We are looking for an Interim External Affairs Manager to help lead our communications activities from 24 June 2024 to 31 December, while our permanent External Affairs Manager is on sabbatical. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team, as we seek to maximise our impact ahead of the next general election and develop our strategy for the next few years.
The successful candidate will help to manage the day to day work of the External Affairs team, including supporting colleagues to enhance our reach on social media and digital channels, deliver our events programme and deepen our impact with key audiences.

This is a diverse role and will include:
Communications and events

Working with Head of External Affairs and Income (EA&I) to manage the External Affairs’ team’s day-to-day work, including supporting the team with social media, website and press relations

Assisting with the charity’s other activities as required.

The Role
In April 2021 the Domestic Abuse Act received Royal Assent. The Act introduces a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Notice (DAPN) to provide immediate protection following a domestic abuse incident, and a new civil Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO) to provide flexible, longer-term protection for victims. DAPOs can impose both prohibitions and positive requirements on perpetrators. We were commissioned by the Home Office to design a triage model that will assess individuals for the suitability of these interventions; this triage model will be rolled out in the pilot sites which are going live in May 2024 and will be tested and evaluated in order to prepare for national roll out in 2026.The Programme Manager will oversee the roll out and delivery of the DAPO pilot Triage Model.

Job objectives

Support the trustees in the due diligence and evaluation of each applicant and facilitate the decision-making process for each application

Support the ongoing evaluation process of all successful applicants and ensure agreed measures and outcomes are reported back to the Foundation in a timely manner

Duties and responsibilities will include

Write regular reports to the trustees of new applications, applications in progress and outcomes, inform and advise the trustees to achieve a swift decision on all cases

Organise the publicity and communications around each successful grant, including newsfeeds, social media and website updates.

Liase with the Access Marketing team to support their own comms

Ensure financial accounts are accurate and complete

Liase with 3rd parties such as external suppliers and partners ranging from auditors to our financial partners

About You
You will have demonstrable communications experience in the research, health or charity sector, with experience of communicating with a variety of audiences through different methods. You will also develop excellent working relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders at the hospital, UCL Institute of Child Health and across the Charity.
Specifically, you will have:
- A degree in a relevant scientific or health-related discipline or equivalent experience, and a passion for child health and research
- Communication experience, in the health or charity sector.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, understanding complex scientific or clinical concepts and translating these into inspiring information and presentations.

Reporting into the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, this role will join our Marketing and Communications directorate, an innovative team of people who are committed to raising the profile of WithYou, our clients and our colleagues. In this role you will lead WithYou’s internal communications and engagement strategy so our people understand and can contribute to our strategy and direction.
You will work to improve communications, engagement and channel delivery across WithYou, leading the journey to a new interactive platform, using a new internal content strategy to inform it. In addition, you will forge strong relationships to coach, influence and provide clear direction and leadership on all internal communications activity, helping to develop and embed a new organisational strategy and other initiatives, with staff insight at the core.
This is a remote role based from home with travel across England and Scotland required, including overnight stays. This is a full time, fixed term maternity cover position until August 2025. The salary for this role is £56,000 - £68,675 per annum.

REQUIRED SKILLS

It is essential that you have experience of adapting central messaging for specific audiences, a proven ability to deliver an annual programme of staff events, along with managing effective and accessible channels that encourage an inclusive and supportive culture. The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Senior Communications Officer to join their Strategic Partnerships and Communications team in London. This role is key to Alzheimer’s Society’s ambitions to drive major, and positive, change at a national level particularly across Wales at an exciting time in dementia policy.
The National Influencing Manager will play a central role in ensuring what the Society thinks about the big issues affecting people affected by dementia is acted upon by national decision makers. They will be responsible for delivering national influencing activity primarily in one nation, as well as overseeing officers’ work, but be part of a fluid and flexible team operating across boundaries too.

Internal Communications Officer
Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2 days in the office, and 3 days remote.
About the Role
We are looking to appoint an Internal Communications Officer who will play a critical role in developing and shaping the organisation’s internal communications for the staff of the Connexional Team.
The post holder will work closely with Senior Managers to ensure that the Team’s values, mission and updates are effectively communicated to all Team members working across several sites and from home, to foster a cohesive and motivated work environment.
