Mental Health Service Manager Central Bristol

£48,000 per annum (rising to £49,440 from 1st April 2026) + excellent benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Milestones Trust Mental Health Division as a Service Manager, overseeing the management of a cluster of four established services in central Bristol.

Cranbrook Road, Northumberland Road and Coronation Road are registered residential homes in Redland and Southville while Linden Rd is a supported living project in Westbury Park. Three of the four services are within ten minutes’ walk of each other.  There are a total of 16 registered and 4 unregistered beds across the cluster and the Service Manager has the support of 2 full-time Service Coordinators to ensure the day-to-day delivery of the service is effective and efficient. The services provide individualized recovery services for people with complex mental health needs, with the aim of enabling people to graduate to step-down accommodation when they are ready.

As a Service Manager you will be accountable for the safe, cost-effective and personalised running of the services in line with Milestone Trust’s values and organisational priorities. You will lead your teams to meet all compliance requirements and consistently meet and exceed service KPIs as you develop and implement your vision for the services.

As the Service Manager you will:

• Have extensive knowledge of working with people who have complex and enduring mental health needs
• Have extensive experience of managing risk in a Social Care setting
• Have previous experience of leading and developing teams
• Be able to work alongside your team to coach individuals and provide a positive and professional role model to all staff
• Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, people we support and a range of stake holders, family and friends
• Have effective time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure
• Be confident in delegating effectively to achieve timely outcomes
• Have experience of managing budgets and rotas effectively

The Active Recovery Project gives adult survivors of abuse the opportunity to take part in community-based activities. Members of Active Recovery can participate in a variety of group activities with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. The activities are based on ideas from our members and include water-based activities (such as rowing, canoeing, sailing and kayaking), surfing, trips to community spaces and creative sessions (such as arts and crafts). Activities take place every week. Each activity will last approximately 2.5 hours each. Members can attend the group sessions for up to 18 months. 

Job Purpose: 

We are looking for a warm and passionate leader to come and join the Active Recovery Service.

As an Active Recovery Lead, their job will be to develop and deliver the Active Recovery Project in Bristol and in Somerset. Using a trauma-informed approach, the Active Recovery Lead will create and provide a safe and supportive space for clients from The Sexual Violence Alliance organisations (The Southmead Project, SARSAS, Womankind and the Bridge Sarc) to participate in a variety of group activities, with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation. 

Principal Tasks:

1. Run two Active Recovery groups a week, with , with the help of the Practitioner.

2. Provide initial trauma-informed assessment phone calls and/or meetings with potential members as part of the registration process for Active Recovery. This includes assessing need, risk and suitability for the service using a trauma-informed approach. 

3. Create safety plans and tailor activity sessions where appropriate after building relationships with members following the initial phone calls.

4. Plan trauma-informed sessions for members, including producing risk assessments for each activity, visiting activity locations and delivering relevant trauma training to activity providers. 

5. Oversee and lead on setting up, delivering and debriefing about activity sessions with members, volunteers and staff. Ensuring members are clear on each session's ground rules and safeguarding processes, using the Member’s Agreement.

6. Provide trauma-informed face-to-face support to members at sessions who may become overwhelmed or require help dealing with flashbacks and dissociation.

7. To support volunteers and staff with safeguarding queries and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed. To be the safeguarding lead at activity sessions, escalating any onward safeguarding referrals and queries to the Southmead Project Designated Safeguarding Lead.

8. Participate in and support the recruitment and induction training of volunteers.

9. Support and line manage a team of volunteers.

10. Develop and maintain an Active Recovery community through email, phone calls, texts and in person.

11. Develop and drive forward the project’s aim to have the members’ voices at the heart of the project.

12. Collaborate with developing outcome processes in line with the Southmead Project and its funders’ requirements.

13. Analyse data and feedback collected through outcomes processes to adapt and constantly improve the planning and delivery of the project sessions.

14. Contribute content for reports as required. 

15. Build and maintain positive relationships with partnership organisations for the project.

16. Manage the day to day budget for the project sessions, keeping accurate records to report to the Head of Active Recovery and planning how the budget will be spent across sessions, within guidelines provided by the Head of Active Recovery.

17. Record data accurately and in a timely manner on Oasis.

18. Produce social media and website posts about the project, including producing and editing videos.

19. Attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings with the Head of Active Recovery. 

20. To attend monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with a Supervisor who is approved by the Southmead Project. Supervision is a requirement of this charity as an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. 

21. To work within the framework, spirit and ethos of the Southmead Project’s Equal Opportunities Policy, and actively engage in promoting the policy within the charity and in all dealings with clients and other agencies.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

• Full drivers licence and access to own transport.

• Professional qualification, such as a Diploma or degree in Counselling or in other relevant fields of work, such as; social work, psychology, mental health, education, support work or similar: or extensive experience in any of these fields.

• A sound understanding of the issues affecting members who have experienced trauma and abuse.

• Experience in managing projects. 

• Excellent administration and organisational skills, including experience of managing sensitive personal information.

• Experience of and confidence in using multiple computer and case management systems. 

• At least 2 years’ experience of delivering groups in the community, preferably activity based.

• At least 1 year’s experience of providing face-to-face support for survivors of abuse. 

• The ability to arrange group activities and liaise with other local organisations to help plan them. 

• The ability to plan sessions in detail to ensure that they are trauma-informed and having the experience and confidence to ‘hold’ groups when things do not go to plan.

• The ability to work flexibly within a team and support those within it. 

• Experience in managing volunteers. 

• Knowledge and awareness of how particular activities and social situations could improve people’s self-esteem, self-confidence, build friendships and reduce their isolation.

Barnardo's is commissioned by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to provide an Independent Children's Rights and Advocacy (ICRAS) Service to children accommodated in a secure setting. The ICRAS service is child led and independent of the secure estate; our service is delivered within Oakhill STC to ensure children can freely access support for a range of issues linked to their needs, rights & experiences of custody, resettlement, and safeguarding.  As such this is a child-facing service, and at times involves lone working in the establishments, so we are seeking someone who can see the child, not the offence.

We can speak on behalf of children to ensure their voice is heard and we also have the opportunity to help them to find the tools and confidence to raise their voices for themselves.  Advocacy and Children's Rights support is particularly crucial in the secure estate because children are away from home, family and champions, and also because children in secure estate are some of the most vulnerable children in society; they have often faced considerable adversity, disadvantage and discrimination prior to arriving into custody and they might not, therefore, be equipped with the skills needed to articulate their concerns. Through the work you do with a child such as  simply helping them make contact with friends or family on the outside, to helping them with concerns they may have in relation todiscrimination, resettlement or safeguarding issues, you  may be the one person telling them that  they matter for the very first time.”

The position (Children's Rights and Advocacy Worker – Project Worker 2) is line managed by a Team Manager, reporting to an off-site manager. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, working to the requirements of the contract and the regime of the STC. The secure estate is a highly structured environment; as a Barnardo's service we deliver independent advocacy and support for a range of issues, whilst still having to follow and adhere to this structure.

This role includes lone working in this challenging secure environment. It is, therefore, critical that the successful candidate can follow guidance and policy and is able to take proactive and individual responsibility to understand and access the service support mechanisms.  This role requires the worker to be onsite for their contracted hours, working remotely only for occasional training or meetings. The advocacy team work on a rota system with set hours each week, which includes weekends and bank holidays. Applicants should also be aware, that due to the nature of working within secure estate, the vetting and induction process can take several months to complete.

NHS Charities Together Fundraising Strategy

• Oversee the shaping of and support the Stewardship Manager on the delivery of a simplified, effective individual giving programme aligned with NHS Charities Together’s strategic priorities, with a focus on the retention and upgrade of existing donors and avoiding competing with our members.
• Ensure individual donors are regularly engaged and asked for appropriate cash gifts through a light-touch programme.
• Ensure that legacy messaging is prominent in the donor engagement cycle, to inspire existing donors to consider long-term support, aligned with their gratitude to the NHS, with appropriate pathways offered.
• Oversee prompt, accurate, and heartfelt thanking processes for all donations.
• Manage the welcome journey for unsolicited donations, and oversee the cost-effective management of existing commitments for community or events-based activity to ensure a return
• Lead stewardship for donors giving up to £25,000.
• Oversee and support the Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager to manage the relationships with selected key corporate relationships, identifying opportunities for partnerships and liaising closely with NHS Charities Together colleagues to support the development of fundable propositions which benefit our sector and our own organisation.

 
Sector Fundraising Support

• Champion sector-wide change by equipping member charities with scalable, plug-and-play fundraising products and strategic guidance that enhances their income generation capacity through individual giving, working closely with the engagement team.
• Oversee the development of support the Products Manager on the rollout of replicable or white-label fundraising products, starting with the roll-out of a lottery and legacy product, and on the development of campaigns (e.g. focused on grateful patients).
• Oversee and drive the thinking on future fundraising products that will appeal to and benefit our diverse group of member charities.
• Work closely with the engagement team and other NHS Charites together staff to tailor activity in line with segmentation and engagement strategies.
• Build trusted relationships with member charities, positioning yourself as a knowledgeable and empathetic fundraising expert.
• Contribute to supporting NHS Charities to raise their income, providing advice and guidance 1:1 and through supporting the delivery of member events. Where required support the delivery of paid for consulting support to NHS charities on fundraising.

This role will increase awareness and understanding of the criminal justice voluntary sector operating within across the Midlands area. The post holder will undertake an initial analysis project to identify place-based voluntary sector organisations and the range of, and types of services and support provided to people in contact with the criminal justice system and their families. They will identify place-based needs and lead on the collation and sharing of information across the Clinks team and with stakeholders, to highlight the challenges and opportunities. The post holder will need to build new, and nurture existing relationships, with key partners and a range of agencies across sectors.

The post will work within the Area Engagement & Partnerships Directorate and with other Clinks’ staff to identify new members and engagement opportunities, deliver events and training, and provide opportunities to support the capacity and capability needs of the voluntary sector, with a focus on place-based small and specialist organisations working in the CJS.

• Understand the work of local and regional voluntary sector infrastructure organisations in a geographical area to identify and increase partnership working and collaborative approaches to strengthen the support offered by Clinks, 
• Gather intelligence from the sector to identify and understand the needs of place-based organisations and share feedback with HMPPS and other key stakeholders to develop operational processes and influence future commissioning opportunities.

Safe Passage International (SPI) is recruiting a Digital Mobilisation Manager (Campaigns and Communications) part of both the Campaigns & Communications team and Fundraising team to support and to enable continuing and sustainable growth in our ground-breaking work to ensure that safe routes to sanctuary exist for all people seeking asylum. The Digital Mobilisation Manager will lead Safe Passage’s digital programme, sitting within both our Fundraising and Campaigns teams. They will mobilise supporters through timely actions; manage, develop and grow our digital channels strategically; and be at the centre of meeting our fundraising and campaign goals. They will lead on the development of our digital strategy with oversight from the leadership team, implementing it through expert, hands-on content creation.  

This post is an exciting role, responsible for mobilising campaign actions and helping raise the money needed for Safe Passage to do its important work. You will bring a passion for digital developments and action, motivated to advance refugee rights and support the campaigns and fundraising team with team objectives.  The successful candidate will be proactively progressing digital opportunities and innovations. This is a crucial role for Safe Passage International and an opportunity for the successful candidate to help develop the organisation, mobilising supporter actions to support campaigns and fundraising goals. 

You will work as part of a collaborative Campaigns and Communications Team, Fundraising Team and closely with colleagues across Safe Passage International, including teams in the UK, Greece, and France.

We are looking for good transferrable leadership and organisational skills, as detailed in the

Person Specification. Experience in a similar role would be welcome, but this could also be your first paid position in the NGO sector, or you could be returning to work after time out. A full induction will be provided, alongside a dedicated training budget to support you to grow and develop within your role.

Role Profile  

JOB TITLE: Children and Young Person’s Worker

SALARY: £28-30k

RESPONSIBLE TO: Accommodation service manager

 OVERALL OBJECTIVES

· Develop, deliver and implement a service for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse living in refuge accommodation.

· To work in partnership with mothers/carers to identify children and young people’s support needs and to ensure those needs are met.

· To work with respect and response to the cultural needs of children and families of ethnic minority backgrounds.

· Provide direct support to a caseload of children and young people experiencing or affected by domestic abuse, working with them to assess risk and support them with safety planning and recovery from abuse.

· Work closely with other PDAP C&YP workers to develop resources/ activities and therapeutic interventions for children and young people who have experienced DA. 

· Develop and implement clear pathways for this service with mothers/carers and our partners, schools and social care services and with our existing service users ensuring accessible routes to support for those that need it.

· Work with children and young people to support them to shape the service to best meet their needs.

· Provide one to one and group work practical and emotional support to children and young people who have/are experiencing domestic abuse ensuring all support is delivered safely.

· To advocate for children and young people with any other agencies who may be involved in their care such as schools, CSC, health etc.

· To complete verbal feedback and written reports to social care when required

· To implement and maintain standards of excellence throughout service delivery ensuring all client records are recorded in line with PDAP policies and procedures.

· To complete accurate daily and weekly online diary for internal calendar and employee accountability.

· To follow lone working safety policies and procedures

· To comply with confidentiality and Data Protection policies and procedures

· To educate and inform the public and other professionals by raising awareness of domestic abuse and ensuring client safety is central in multi-agency partnerships.

· To ensure the safeguarding of children and young people affected by domestic abuse accessing the service, liaising with and making referrals to CSC where appropriate.

· To participate in PDAP out of hours on call rota

Project Management and Service Delivery

· Always ensure quality standards, policies and procedures, and guidelines are fully adhered too, practiced and delivered throughout this service.

· Ensure that all service users are treated in a consistent, fair and empowering manner and to promote user participation in the development of the service.

· Ensure that the C&YP service is monitored and evaluated regularly with service users, partners, volunteers and PDAP staff. To identify areas of improvement and gaps in service delivery, develop and implement improvement plans.

· Develop the service, identify gaps in accessibility and put measures in place to ensure the programme is accessible to all, regardless of ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and all other protected characteristics.

· To liaise with other PDAP teams, and relevant external agencies to contribute fully to a multi-agency, joint approach way of working.
