Age UK is currently recruiting for an exciting fixed term position as External Affairs Support Officer on a 12 month fixed-term basis.

In this entry-level role, you'll support the delivery of our highly effective campaigns and public affairs activities which change the lives of older people. This is the perfect opportunity to start a career in campaigning or public affairs, offering you varied experience and exposure to public and parliamentary campaigning, as well as supporting our local Age UK partners to campaign locally.

As External Affairs Support Officer, you'll provide efficient administrative support to the External Affairs team, assist with logistical planning and event organisation, keep track of relevant parliamentary activity. You'll also work with individuals to tell their stories and influence political decision makers and prepare engaging communications relating to our campaigns and public affairs work for a range of audiences.

With an astute attention to detail, you'll be able to prioritise your workload, critically listen and confidently communicate both verbally and in written form; as well as having a sincere interest in politics and/or campaigning for change.

This is a hybrid opportunity, a blend of homebased and office working. Our linked office for this role is in London (near Tower Hill) and you would be expected to attend the office at least once a week for meetings and more often if needed to support events or campaign activity. Travel costs to the London office are not covered by the charity.

Additional Information

Requirement to attend team meetings in person at least once a week and to be available to support meetings and events in London when required. There is a requirement to travel and occasionally to stay overnight (e.g. running events in different parts of the country, party conferences or filming storytellers in different parts of the country); some out of hours working (e.g. occasional evening Parliamentary events).

BIAS’s housing advice service supports members of the local Irish community and beyond with a range of complex housing issues, including homelessness, rehousing, tenancy sustainment and disrepair. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic person who has a background or demonstrable interest in advice, housing or homelessness to join our friendly advice team. Your role will involve contributing to the day-to-day running of BIAS’s advice service, providing specialist advice on housing via one-to-one client appointments, completing casework and advocating for positive outcomes for your clients.

You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and clients, excellent organisational skills and the ability to digest complex briefs. You will be required to manage an active caseload, ensuring that cases are appropriately actioned and recorded and that deadlines are met.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

• Providing appropriate advice, information and practical help to clients, via in-person appointments, outreach visits, telephone, letter or email. Where necessary, advocating on behalf of clients in the appropriate forums.
• Ensuring that all casework records are kept up to date and completed clearly and effectively.
• Contributing to monitoring service delivery and recording client outcomes.

These are the basic duties required of the Housing Adviser. However, it is necessary for all staff to be flexible and you may be required from time to time to perform other reasonable duties which are required for the efficient running of the organisation. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. This role covers the full range of work in an accounting system dealing with input to and output from all ledgers with specific responsibility for the administration of parish shares and fees including the issuing of regular statements to parishes. The Chartered College of Teaching is currently working on a number of exciting projects, and is looking for an EdTech Evidence Lead who will play a key role in the success of these projects. By joining our team as EdTech Evidence Lead, you’ll be helping us to support educators and EdTech companies to strengthen their use of evidence and build understanding around the effectiveness of EdTech products in schools and colleges. 

The role will run until March 2026 in the first instance, with potential for extension.

The EdTech Evidence Lead will play a key role in delivering one of our key projects, focusing on EdTech Evidence. Drawing on their experience and knowledge of EdTech, they will support EdTech companies and educators to build understanding about gathering and evaluating evidence for different EdTech products. They will develop guidance and materials to facilitate this, and work with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to develop resources, systems and processes that aim to promote and recognise ‘high-quality’ evidence around EdTech. 

Main responsibilities include:

• Developing tools and resources to support individuals and organisations to engage with, and in, gathering and evaluating evidence around EdTech
• Developing guidance and training which helps EdTech companies plan and carry out evidence-gathering activities for their products and prepares them to submit evidence for formal review
• Contributing to the development and delivery of processes and systems for formally reviewing EdTech evidence
• Build relationships with EdTech companies and other key stakeholders to understand their use of evidence relating to EdTech and engage them with the project
• Liaising with a range of stakeholders to promote the use of EdTech evidence and seek input into the design and development of key project deliverables
• Representing the project externally to promote engagement with both the project, and with EdTech evidence generally
• Leading on the delivery of key project deliverables and monitoring progress towards these.

In your wider role, you’ll also be expected to develop the quality and usefulness of our reporting and all aspects of financial management, providing analysis and insight and working closely with all areas of the wider organisation as well as being an active member of the Finance team and deputising for the Head of Finance when necessary.

Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. Job requirements

What we're looking for:

• ACCA/ACA/CIMA or other chartered accounting qualification (or Finalist).

• Proven experience in a finance function in a hands-on role, including working proactively to improve and/or set up and manage effective financial processes.

• Extensive technical knowledge of accounting principles and best practice, with particular reference to specific UK charity accounting rules and regulations.

• Substantial experience of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, plus involvement in financial year-end and annual statutory audit.

• Knowledge of SUNv6 and Infor Q&A or similar finance system, plus Excel analysis and data functions, working with large and variable datasets – and ideally knowledge of Proactis or similar.

• Proven experience of delivering a business partnering focused service and providing in depth insight, analysis, guidance and support to budget-holders.

The Trust Administrator is responsible for maintaining the core administrative functions of the Trust to ensure the smooth operation of the charity, enabling its mission to ensure healthy rivers for wildlife and people. Reporting directly to the Finance and Resource Manager, the Trust Administrator will work with a range of internal and external contacts to ensure routine business functions, human and physical resources, supporter liaison are working well. The role will involve working closely with a range of suppliers, stakeholders and the Estate from which the office is leased.

The role will require exceptional organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and working flexibly in an agile environment. Experience of organisational administration in the public, private or charity sector, and experience of HR, meetings administration and IT are essential while purchasing and negotiating with suppliers is desirable. A helpful and positive attitude is needed, as is a willingness to embrace flexible ways of working. Adherence to certain policies and procedures is essential, including requirements such as data confidentiality and upholding a culture of professionalism.

Whilst the role is predominantly aimed at internal support, including for Trustees and supporters, external liaison will be required with suppliers, funders, partners, and the public.

Prospectus are delighted to be working with a charity that provides an invaluable frontline support service in their search for a Communications Officer.
 
This Communications Officer role is available on a fixed term contract and part-time basis. The salary for this role is £35,000 FTE (pro-rata for 4 days a week). This role is also available on a remote basis.
 
You will report to the Director of Fundraising and look after the communications function of the charity. You will support with work on a rebrand, campaign management and continuous updating of the charity’s website. You will produce high quality content which includes, engaging articles, social media and website content, newsletters, flyers, booklets, and impact stories. You will also film and edit reels for social media channels.
 
You will play a key role supporting the Director of Fundraising in managing/promoting fundraising campaigns, initiatives and events. You will also support with day-to-day marketing duties such as reporting website stats, beneficiary feedback, press management and updating directories. 
 
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent copywriting skills and be able to write for a range of different audiences with impact. You will be digitally savvy and experience using WordPress and web analytics tools (e.g. GA4). You will have in brand management and understanding of SEO. You will have experience using design software (e.g. Canva/InDesign). You will have experience executing fundraising campaigns and publishing digital and print content. You will also have experience in working with a variety of stakeholders at all levels.
 
Desirably, you will have experience filming and editing reels for social media and basic understanding of HTML.
