OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (the Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for a creative and proactive individual who has experience of supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Working with survivors of domestic abuse as an outreach worker, you will play a crucial role in advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and empowerment.

JOB PURPOSE

• To provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, risk assessment and safety planning.
• To develop individual support plans, which address the risk of harm and offer information, advocacy, advice and signposting to survivors, underpinned by individual risk and need.
• To empower survivors, thereby increasing self- esteem, reducing isolation and helping survivors to keep safe.
• To provide survivors with information relating to their rights and ensuring survivors are empowered to make decisions based on their options.
• To work in collaboration with the adult team and wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work as part of a team providing high quality support, advice, advocacy and information to survivors of domestic abuse.
• Manage a caseload in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work in a needs led way with a specific focus on a trauma informed approach, which recognises domestic abuse and its impact.
• Work holistically with survivors, recognising individual needs, and help survivors to recognise and build on their strengths and abilities to build self-esteem and resilience.
• Offer support face to face or remotely, via phone or video call, depending on the needs of the survivor and current guidance around social distancing.
• Attend regular supervision and appraisals with line-manager.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies and refer on appropriately, dependant on need and risk. This may include referral to specialist agencies, to other specialist DVA services or other external processes (for example MARAC).
• Assess risk to individuals on a regular basis using the DASH risk indicator checklist.
• Work with survivors to develop tailored support plans with a focus on reducing the risk of harm, increasing their personal safety (and that of any children) and responding to their individual needs.
• Support survivors to be able to identify and manage the risks to themselves and their children
• Provide information to survivors in relation to their options, including guidance in relation to their housing, legal and welfare rights and advocate on their behalf as required.
• Encourage service users’ participation in service development, continuous improvement and feedback exercised.
• Represent the Rising Sun at relevant community meetings and forums.
• Support Rising Sun’s community services including our One Stop Shop drop in service and group programmes.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure, reports and evaluations are completed as required.
• Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building positive working-relationships with team members.
• Contribute to wider team meetings and discussions to share learning and feed into organisational developments.
• Be willing and available to work some evenings and weekends as required to support wider team activities such as representing Rising Sun at events (time off in lieu can be taken by arrangement with your line manager).

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Knowledge and Qualifications

• An accredited VAWG/domestic abuse qualification, e.g. IDVA / DAPA (Desirable).
• Good understanding of the impact of domestic violence and trauma on survivors, children and young people, families and communities. 
• Knowledge of issues affecting survivors, and an understanding of the barriers they may face in accessing support.
• Thorough knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation.
• Good understanding of the operation of the agencies working together to support survivors such as social services, police etc.

Experience

• Experience of working with survivors affected by domestic and sexual abuse.
• Experience of managing own case load, working under pressure and prioritising workload.
• Experience of risk assessment and management, and safety planning.
• Experience of multi-agency partnership work.
• Experience of facilitating group programmes. (Desirable)

Wandsworth WellFamily and Foodbank Service is an adult mental health service serving the Wandsworth community and based in foodbanks and GP surgeries across the London Borough of Wandsworth. We offer short term, holistic support focusing on the needs of the whole family whilst directly supporting the adult.

New funding has enabled us to create this post which will focus on increasing our capacity and inclusivity to provide emotional and practical support to the most vulnerable foodbank guests, who present with complex needs. You will lead a two-year project contributing to the work of the No Wrong Door partnership – local organisations and local residents working together to ensure there is ‘No Wrong Door’ for Black Disabled people seeking employment, as they can expect excellent support from any organisation.

Our developed and respected Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has been providing long-term counselling interventions to local residents since 1988. The service is self-funded and offers a range of therapies which aim to provide individuals with the support and opportunity to work through their difficulties in depth with a skilled and experienced trainee or fully qualified therapist. Sliding scale rates are offered to make sure that we are accessible to all. We also run a number of therapeutic, psychoeducational, support and peer-led one to one sessions and groups, training workshops and other activities.

We are looking for a skilled and qualified (or in advance training) counselling supervisor to provide clinical supervision, leadership, management and service development of our Psychotherapy and Counselling service. Knowledge and understanding of a number of modalities would be an asset.  Part of the role will be to help us achieve and maintain BACP or equivalent service accreditation and to grow the service.

About this exciting opportunity
The focus of this key role will be to manage the data team to support colleagues across one or more contracts awarded by the HMPPS to deliver Finance Benefit and Debt (FBD) in Wales. We will expect you to monitor and manage the receipt of referrals from Probation through the Customer Approved System (CAS) and the CAS itself to ensure all inputting is accurate and within agreed timescales, providing regular activity reports to the FBD Contract Manager.

We will also rely on you to be the primary point of contact for all enquiries, both external and internal, to ensure communication channels are clear and effective, while also liaising closely with external stakeholders, delivery partners, spot purchase providers and other agencies to arrange appointments, referrals, and generally ensure information exchanged is done in a clear, timely and effective manner.  Developing and maintaining processes for recording and monitoring resource allocation and positively representing the St Giles Wise partnership in all external meetings, including conferences, seminars, and other events are also vital elements of this role.

• Experience of working in services which provide support to people who have faced adversity and disadvantage
• A sound understanding of the barriers faced by people with complex and multiple needs 
• Understanding of Trauma Informed practice and how to apply it in supporting service users

We are excited to be advertising the role of Psychotherapy Service Manager at Respond, to lead our team and the development of our psychotherapy services with autistic people and people with learning disabilities who have experienced trauma and their families.  Many of our clients may have experienced complex or multiple traumatic experiences including sexual violence, domestic abuse and neglect.

The Psychotherapy Service provides predominantly longer-term therapeutic support of a year or more, depending on how the work is funded, to an average of 130 unique individuals per year.  The current team of 10 are made up of 4 senior therapists (reporting to the postholder), 4 therapists and 2 honoraries in training, the majority of whom are Arts therapists and work within a psychodynamic and/or systemic model.

We welcome applications from experienced Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapists, Arts therapists, Psychologists or Family Therapists who are passionate about our work. You will work psychodynamically, champion our trauma informed approach including our reflective practice model and have the opportunity to influence and shape the development of the psychotherapy service.  Leading the small team, you will provide clinical leadership and be Safeguarding lead, ensuring we continue to provide high quality psychotherapy services.  We are offering the role at 4-5 days per week, working in a hybrid manner flexibly. You can also hold your own small case load of clients, supervisees and/or consultancy work within the role.

This is a unique and specialist role and we recognise that you may have more experience in one clinical area or client group than another, given the breadth of our work and whilst you may be experienced in working psychodynamically as a therapist and as a line manager, you may be newer to leading a service for example. Or you may have a great deal of other experience and understanding of the needs of our clients from other work.  We are flexible to develop the right candidate who is passionate about improving the lives of autistic people, people with learning disabilities and their family members.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Service Manager to support women and children who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. In this role you will provide line management and support to staff who work with and help women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and are staying in our Lambeth refuges. Our Lambeth refuges are culturally specific services for women and children of African and Caribbean heritage. Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person-centred basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need, and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

Waking Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of this support service at night and for keeping service-users and the building safe. More specifically, you will:

Understand the concept of recovery and apply those principles to develop an environment and service that enhances recovery.
Put the customer at the centre of their support and promote optimism and hope for their increased independence
Provide intensive support (both practical and emotional) to customers as required

Shifts will be on a rota pattern and are from 22:00 to 08:00. Includes weekends and bank holidays.

We provide support for 16 customers, we have two sites Hope House (10 bed supported housing) Doddsfield Rd (6 flats independent living with floating support).
Hope House - Support hours 24 hours 7 days per week, with sleep- in based on a shift rota pattern - (sleep-ins staff are paid additional to salary advertised).
Doddsfield Rd - Floating support (during working hours)
Team - 1X Contract Manager, 1X Team Leader, 3.2 Support Workers.
Current Vacancy - 1x FTE/1 x FTC Support Worker role who will be allocated to work with customers at both sites.
Staff work closely with Slough Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) we also have a designated Occupational Therapist working along side supporting staff. Customers also attend Hope College which is facilitated via Slough Mental Health Team as part of their recovery process needed in preparation into independent living.
This is a great opportunity for any support worker to gain exceptional experience within the mental health field, based on the solid working relationship with (SCMHT) We have since implemented training directly from SCMHT to support staff with understanding Mental Health diagnosis and Managing Crisis with our customers in-house.
