This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced youth worker to join our Brent team. You will bring energy, compassion, and resilience to make a real change to the life chances of young people in the UK asylum system.

You will be responsible for supporting young people aged 14-25 years, enabling them to access a range of social, emotional, and practical support as they navigate the complex and challenging processes of the UK asylum system.You will help us run activities for young people at our advice hub on Wednesday evenings in Brent and run our youth group on Thursday evenings in Brent n as well as our sporting activities and trips.

You will work closely with our Brent Youth Development Coordinator. You will need to be able to work under pressure, acting as a consistent and stable point of contact for young people, ensuring that their safety and well-being are paramount.

About you

We would like to hear from you if you have the following:

· Demonstrable experience in supporting vulnerable young people in a similar role, particularly through youth activities in 1;1 and/or group settings, or befriending/mentoring 

· Good knowledge of the UK asylum system and the related challenges facing young refugees and asylum-seekers in contingency accommodation

· Strong ability to problem-solve, research information and solutions, and to take initiative

· Working knowledge of child protection issues and safeguarding processes 

· Ability to empathise, communicate and engage effectively with young people in distress 

· Ability to handle complex, sensitive and confidential information appropriately

· You are available to work on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation. 

You will lead a two-year project contributing to the work of the No Wrong Door partnership – local organisations and local residents working together to ensure there is ‘No Wrong Door’ for Black Disabled people seeking employment, as they can expect excellent support from any organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

About the Role

Chance UK has been delivering early-intervention services across London since 1995. Our longest running programme is our mentoring service where Mentors pick the child up from home and run a 1:1 session in the community, once a week for 2 hours. They use the solution-focused approach to work on building the child’s self-esteem and confidence, set goals and explore new places.

In addition, we are growing a range of community based groups running after school as well as some workshops delivered in schools which will support children with developing social and emotional skills and resilience through activities or skills development.

The balance between 1:1 work and group delivery will change according to services commissioned so the post holder will need to be flexible accordingly.

Support Coordinator

We are looking for an innovative, passionate, and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Central Bedfordshire.

Position: S11170 Stroke Association Support Coordinator

The Role

Reporting to a Service Delivery Coach in the East of England, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

· Supporting new stroke survivors and their carers to adjust to life after stroke following hospital discharge into the community.

· Providing personalised information, advice and support.

You will have experience in:

Salary  £25,175 - £29,644  depending on experience.

Holiday  20 days per annum with the addition of time off over the Christmas period when FST closes for two weeks.

FST is a charity and alternative education provider. We have been delivering practical and emotional support, as well as education for vulnerable young people for nearly 20 years. We run projects which encompass personal, social development and life skills. Our flagship mentoring scheme includes one-to-one and small group sessions. The focus is on the outcome, but also on the journey. In addition we collaborate with Caius House to deliver their after-school programme. 

To be part of our success and our FST team, you must have a passion for working directly with young people, delivering a lasting, positive impact to their lives. 

Main aim of the role: 

Playing a vital role within our expanding youth support team at Future Skills, you will work to support and empower our young people to re-engage and return to education and employment. You will be creating structured lesson plans to deliver high quality soft skills sessions. You will be proactive and get involved with the pupil’s daily activities, promoting teamwork and setting a good example. You will also build positive relationships with the young people, fellow professionals, parents and carers as this is key to this role.

In addition to that, you will work with the team here at Caius House to help deliver an after-school programme for young people, usually one evening per week. To this effect, you will work with both the FST team and the team on-site at Caius House.

The post holder will be responsible for: 

• Working with colleagues to develop a soft skills curriculum for our group and one to one sessions.

• Actively participating in the sessions we deliver including off-site trips and sporting activities.

• Undertaking one-to-one and small group mentoring with vulnerable and at-risk young people aged 8-16 years old.

• Working with the FST team delivering personal and social development workshops with excluded young people, encouraging them to engage and develop and challenging negative behaviours.

• Building relationships and regularly communicating with parents/carers and professionals.

• Building positive relationships with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, inspiring and motivating them, acting as a positive role model at all times.

• Bringing passion, ideas, creativity, energy and strategies to all projects.

• Demonstrating understanding of the issues faced by children and young people.

• Keeping accurate records of attendance and session evaluations using our online database system.

• Having an active role in our regular team meetings.

• Complying with the organisational requirements for health and safety, child protection, safeguarding and other policies and procedures.

The post holder should possess:
 

• Previous experience of working with vulnerable, at risk and disengaged children and young people 

• A passion for building relationships with children and young people and helping them grow and develop.

• Experience of building partnerships with other organisations and communicating with professionals as well as parents and carers

• Knowledge of formal and informal education systems.

• Ability to be flexible and adaptable, reliable and innovative.

• Ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated and driven to succeed

• Well-developed people skills and excellent organisational skills. 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Good working knowledge of main office applications (word and excel)

• An up to date DBS.

About us: Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Since 2003, Tender’s work has grown and diversified from a single workshop programme delivered to schools, into a broader range of programmes reaching both children and young people and professionals with a safeguarding responsibility such as teachers, youth workers, social care workers and foster carers. Tender’s programmes include Healthy Relationships projects delivered across England, projects delivered using online resources and technology, specialist projects for vulnerable children and young people, whole school and whole setting approaches, and training for professionals with safeguarding responsibility and in workplaces.

About the role: We now have a need for a coordinator to work closely with the whole development team (comprising a Development Director, Development Manager, Development Officer, Major Donor Consultant and the CEO) in coordinating all aspects of our fundraising work, from identifying prospects, creating compelling funding applications through to successfully managing relationships with funders. This role will give you experience of all of our funding streams, as well as exposure to our funders through your work in organising and managing our various events throughout the year, such as our annual awards.

What you will be doing:

• Supporting all members of the Development team to achieve the team’s annual fundraising targets
• Preparing and submitting applications in support of fundraising from trusts & foundations, statutory funders, corporates, major donors, and individual givers
• Supporting all members of the Development team to develop relationships with Tender’s funders and successfully steward relationships to achieve further funding
• Supporting the Development team in coordinating and delivering events in support of Tender’s fundraising activities

Essential requirements:

• Good understanding of the principles of different fundraising streams, including trusts & foundations and corporate
• Proficiency in office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines
• Forming sound, evidence-based decisions and taking personal responsibility for actions
