We’re looking for two Place Leads to help drive our work in Stoke-on-Trent and East Staffordshire. Each role will be rooted in its local area, but both will work across the whole county, helping us build more connected, inclusive systems that support people to be active in ways that matter to them.

This work is part of a wider investment from Sport England, focused on changing how systems support people to be active. That means shaping how physical activity is understood, prioritised, and embedded, not just in programmes, but in policies, partnerships, and everyday decisions. That includes health, local government, community development, and beyond.

You’ll work with partners, communities, and decision-makers to make sense of what’s already happening, spot where things are stuck, and help shift both the culture and the practice. The work will be messy, layered, and relational. Some days will be about strategy. Others will be about trust.

You’ll be part of a small, committed team working across policy, systems, community insight and practice. And you’ll be trusted to bring your own judgement, experience, and clarity to the role.

What does this mean day to day?

• You’ll spend time listening to what’s emerging in communities, building trust with partners, and making sense of how insight, decisions, and action travel across the system.
• You’ll support our governance groups, coordinating agendas, shaping recommendations, and helping hold people gently but clearly to account for the things they’ve committed to.
• You’ll track where energy is building, where its leaking, and where attention needs to shift. That means spotting patterns, asking difficult questions, and making sure conversations lead to decisions, and decisions lead to change.
• You’ll need to hold contradictions without forcing resolution: where different truths exist at once, where progress creates new tensions, and where outcomes are unclear. Critical thinking is key; this role is as much about reflection and challenge as it is about delivery.
• Some days you’ll be co-designing a development session. Other days, you’ll be reflecting on what’s working, what’s drifting, and how we bring things back into focus. You’ll be supported by a small team who care about doing this work well, with clarity, kindness, and a shared sense of purpose.

Key responsibilities:

This is an exciting new role to head up DanceSyndrome’s Community work across Lancashire developing, nurturing, growing, and managing our community workshops. At the heart of our organisation are our weekly bespoke Community Inclusive Dance Workshops; ‘Everybody Dance’. About the role

You’ll be responsible for building and establishing a new PMO function within the charity, leading a team that is responsible for efficient and effective project delivery, accurate and timely performance measurement, and informed reporting that enables data driven decision making.

The Senior Finance Manager will be a member of the SMT. This role will lead or contribute to the implementation of new financial systems, tools, or procedures that improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency.

You will work with colleagues across the country as we continue to develop and grow the organisation. Contribute to areas of the organisation that are ‘outside’ your immediate focus acting as trusted counsel to those in roles or teams that are different to yours. Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the timely and accurate production of all management and annual accounts and all forecasts in accordance with best practise and statutory requirements.
• A key business partner who provides value added business support and financial insight to the SMT and colleagues throughout the Charity.
• Provides financial insight to development team to assist with fundraising bids, prepare donor budgets, and ensure donor reporting and compliance throughout the grant life cycle.
• Responsible for delivery of all statutory and regulatory compliance, including statutory accounts, certification officer returns, Charities Commission, VAT and all payroll taxes.
• Responsible for fortnightly payment runs processing. Supervise and assist with the sale invoices processing and regular credit control. Monthly reconciliation of all Money Ready’s bank accounts.
• Responsible for monthly payroll including monthly and annual RTI reporting to HMRC, pensions payments, annual payroll processing and relevant reconciliations.
• Work with auditors on preparing the audit strategy and manage annual audit process, providing all the relevant paperwork during the audit process.
• Be a positive change champion for the organisation, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programmes and strategies in both finance and across the Union as a whole.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations and reporting. Line management, objective setting and performance reviews for direct report.
• Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment that is fit for purpose but uses a risk-based approach to the establishment of processes and procedures.

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end accounts.
• Substantial experience in processing monthly payroll using QuickBooks Payroll and Sage Payroll.
• Line management experience, including objectives setting and performance reviews.
• Experience in charity accounting principles, especially with regards to grants and restricted funds.
• Demonstrable experience of business partnering with multiple, non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience of establishing financial systems including business plans and budgets.

Skills and abilities

• Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA). Finalists to be considered.

• Achieve income targets that support the delivery of fundraising goals aimed at delivering in excess of £3m+ per annum
• Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, email, and social media, to maximize giving. Keep track of results and flag under or over performance in a timely manner

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the CEO, we are looking for an experienced charity finance person, with accountancy qualifications.  (CIMA,CIPFA, CCAB, ACCA, AAT etc)

This a pivotal role and the post holder will be a member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the Trust’s finances, working closely with CEO and Board.

The role would suit someone who is motivated by the Trust’s purpose and who is good at building relationships. 

We are a home working charity which is committed to flexible working.  We are open to considering a range of working patterns for this 0.6 FTE role.

Main responsibilities

· Alongside external accountant, manage the maintenance of the financial accounting system and monthly accounting processes (BACS runs, Expenses, Accruals, Prepayments, Deferred Income, Payroll etc)

· Review management accounts and liaise with accountants over variances.

· Lead on annual budget process

· Maintain and report on regular forecasts throughout the year

· Monitor individual programme funding to ensure all spend is within budget

· Lead on annual audit and creation of statutory accounts by external accountants.

· Distinguish between Restricted and Unrestricted funding to ensure compliance is met and classification is correct

· Support and advise budget holders in matters relating to the financial management of their departments

· Provide financial input to assist with new funding bids and reports to existing funders and partners.

· Ensure appropriate systems and internal financial controls are implemented and maintained

· Responsible for some areas of governance including insurance, Companies House and Charity Commission registration

· Secretariat for the Finance and Audit Committee

· Attendance to SMT, Board and Finance and Audit Committee meetings, including production of relevant reports

· Responsible for certain policy reviews including; Finance, Expenses, Reserves

· Provide financial information and analysis to the Board, SMT and the wider staffing team as and when required

· Ensure that compliance with relevant financial legislative and regulatory requirements including the Charity SORP are met.

· Manage reporting to Companies House, the Charities Commission

· Support the overall mission of the charity and occasionally carry out other duties as required by the CEO
