Off the Record is an award-winning young people’s mental health charity working across Southwest London.  We are currently celebrating our 30th year. Our Vision is Brilliant, Beautiful and Better mental health for all and our mission is to “show up” for all children and young people's mental health in Southwest London. 

We are a passionate, relational, humanistic organization that works hard to provide compassionate and high-quality mental health support at the point that young people need it rather than at the point of availability.  We provide a range of mental health services to children and young people including Talking therapies, online therapeutic support, a young carers service, therapeutic support to young refugees and asylum seekers, young people in the youth justice system and those impacted by serious youth violence.  Since the pandemic we have increasingly focused on ensuring that we are “all back in” and we love working in the communities in which young people live.

We're looking for a passionate, values-driven CEO to guide our charity into its next inspiring chapter. 

The Coalition registered as a charity in December 2023. We have spent the last 18 months developing the infrastructure of the organisation so we can meet the Charity Commission requirements. We developed a short strategic plan for a 2 year period to ensure we had all of the foundations in place to capitalise on our new charity status. This strategic plan ends in November 2025.

The CEO will set a new five-year strategy for the organisation by building on the solid foundations of the 2 year strategic plan and maximising the opportunities that charity status provides.

The CEO will have oversight across the whole organisation, often acting as the external ‘face’ of The Coalition with our stakeholders and partners. As such, they will represent us, and enable the Disabled community to have their voices heard to achieve equality and independence for Disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.  The CEO will promote the Social Model of Disability and champion accessibility across all services in Surrey.

Job Title: Training and Development Officer

Location: Home-based, covering the South

Salary: £26,000 (pro-rata), you’d get £17,820 (gross)

Hours: 29.6 hours to be worked flexibly over 4 days

Contract: fixed-term to end of March 2028, Term Time Only

What you’ll be doing:

As a Training and Development Officer, you will be working directly with teachers and other education staff supporting their journeys in taking curriculum learning and play outside and to utilise their school grounds. You will deliver LtL’s training and projects within diverse communities across a significant geographical area. This role is part of our exciting new climate change education initiative. It is essential that you are able and willing to travel across the South of England and throughout the UK, including overnight. For more details of the role see the Key Responsibilities document.

What you’ll need:

· To be based in Hampshire/Hampshire borders

· To be able to cover early evening training sessions throughout the area this role covers

· Experience of delivering projects with diverse communities

· Experience of training and advising educational staff in primary or secondary schools.

· Experience of delivering outdoor nature-based and curriculum linked learning activities

· A passion for nature

· Experience of producing written materials; educational resources, reports, and similar project related communications

· Competent IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office, Teams and Outlook)

· Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload

· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions

· Good interpersonal skills

· An understanding of the role safeguarding plays in education

· Ability to work from home or suitable office-type venue
