We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Manager, who  will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation. Able to manage the day-to-day financial analysis and reporting requirements for Money Ready, and provide input for strategic financial planning. Using a business partnering model, ensure all budget holders are fully supported in their roles. Responsible for the delivery of all management accounts, budget, forecasts and donor reporting as well as the annual statutory accounts. Ensure all income and expenditure is accounted for in a timely and efficient manner. Helps deliver Money Ready’s strategic objectives, identifies the key financial risks and develops the internal controls environment.

The Senior Finance Manager will be a member of the SMT. This role will lead or contribute to the implementation of new financial systems, tools, or procedures that improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency.

Working across Money Ready

You will work with colleagues across the country as we continue to develop and grow the organisation. Contribute to areas of the organisation that are ‘outside’ your immediate focus acting as trusted counsel to those in roles or teams that are different to yours. Embed yourself into the organisation – recognising that our strategy and business plan are yours to deliver and that our culture is shaped with you and by you. Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the timely and accurate production of all management and annual accounts and all forecasts in accordance with best practise and statutory requirements.
• A key business partner who provides value added business support and financial insight to the SMT and colleagues throughout the Charity.
• Provides financial insight to development team to assist with fundraising bids, prepare donor budgets, and ensure donor reporting and compliance throughout the grant life cycle.
• Responsible for delivery of all statutory and regulatory compliance, including statutory accounts, certification officer returns, Charities Commission, VAT and all payroll taxes.
• Responsible for fortnightly payment runs processing. Supervise and assist with the sale invoices processing and regular credit control. Monthly reconciliation of all Money Ready’s bank accounts.
• Responsible for monthly payroll including monthly and annual RTI reporting to HMRC, pensions payments, annual payroll processing and relevant reconciliations.
• Work with auditors on preparing the audit strategy and manage annual audit process, providing all the relevant paperwork during the audit process.
• Be a positive change champion for the organisation, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programmes and strategies in both finance and across the Union as a whole.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations and reporting. Line management, objective setting and performance reviews for direct report.
• Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment that is fit for purpose but uses a risk-based approach to the establishment of processes and procedures.

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end accounts.
• Substantial experience in processing monthly payroll using QuickBooks Payroll and Sage Payroll.
• Line management experience, including objectives setting and performance reviews.
• Experience in charity accounting principles, especially with regards to grants and restricted funds.
• Demonstrable experience of business partnering with multiple, non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience of establishing financial systems including business plans and budgets.

Skills and abilities

• Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA). Finalists to be considered.

• Detailed knowledge SORP and VAT as applicable to charities.
• Ability to interpret financial data for strategic decision making.
• Experience of processing VAT returns including compliance with making Tax Digital and PAYE. 

Working Conditions: Limited travel will be required for attending meetings or events within the UK. Flexibility in working hours may occasionally be needed to meet the demands of the role.

Glasspool Charity Trust

Chief Executive Salary £75,000 + benefits

Glasspool is a UK-wide grant funder, established in 1939 with a permanent endowment from Richard Louveteau Glasspool, a Hertfordshire businessman and philanthropist. He experienced financial hardship as a young man, but when his income became more than enough to meet his personal needs, he started to provide financial support to individuals. The Conversation is an independent provider of news and views, sourced from the academic and research community and delivered directly to the public. Our team of professional editors work with university, and research institute experts to make their knowledge accessible to the public in an accessible manner.

The Conversation is funded by university members, grant and philanthropic sources and reader donations. It is a charity, and operates as a for-purpose, not-for-profit company. Its content is freely available and distributed beyond its website using a Creative Commons licence.

Access to high-quality, accurate and independent information underpins a functioning democracy. Our aim is to ensure better understanding of current affairs and complex issues by publishing explanatory journalism, analysis and reports of research findings produced by academics with recognised expertise. The Conversation aims to enrich public discussion and provide easy access to quality information, with knowledge that can be trusted and information that is useful.

Since our launch in 2013, The Conversation has grown to a staff of 40 and has recently launched a commercial subsidiary, Universal Impact. We are looking for a new Office Manager to manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the company. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee office operations and procedures for The Conversation, including some limited support for Universal Impact;

• Work with the Chief Executive and Editor to ensure a safe, collegiate and healthy office environment

• Maintain office policies and procedures, updating documentation as needed

• Manage day to day HR activities, scheduling appraisals, managing holiday, staff development

• Support HR functions such as onboarding/offboarding, maintaining employee records, and coordinating staff wellbeing initiatives

• Assist with recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, and coordinating candidate communications 

• Act as secretariat for The Conversation’s various boards, scheduling meetings, distributing papers, and taking accurate minutes

• Plan, schedule and coordinate internal events, team meetings, and staff away days

• Accepting and sorting mail and deliveries

• Supporting the planning of events and supporting office social activities (including team bonding)

• Support the Finance team

• Arrange travel and accommodation for staff as required

• Assisting in ad hoc administration tasks as needed

Requirements/Skills:

• Previous office management experience required

• Previous HR experience desirable 

• Previous experience working for a charity and Trustees desirable but not required

• Excellent organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities

• Enthusiastic and personable

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision

As the Finance Manager (UK), you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day finance function. You will oversee systems and procedures, ensuring high standards of financial management and service delivery. You will provide management and oversight of the UK Finance function at both an operational and managerial level, acting as the final point of contact for all UK finance matters for staff and budget holders.

This is a brand-new role with the exciting opportunity to help shape and grow Save the Rhino International’s fundraising from high-net-worth individuals, charitable family trusts and foundations, and corporate partners who share our passion for conservation. As Senior Philanthropy and Partnership Manager, you will lead on building and managing relationships with both new and existing supporters, helping to secure significant funding to support our long-term goals.

You’ll be responsible for the full supporter and partner journey, from identifying and approaching new prospects, to developing tailored proposals, making personal asks, and delivering excellent stewardship. You’ll bring a collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and a flair for building lasting partnerships based on shared values and trust.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with colleagues across fundraising and communications. It’s ideal for someone with a strong track record in philanthropy and partnership fundraising who’s ready to take the lead and make a real impact for rhinos in the wild.

• Strategic planning and direction
  • Review and refine the philanthropy and partnerships objectives and targets within our 2025–2030 organisational strategy, annual workplans and budgets, with the aim of increasing five- and six-figure donations
     
• Prospect identification and pipeline development
  • Identify new prospects across high-net-worth individuals, family trusts and foundations, and corporate trusts and foundations
  • Maintain and develop a robust pipeline of prospects and funders, using data insights and forecasting to inform planning and prioritisation

  • Proactively build and leverage networks, including through Save the Rhino’s Patrons and Ambassadors programmes, to unlock new opportunities

  • Ensure all supporter and partner activity is accurately recorded in the CRM and used effectively for relationship management
  • Manage administrative tasks, including creating invoices, preparing contracts and memorandums of understanding, and tracking income and expenditure against the budget
  • Uphold GDPR, data protection, and fundraising best practice across all philanthropy and corporate partnership activity, ensuring fundraising is ethical, inclusive and legally compliant

5. Person specification

Essential skills and experience

• Proven ability to design and implement fundraising strategies for high value donors, including developing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans
• Minimum 3 years’ fundraising experience with high net-worth individuals, family trusts and foundations and proven track record of securing and managing significant five and six figure donations
• Experience in developing stewardship and recognition strategies that deepen engagement and foster long-term support
• Knowledge of key sector regulations and guidance, including from the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, and Chartered Institute of Fundraising, with a strong understanding of GDPR and data protection
• Experience using CRM systems and fundraising databases, with an understanding of how to apply data mining and segmentation strategies to support donor engagement and income generation
• Experience of developing high-quality funding proposals and narrative and financial reports
• Very strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across geographies and cultures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex issues into compelling content that engages and inspires through storytelling
• Ability to work independently and accurately with attention to detail and meet deadlines as well as collaboratively as a part of cross-cutting teams across organisations
• Financial competence in budgeting, income and expenditure management

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience working within the conservation, wildlife, or environmental sector
• Experience managing partnerships, whether with corporates or other stakeholders, to deliver shared value and long-term impact
• Knowledge of international philanthropy trends and cross-border giving mechanisms
• Experience working with Donor-Advised Funds
• Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms commonly used in the nonprofit sector

Finance Manager

About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-driven Finance Manager to join ESSA’s international team and lead our UK financial operations. This vital role will support both UK and global finance functions, ensuring high-quality financial reporting, audit preparation, budgeting and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

· Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis

· Leading year-end and audit processes for ESSA’s UK operations

· Ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards and SORP

· Managing financial reporting for donor-funded projects, including the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL)

· Supporting budget development, forecasting and reforecasting

· Strengthening finance systems and controls, and developing financial capacity across the team

About You
We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) with:

· At least 5 years’ experience in a finance role in a UK-registered charity

· Strong knowledge of UK charity accounting regulations and SORP

· Experience managing audits and supporting cross-border operations

· Advanced Excel and financial systems skills (AccountsIQ or QuickBooks an advantage)

· Excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate financial information clearly

· The confidence to work independently in a remote, international team
