About the role
Volunteering as a Hearing Aid Maintenance (HAM) Volunteer - Crowborough offers an enjoyable opportunity to socialise and make new connections, all whilst contributing to the Charity's vital services within the Crowborough community.
You'll be involved in offering warm and helpful hearing aid maintenance services, along with sharing information and advice on hearing loss.
What you will be doing
• Meet and greet members of the public who visit HAM sessions
• Keep written records of help given
• Check and clean hearing aids
• Replace hearing aid tubing
• Check hearing aid batteries and issue replacement batteries
• Provide basic guidance on use and care of hearing aids

Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind is a registered charity providing advice and support to adults with mental health problems in Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale and the Esk Valley since 1962. Our support is designed to help people: Become healthier, lead full independent and rewarding lives, become more involved, included and active in community life and to reach their own potential.
Volunteer Befrienders are a cornerstone of our support, offering social connection and a listening ear to people experiencing or at risk of experiencing mental ill health through becoming isolated from support networks and the community. You will provide a lifeline, meeting someone at home or local community to chat and attend activities or social opportunities, helping your befriendee to rebuild their confidence and self esteem. This could be anything as simple as coffee, cake and chat in a local cafe up to organised activities such as a walking group, craft group or attending the theatre. Once the relationship and trust is established, your role is to help that person begin connecting with others and building friendships naturally. This means that when you step away, they have connections in place to keep maintaining quality of life. Befriending matches can meet during the day, evening or weekend so the oppotunity is open to anyone regardless of working patterns and most matches meet either once a week or once a fortnight for 1-2 hours at a time. We have huge numbers of people needing support and are desperate for new volunteers if you would consider joining us. We cover your expenses, provide training and you have a dedicated co-ordinator to keeps in touch to make sure all is going well. We currently have 2 roles for befrienders- supporting age 18+ in Scarborough who are isolated/lonely (not necessarily experiencing mental illness) and then older people (65+) in Scarborough, Whitby and Hunmanby who are living with long term anxiety or depression and are experiencing isolation/loneliness.
SWR Mind cover a geographical area of more than 1,000 square miles with a population of over 170,000 and are the oldest mental health charity providing community outreach services across the region and one of the few who still do one to one work in people's homes and local community. We run a number of services open to people aged 11 and over living in Scarborough Whitby, Ryedale and the Esk Valley who would like help with their mental health. All our services are provided free of charge at point of need and provided in the community and people’s homes, where it is most needed.
More than ever people are turning to us as they face problems such as unemployment, debt, housing or relationships which can all have a devastating impact on their mental health.
Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind has to raise our own money to support people in the local community and we do not receive money from national Mind or its charity shops, whom we are only affiliated to in name.
We want to ensure nobody ever has to battle with mental illness alone.

Are you an excellent listener? Could you visit care homes to help people talk about their end of life wishes and personal goals?
Our Talk About service operates in East Dorset in partnership with the NHS and helps people to have the time and safe space to consider their end of life wishes and share them with those closest to them. Thinking about death is always a challenging ask but with this project we want to change the conversation and help people Talk About it to ensure more people have their version of a ‘good death’ where they want it to be, and with their wishes being met.
We are looking for empathetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team of Companion Volunteers to support the Talk About project.
The main element of this role will be supporting residents in care homes across East Dorset. You will spend your time discussing and recording their wishes and will need to be confident using IT to do this.
There will also be opportunities to support community events, network with local organisations and community groups and co-facilitate training, among other activities.

Community Driver
Community Driver Volunteers support the Actively Involved Team by driving people aged 55 and over or people under 55 with complex health needs, to various local locations.
Tasks: Community Driver Volunteers will drive our clients to nearby locations in West or North Kent using their own car. You could help with anything from shopping and social activities for clients with limited mobility. You are invited to join in on the social activities, although this is optional. Being able to get from A to B can be challenging for some of our clients who have health conditions or restricted mobility. As a Community Driver Volunteer, you will help support our mission to help clients live independently, and improve health and wellbeing. This role is really for those who enjoy driving, and are friendly, welcoming and supportive.
Date and time: This is flexible, we share a schedule of trips and you can select the ones you would like to do.
Place: Various – based around West and North Kent.
Transport: Own transport is essential. We will cover all travel expenses in your volunteering role.
Skills required:

Sense Virtual Buddying volunteers make a real difference to supporting young people and adults who may be lonely or isolated.
Sense matches volunteers with disabled people to meet for an hour a week on Zoom, over phone, by email, text or letter writing. Our volunteers have spent thousands of hours with their buddies — learning new skills, having fun, and forming fantastic friendships. Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests, to make sure you have a great time. You and your buddy choose a time that suits you, and you can decide what activities you’d like to do together.
The Role of a Virtual Buddy
Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests to ensure you’ll have lots of fun together. Once matched with a buddy, you will get to know each other remotely via video calls, phone calls, texting, emails or through letters.
You’ll arrange weekly sessions and plan fun things to do together – what this looks like will be inspired by your mutual interests. You could be gaming, doing arts and crafts, playing music, seed planting – there are so many possibilities! We will provide you with weekly themed activities to help to support you in planning your interactions with your buddy.
We’ll also keep in touch with you to ensure you have all the support you need.
The programme is open to all volunteers who are 16 and over. You don't need to have previous experience volunteering or caring for disabled people. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.

As a Trustee, you can help shape our mission to change the museum and heritage sector to make it better for all children, young people and families, particularly those who currently have the least access. You’ll be joining a dedicated Board that brings a wide range of skills and experiences to the charity and have the chance to become involved with exciting Kids in Museums programmes such as the Family Friendly Museum Award and Takeover Day.

Role Summary
We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees who will offer strategic and supportive leadership to our highly effective, collaborative and committed Board. Chair role & responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the CEO, staff and volunteers to achieve our mission and optimise the relationship between the Board and Glass Doors's staff and volunteers.
Provide leadership within the Board, ensuring that it fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation and promoting governance among fellow Trustees, providing clarity around boundaries between governance, management and operations.
Plan and chair the bi-monthly board meetings and the AGM, with colleagues as appropriate and liaise with the CEO, Company Secretary and Governance Trustee with regard to setting up meetings, agenda items and annual report content.
Facilitate meetings ensuring all have equal involvement in discussions, clarifying any uncertainties, confirming decisions made and actions to be taken and ensuring effective time management of meetings whilst providing appropriate periods of discussion and reflection.
Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Glass Door when required.
Support Glass Door functions and events eg attendance at supporter events.
Support the Head of Fundraising & Major Donors with the cultivation of high-level donors, occassionally attending meetings where value can be added.
Represent the Board at staff Town Hall meetings.
Support the team liaising with partner churches and statutory authorities as required and be the public face of Glass Door in the local community.
Liaise with the CEO and he Board to keep an overview of the charity's affairs.
Provide supervision and support to the CEO as necessary in addition to planned monthly/bi-monthly 'catch up' meetings and, with the People Trustee, lead the CEO's annual performance review.
To act as final stage adjudicator for disciplinary and grievance procedures if required.
What we are looking for
Experience of being a Trustee, ideally in the third sector, and an understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a Trustee/Director.
A keen sense of strategic purpose.

We are looking for a volunteer to find published materials related to Quilombo’s key objectives, especially cultural and racial diversity, and stereotypes in UK communities. The materials include all types of evidence, articles, journals, newspaper columns, local and global news stories.

The researcher will help to collect information that can be used as an evidence base to help inform future activities, and also in exhibitions, workshops, and community events.

We are looking for a self-starter who can source, collect, and share relevant materials independently. You will also be working closely with our volunteers in relevant areas such as Marketing and PR.

Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

About REMIX:

Our evidence-based programmes will focus on developing essential life skills, promoting healthy living and providing personal development opportnities. Volunteer Role:
We need your help as a volunteer to offer support to us as our Administrator who can support our Founder and CEO with the charity's administrative duties at REMIX, including setting up our admin systems and processes. You will play a very vital and pivotal role at REMIX.
Key Responsibilities:
- To create a framework for the charity’s administration. Establish policies and procedures that align with the charity's objectives.
- To ensure the efficient running of all activities, including quality assurance, health and safety, strategy, governance, financial management, and human resources management.
- To act as the first point of contact for external organisations, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Maintain compliance with regulations and present a positive image of the charity.
- To input and maintain financial records and charity databases.
- To process gift-aid claims and maintain accurate contribution records for donors.
- To maintain an accurate compliance schedule to aid account audits. Ensure timely returns and filings to relevant statutory bodies (e.g. HMRC and the Charity Commission).
- To oversee all legal documents related to the charity, including equipment acquisitions, maintenance, insurance policies, and claims reporting.
- To co-ordinate day-to-day office-related activities.
- To organise and maintain paper and electronic filing systems.
- To book meetings and events and provide logistics for them.
- To manage public inquiries and correspondence.
- Other administrative duties required to support REMIX.
