CAFOD’s mission in the Catholic community of England and Wales is to inspire and equip Catholics to actively engage in the Church’s efforts to overcome poverty and injustice. Our regional teams focus on recruiting and supporting a dedicated group of volunteers within parish and school communities, empowering them to educate, engage, and inspire others to act in solidarity for the common good. The primary purpose of this role is to provide administrative and communications support to the Community Participation Coordinators across England and Wales, with a focus on the West & Wales region as the first point of contact. Changing Faces is seeking a motivated Health Professional Engagement Officer to join our Services Team. This exciting part-time role takes the lead in our professional liaison work to educate health and social care professionals regarding the impact of visible difference and raising their awareness of the important work of the charity.

Main purpose of the role

The main purpose is to develop and maintain relationships with HCPs to:

• increase awareness of the impact of visible difference and educate them in how to effectively support patients
• ensure understanding of the Changing Faces service offers and how to access these
• encourage them to sign up to regular updates and news and stay engaged with us.

This will be done by building and retaining relationships with HCPs via NHS departments, organisations and societies within the field of visible difference; finding ways to keep HCPs on our mailing list engaged and interested in our news; and by providing information, meetings, education and talks both in person and online.

Changing Faces is the UK’s leading charity for everyone who has a mark, scar or condition that makes them look different (a visible difference). Being different in a society where there is such pressure to look a certain way is extremely difficult.

People with visible differences are vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem. They face staring, unwanted attention and even bullying and hate crime. What will I be doing?

Head of Finance

Permanent role offering a salary of up to £71,000 pa, depending on experience

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to join our team. The role will sit within our Central Services Team and will report to the Director of Resources and Business Systems.

In this role, you'll be responsible for producing and delivering monthly management accounts, overseeing financial operations, and ensuring robust internal controls are in place. You'll also manage the year end audit, budgeting and forecasting and support procurement processes, while leading a dedicated finance team.

Over the past decade Pembroke House’s activities in Walworth have grown considerably, with annual turnover rising from £200k to £1 million. Further growth is expected as a result of a new strategy anchored around five 10-year commitments to the neighbourhood, consolidation of our activities across two community buildings and continuing to build wide-ranging partnerships in Walworth.

We are looking for an experienced and skilled financial professional who can steward us through this crucial period of development.  You will be someone who combines a passion for our mission, a keen eye for detail and a flair for interpreting financial information and supporting non-specialists to make sound financial decisions. 

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions. 

The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.

As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.

Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic and relationship-driven Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to lead on growing and stewarding First Give’s portfolio of high-value funders. This role will focus on securing income from High Net Worth Individuals and developing corporate partnerships – from first engagement to account management and delivery.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping First Give’s income growth, working closely with our Deputy Director. This role will also support key engagement activities, including hosting donors at student-led Final events and facilitating employee volunteering at schools.

Elders Voice, a charity supporting older people, are excited to be joining a consortium of organisations, that will work together on making Brent an age friendly borough. Led by the Brent Pensioner’s Forum, the consortium’s aim is to make Brent a place where people can live healthy and active later lives; a place where the environment, activities and services enable older people to enjoy life, participate in society and be valued for their contribution.

We are looking for a coordinator to develop and implement a borough-wide action plan, that addresses the eight barriers to the wellbeing and participation of older people, as identified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) under their Age Friendly Cities Framework. This action plan will help Brent fulfil its vision of becoming an age friendly borough. The post is funded by a grant from Brent Council and will report into the CEO of Elders Voice.
