This is an exciting opportunity to join our service supporting Carers across City of London to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs. We are working with Carers from a range of cultures, and it would be an advantage to speak Bengali.

The team work holistically with Carers to understand their individual circumstances and level of need. You’ll carry out home visits and community-based meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Carers, families, and professionals. You will also support Carers to complete written forms and applications, draft letters, and advocate with third parties.

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Together with colleagues, you will plan and deliver the service’s activity package, including coffee mornings, drop-in sessions, activities, online and face to face groups, and peer support forums. There will also be opportunities to promote the service by attending meetings and forums, and to deliver training sessions to professionals and community organisations so that they have the skills to identify Carers.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector.

This is a full-time position, and you should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services.

The Role

BASIC is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead our finance function during a period of sustained growth. The Financial Controller will work across Programme teams ensuring strong financial management and reporting to funding partners, maintain strong financial controls, ensure compliance with charity finance regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting to our Directors and Board of Trustees.

The Financial Controller will oversee the small finance team, including line management of a Finance Assistant and management of an external bookkeeper consultant. This team will be responsible for the majority of financial accounting, processing payroll, and accurate bookkeeping, for which the Financial Controller will be ultimately accountable.

The role includes managing restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with funder requirements and programme needs, preparing statutory accounts for external audit, and overseeing payroll processing. This role reports directly to the Executive Director to prepare annual budgets and financial strategy, and works closely with the Board's Financial Development Committee to present its implementation.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting skills, experience in charity finance, and a proven track record of effective financial management of a growing organisation. You should be comfortable both managing a small team and working hands-on when needed, building collaborative relationships across the organisation. You will need to be a multitasker with the ability to work at pace, and be willing to develop the finance function and best practices to enable the organisation to grow further.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting and Reporting

• Oversee the maintenance of accurate financial records and bookkeeping in accordance with charity accounting standards (SORP)

• Prepare monthly management accounts including variance reporting and rolling forecasts

• Prepare annual statutory accounts and manage the annual independent audit process in its entirety

• Manage restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with funder requirements

Financial Operations

The role

We are excited to be recruiting for a Director of Finance and Resources to be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the financial management and HR functions within the Charity.  Working closely with the CEO as a member of the Executive team, the post holder will act as a strategic advisor to the Trustee board.

Key elements of the role will include:

• Leading the financial planning, cashflow management, budgeting and cost control for the charity. Working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure timely financial reporting is completed including monthly management accounts and forecasts.
• Responsibility for the production of the annual Financial Statements and Trustee Annual Report.
• Acting as an advisor and coach to senior staff to support and improve financial literacy and decision making whilst leading the annual budgeting and business cycle.
• Providing effective leadership, direction and training to the Finance and HR teams, ensuring that Finance and HR strategies align with the overall business strategy.
• Oversee HR operations, developing and implementing people strategies and ensuring compliance with employment law.

The candidate we are looking for will have proven experience in a senior level finance role, preferably within the voluntary sector.  They will also have experience of leading an HR team with a proven ability to drive strategic HR initiatives.

Candidates should have excellent planning, communication and organisation skills and be able to effectively balance a substantial workload ranging from day-to-day tasks to strategic thinking.

Charity People are proud to be partnering with The Elders, an independent group of global leaders working for peace, justice, human rights and a sustainable planet, to recruit a Head of Strategy and Planning.

Founded in 2007 by Nelson Mandela, The Elders operate through private diplomacy and public advocacy; they use their experience, influence and access to heads of state and government to engage politically, and their connections to civil society to stand in solidarity with the most vulnerable people and communities.

There are currently 11 active Elders from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. They work on existential threats to humanity that require a collective response: the climate crisis, pandemics, nuclear weapons, and conflict. Chaired since 2024 by Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Laureate, previous chairs were Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, and Mary Robinson. Supporting the Elders' work is a Secretariat of around 25 staff.

The Head of Strategy and Planning coordinates Secretariat support for implementing the current strategy and works with the Director of Programmes (Deputy CEO) to promote efficient cross-team collaboration. The role involves working closely with the Senior Management Team (CEO and three Directors) on operational planning and strategy elements not assigned to specific teams. Developing a new strategy from 2028 will be a major focus from 2027. The post-holder reports to the Director of Programmes, with a dotted line to the CEO for some functions.

Key responsibilities:
* Strategy & Governance: Monitor and report on progress of 2023-2027 strategy and Board decisions, assess external risks and ensure mitigation plans, lead impact assessment and mid-term strategy reviews, and contribute towards shaping future strategy reviews.
* Planning & Operations: Develop and manage annual operational plans and cross-organisational calendars, manage content of Board meeting agendas and decision-making processes, drive lesson-learning and Secretariat-wide initiatives, and work with the CEO on identifying possible new Elders and supporting their induction.
* Programme Support: Assist Director of Programmes with planning, impact reporting, and lesson learning across a team of 11.
* External Relations: Oversee stakeholder engagement and partnership commitments, and support CEO and Directors to build and maintain priority relationships.

The Head of Strategy and Planning will require the following to be successful in the role:
* 8-12 years' background in fields relevant to The Elders' work (e.g. diplomacy, international development, civil society advocacy etc), ideally including at least one of the Elders' programmes or cross-cutting commitments
* Experience working in (or at least on) more than one country (including ideally in the global South)
* Experience contributing to (and ideally coordinating) corporate strategy and operational/business planning in a complex international organisation
* Strong analytical skills, including working with data
* Excellent written English, including experience editing multi-author documents

The Elders operate a hybrid working policy. On average, you will be in the office a minimum of about two days a week, including for key meetings, including weekly team meetings and monthly all-staff in-days. Flexibility is required and you may at times need to be in the office at short notice. This role may involve limited international travel, the timing of which is usually decided by Elders' commitments. You may be required to attend staff or Elders events in the UK from time to time. We have seen significant growth in the number and usage of our helplines and now seek to recruit a second Helplines Operations Manager to ensure we have a management structure capable of coping with further growth.

As one of two Helplines Operations Managers, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of ISWAN’s helplines to ensure our services provide accurate information, appropriate advice, and comprehensive support to seafarers and their families.  

You will manage the development of Salesforce and be familiar with Salesforce reporting, particularly using advanced tools like Power BI and Tableau. You will be confident liaising with our IT support service on system issues and developments. 

We have no preconceptions about where the successful applicant will come from but you will bring experience of managing multi-channelled contact centre operations and best practice as well as delivering user and client service improvements.

You will need to be capable of working effectively within a complex international context and have sound experience of service development. This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) but we are keen to find the right person and therefore happy to discuss flexible working patterns. Kingston Bereavement Support (KBS) is the only bereavement service in Kingston Upon Thames. We are a registered provider to local GPs and an organisational member of the Childhood Bereavement Network. The Service Manager will provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of a  high-quality service for our clients. About the role

This is a newly created and high-impact role, perfect for someone who wants to build and drive a corporate fundraising programme with ambition. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will shape our corporate income strategy, identify exciting new business opportunities, and cultivate high-value, multi-year partnerships that accelerate our mission.

· Lead the development of World Child Cancer’s corporate fundraising portfolio, unearthing and securing new six- and seven-figure partners

· Attend key networking and industry events to build visibility and pipeline

About the role
The Researcher is a new, important post at Arthritis UK. Working within our Health Intelligence team, you will lead on providing expertise on the latest relevant research evidence, providing a responsive, robust and balanced assessment of the available evidence and any key gaps to shape the charity's UK advocacy agenda, and drive organisational priorities. Working across a range of issues you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the experiences and needs of people living with arthritis are understood and acted upon, and that arthritis is taken seriously across the UK.

About you
If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we'd love to hear from you:

• In-depth knowledge and experience in working in health-related, research.
• Experience in the synthesis and evaluation of research evidence across a range of sources (including grey literature), including in the design and delivery of rapid reviews.
• Experience in communicating clearly and succinctly to non-technical and non-expert audiences, through both written formats (e.g. briefing papers) and verbally (e.g. via presentations and meetings with senior stakeholders), with a robust approach to accessibility throughout communication.
• Demonstrable understanding of how research can be used to shape policy and practice.
• Experience of consistently applying a range of techniques and research methods applicable to framing research questions, evidence review and research evaluation.

Role

Working within the Individual Giving team, you’ll have a varied role managing and supporting the delivery of supporter-centric fundraising appeals which will recruit, retain and/or develop supporters across the cause-led, gaming, in memory and legacy programmes. These appeals will include utilising online and offline channels such as direct mail, organic and paid social advertising, email, private sites, SMS and telemarketing.

Your new role
They are looking for a Financial Analyst to join their team. This role is for a period of 6 months, but may extend. They offer hybrid working, 3 days in the office per week, 2 days from home. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Regular reviews of budget vs actual performance, identifying variances
- Prepare regular monthly financial reports and KPIs, conducting regular reviews with budget holders
- Monthly and quarterly prepayments, accruals and control account reconciliations

- Analyse forecasts and budgets to prepare commentaries on key variances and emerging trends
- Identify errors and omissions in submissions

- Assist with year-end audit preparation, providing necessary documentation
- Ensuring all year-end reconciliations and adjustments for relevant control accounts are completed accurately and in a timely manner

- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, maintaining strong financial controls
- Be proactive in seeking continuous improvement and implement relevant audit recommendations

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will need previous experience of management accounting and financial analysis. Strong Excel skills, including financial modelling are also key. If you were studying for a financial qualification, this would also be an advantage.
