| Overview and key points on the role | This is a management-level role and will involve working lone shifts during evenings and weekends to provide support to Support Line Workers and volunteers during their shifts. Support Line Manager duties will also include line-managing a team of Support Line Workers, the development and delivery of training, supporting the development and implementation of policy and processes. A key element of the role is safeguarding children and adults at risk who may call us. About the role:
As in Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will support victims of domestic abuse who primarily live in Luton. This role will be part of our other wider specialist services covering Bedfordshire.
As an IDVA you will be:
- Providing a high quality support and advocacy service to victims of domestic abuse.
- Managing a caseload; identifying and assessing risks and needs, providing a tailored crisis intervention service trough individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Working with other agencies and advocating on behalf of service users in order to help them access services to keep them safe.
- Working within a multi-agency framework consisting of partners as well as MARAC and other local partnerships to offer a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
- Promoting the service and raise awareness of domestic abuse through the delivery of training
- Supporting the Daily Domestic Abuse meeting in the IFD (Integrated Front Door), which discusses all
You will need:
- Experience of working in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse
- To be able to prioritise work and deal with competing or conflicting demands/needs and interests and promote organisation interests and values.
- To ideally hold a SafeLives IDVA accreditation, relevant degree, vocational qualification or relevant experience of delivering a service and working with domestic abuse victim's/service users in a statutory, voluntary or community work setting.

About the role
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help deliver SSAFA volunteer support to the serving community.
You will work closely with the Serving Community Manager to develop SSAFA’s support to the serving community through its volunteer delivered Serving Community Teams and the Community Volunteering Service.
Your role will be to ensure a safe and quality service is delivered by volunteers, and support them from the recruitment and induction stage through to becoming a fully trained volunteer.
You will monitor and review the service, providing feedback on progress and areas of concern as well as statistical data to the Serving Community Manager.
In addition, you will provide support and supervision to Community Volunteers and ensure robust recording and handling of beneficiary data in line with SSAFA’s policies and procedures.

We are looking for a highly organised individual to deliver volunteering support to the serving community. You will have a good understanding of the unique issues that the serving Armed Forces community may experience, and knowledge and experience of the charitable sector.

The purpose of the Health and Physical Activity Lead is to work in partnership with health & care partners across the Black Country, including the NHS, Local Authorities and wider Integrated Care System partners.
The role will ensure physical activity & moving are fundamental to people’s health and wellbeing, benefiting individuals from childhood through to older age, by reducing the risk of injury or disease, improving mental health, bringing communities together and encouraging connectedness to support the prevention agenda.
This role will play a critical part in reducing health inequalities, improving health outcomes, and embedding physical activity as a core component of health & care pathways & interventions alongside community wellbeing strategies. In addition, they will work alongside national bodies to influence and engage in best practice for the benefit of residents both within the Black Country and beyond.
Main Duties
1. Working closely with the health and care sector, operate as the lead advocate for the benefits that physical activity and movement can play in benefiting people with long-term health conditions and future prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
2. Develop understanding of the wider health and care system to influence the integration of physical activity into health & care pathways to support population health outcomes.
3. The purpose of the Transport and Physical Activity Lead is to work in partnership with the four Transport Teams across the Black Country to integrate physical activity into Transport planning and delivery.
The role will focus on supporting the implementation of the Black Country Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plan (BC LCWIP), ensuring localised improvements are considered further to ensure connectivity between communities and the active travel infrastructure being delivered.
The role will have responsibility for developing understanding of the walking and cycling landscape and community need.
The role will understand how the BC LCWIP needs to be able to capitalise on both available and emerging funding opportunities to help deliver the cycling and walking vision for the area. The funding, however, is not only limited to the delivery of infrastructure but also to ensuring the right resources and skills are in place to support local activation.
Main Duties
1. Be the lead advocate for the integration of physical activity with Black Country Transport to decrease physical inactivity and support health, environmental and economic outcomes.
2. Drive approaches to place-based work with local partners to support a whole system approach to integrating physical activity into transport policy & services.
3. Lead the development of high-quality relationships which enable a collaborative focus on local transport assets, interventions, initiatives, programmes and activities which create opportunities for people to be active and tackle physical inactivity.

Job Purpose
By providing high quality governance and administrative support you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisation. By supporting our Trustees and SMT you will improve our internal accountability and reduce the administrative burden on our senior team; freeing them to focus on organisational development, on building external relationships and pursuing opportunities which align with our strategy.
Key Tasks
Overseeing our Governance & Administration:
- You will organise and service the Trustee Board and Board Committee meetings, including agendas, minute-taking, follow-ups on actions, ensuring compliance with governing documents and charity law.
- Be the key contact for trustees, including overseeing their recruitment, induction and training.
- Better connect our governance and management processes through improving alignment of our Trustee and management reporting cycles and coordinating meetings and the delivery of Exec reports.
- Act as company secretary and ensure the Company House and Charity Commission websites are kept up to date.
Supporting our Executive team:
- Manage the CEO's diary, coordinate and prepare for SMT meetings, and monthly whole team meetings, maintain action logs, and provide proactive support in work planning.
- Lead on liaison with, and reports to, Age UK national. This will include coordinating visits and the collection of data.
- Develop and oversee our internal knowledge sharing systems
- Ensure our intranet is up to date and our new SharePoint file structure is maintained.
General
- To meet regularly with line manager for support, supervision and appraisal.

Job Title: Trainee or Qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) with an interest in working with children and young people (aged 16 - 25) who are at high risk of serious harm from domestic abuse
Locality: Oxfordshire
Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 depending on experience

Context of post
Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse is a company and charity set up to:
- provide inclusive services that reduce the risk of domestic abuse and promote the safety, choices and welfare of those affected
- enhance awareness of the nature and prevalence of domestic violence and help to foster good practice and an integrated multi integrated approach.
- This post holder will be in the high-risk team and be managed by the Service Manager with support from the Senior IDVA.
- A structured training and induction programme is in place to ensure new staff members are knowledgeable, confident and comfortable with the role.
- After 6 months of experience, the applicant will attend the Safelives IDVA training.
- Workload will be adjusted and study time will be given for attendance at training.
- Salary will be uplifted on successful completion of the course.
The trustees collectively have expertise in domestic abuse, child protection, criminal justice, voluntary sector governance, local authority community safety, training and quality assurance. While primarily a local charity the trustees anticipate that, with a focus on quality, some of the work of the charity may contribute to broader good practice development. The charity participates in a number of multi agency partnerships responsible for aspects of the county’s integrated domestic abuse strategy.
Function
The first priority of the charity is to provide an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor Service for the county. The post holder will be a member of the IDVA team and provide a pro-active service to victims of domestic violence to keep them safe and promote their wellbeing. They will use their skills to assess the risk a client is in, deliver a service appropriate to the level of risk and have a particular focus on providing an intensive service to those at high risk. The post holder will have the skills to act as lead professional, working to ensure an integrated service and co-ordinating multi agency work to keep people safe, in addition to working with victims and signposting to other services.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of the Oxfordshire IDVA team to provide pro-active service and advice to victims at high risk of harm from domestic abuse to keep them and their children safe
- Risk assess and deliver service in keeping with the result
- Undertake safety planning with clients
- Develop individual service plans to meet the specific risks clients face
- Where relevant also support victims in their role as primary carers for their children
- Manage a caseload
- Maintain and update records of all cases
- Participate in champion networks and work closely with outreach workers and any other dedicated DA services as appropriate
- Participate in MARAC framework: refer clients to, attend and participate in meetings, follow-up on actions agreed in MARAC
- Keep other relevant services informed about important changes in client’s situation
- Support clients through the criminal justice system, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within that system
- Ensure that clients are immediately informed of any CJS developments and advised on any aspect affecting their safety
- Explain housing, civil and criminal legal options to clients
- Ensure that clients access the services to which they are entitled
- Refer on and arrange meetings with other agencies/services as necessary e.g. solicitors, benefit agencies, etc.
- Note and feedback to other agencies any consistent difficulties clients are having accessing their service
- Help clients develop their own support network
- Follow procedures and protocols so that the safety of the clients is kept central to any process
- Ensure Reducing the Risk fulfils its responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children
- Understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children, and the policy and procedures of Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children’s Board – including specific guidelines applied to the voluntary sector
- Participate in supervision and support systems for the service, and in training and professional development
- Bring casework issues and regular difficulties clients are having to the attention of the manager; contribute to efforts to improve Reducing the Risk practice and procedures and/or to work through multi agency partnerships to improve multi agency practice
- Any additional responsibilities as reasonably requested by the manager or trustees
The nature of this post will require flexibility to meet work needs as they arise. This may occassionally entail some work outside normal office hours. The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude to their duties. These may have to be varied after discussion, subject to the needs of the service and in keeping with the general profile of the post. There will also sometimes be a necessity to work effectively under pressure.
