of Board/AGM papers, minute taking and writing up the minutes in a timely manner.  Other duties involve the support to the Trustees, as well as updating of trustee records.  Th board of trustees meets in-person, approximately every six weeks, in the London Borough of Sutton. These roles are voluntary; however, the Charity does require a level of commitment for the role. Our Trustees and Governors meet up to 4 evenings per year for full Board / Governor meetings. There are also termly monitoring visits for Governors. Full induction and ongoing training will be provided; a mentor from the existing board will be assigned so that you are supported fully.

The Role

As a Flyer Distributor you will play a crucial role in helping to raise awareness about our services and events within the Enfield community. You will be responsible for disseminating promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and event announcements to various locations within the Enfield area.

• Distribute promotional materials provided by Age UK Enfield to designated locations across the Enfield area. This may include community centers, libraries, local businesses, healthcare facilities, and other relevant locations.
• Engage with members of the public in a friendly and courteous manner while distributing flyers. Answer any questions they may have about Age UK Enfield's services and provide basic information about upcoming events or initiatives.
• Keep accurate records of the locations visited and the quantity of promotional materials distributed. Report back to the supervisor on to provide updates on distribution progress.
• Act as an ambassador for Age UK Enfield by promoting the organisation's mission, values, and services to the community. Help to increase brand recognition and visibility within the local area.

General Key Skills:

• Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• Comfortable with walking and standing for long periods in various weather conditions.

Every year, Me2 Club matches over 130 children who have additional needs or disabilities with committed and passionate volunteers to help them attend and take part in mainstream leisure activities. We tackle the impact of exclusion and social isolation experienced by children and young people and help build their confidence, self-esteem and independence. 

As a member of the Board of Trustees you will be jointly responsible for the legal, effective and safe running of Me2 Club. Working with other Trustees and the Chief Executive Officer you will provide strategic leadership to a growing and ambitious charity. As one of our ‘guardians of purpose’ you’ll make sure that all our decisions put the needs of children and their families first. 

You’ll attend and contribute at regular Board meetings and have the opportunity to get involved in charitable activities from fundraising to meeting beneficiaries at family events.
