Job Description

At the heart of Marie Curie’s Marketing & Communications department, our PR & Media team works to amplify the charity’s voice across national and regional media platforms. We’re a supportive and ambitious team, collaborating with colleagues across Fundraising, Research, Caring Services and Policy, as well as with our network of media professionals and agencies.   

As PR and Media Officer, you will play a crucial role in raising the profile of Marie Curie through compelling storytelling, high-impact media campaigns, and strategic press engagement. Reporting to the National PR and Media Lead for Research and Policy and working closely with the wider team, your work will directly contribute to influencing public understanding of end of life care, and positioning Marie Curie as the UKs leading end of life charity.   

Your creativity, media know-how, and relationship-building skills will help us deliver standout coverage and meaningful public engagement that drives the charity’s long-term goals.

 

Main responsibilities:  

• Support the development and delivery of national PR campaigns that promote organisational objectives.  

• Help manage the charity’s national press office/newsroom, proactively and reactively responding to media opportunities.  

• Draft and distribute press releases, statements, briefings, and Q&As to position Marie Curie as a leading voice in end of life care.  

• Build and nurture relationships with journalists across print, online and broadcast media.  

• Work closely with internal teams to source stories and case studies that drive media impact and support strategic KPIs.  

• Identify and prepare media spokespeople and storytellers, ensuring authentic and powerful representation of lived experiences.  

• Monitor emerging issues and support on reputational risk and crisis communications.  

• Take part in the on-call rota, including occasional out-of-hours, weekend and bank holiday working.  

• Track and evaluate media coverage against agreed performance metrics.  

 

Key Criteria:  

• Previous experience in public relations (in-house or agency), particularly in a press office/newsroom setting or as a journalist. 

• A confident communicator and skilled writer, with strong attention to detail and sensitivity when handling personal stories.  

• Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape and current affairs, with a proven ability to secure impactful coverage.  

• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.  

• A nose for a good story and the initiative to pursue media opportunities as they arise.  

• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.  

• A proactive self-starter, comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.  

• Ability to work unsocial hours as part of the PR team out of hours rota.

MAIN PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The IT Operations Manager will ensure the smooth and secure running of all technology systems across the charity. This role provides operational oversight of IT services, suppliers and infrastructure, enabling staff to work effectively while maintaining compliance, security and resilience. The postholder will play a key role in supporting organisational growth through effective systems management, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Oversee and coordinate the charity’s technology function, ensuring outsourced services are managed effectively, systems are secure and well-maintained, and projects are delivered on time. The postholder will act as the operational lead for technology, supporting staff and stakeholders and contributing to the ongoing development of the charity’s digital capabilities under the Head of Departments’ guidance.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will oversee and coordinate the charity’s technology function, ensuring outsourced IT services are managed effectively and systems remain secure, reliable, and fit for purpose.

You will act as the operational lead for technology, supporting staff and stakeholders while driving the delivery of small-to-medium projects such as system upgrades, CRM enhancements, and security improvements.
 

You will maintain oversight of all systems, integrations and licences, ensuring accurate documentation and identifying opportunities for improvement.

You will also play a key role in governance and compliance, promoting cyber security best practice, supporting data protection measures and maintaining the technology risk register.

Responsibilities of the Role

Supplier & service management

• Act as the main operational contact for outsourced IT support and helpdesk, charity database, and website providers, ensuring effective communication and service delivery.
• Monitor supplier performance, service level agreements (SLAs), and ticketing systems. Escalate issues and follow up to resolution as needed.
• Maintain the contract register, arrange renewals, and support procurement activities related to technology services and systems.

Systems oversight and documentation

• Maintain an up-to-date map of organisational systems, integrations, licences, and the asset register.
• Manage hardware and software requirements across the organisation, ensuring systems are fit for purpose and aligned with operational needs.
• Identify operational risks, technical issues or gaps in provision and implement quick-win improvements where possible.
• Ensure process documentation and user guides are accurate, accessible, and regularly updated.

Project coordination and delivery

• Lead or coordinate small-to-medium technology projects (e.g. multi-factor authentication rollout, system upgrades, CRM module implementation, data migrations).
• Manage project timelines, stakeholder communications, and supplier delivery to ensure successful outcomes.

Governance, security & compliance

• Support the implementation of IT policies (e.g. acceptable use, backup, remote access) and data protection controls.
• Maintain the technology risk register and report to the Head of Finance and Resources to support compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including GDPR.
• Promote cyber security best practices across the organisation, including coordinating periodic phishing tests and reporting outcomes via outsourced suppliers.
• Track departmental spend, support budget monitoring, and prepare cost forecasts for future technology needs.
• Contribute to business cases for new systems or technology investments, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

Stakeholder liaison & internal enablement

• Act as the bridge between technical suppliers and non-technical staff, ensuring clear and effective communication.
• Communicate outages, system changes and project plans clearly to internal stakeholders. Provide guidance and support to users as needed.
• Deliver occasional training or guidance to staff on systems and processes (not first-line helpdesk).
• Develop and report on departmental key performance indicators (KPIs), including but not limited to

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Reliable with a proactive ‘can do’ attitude and flexibility to adapt the role as the organisation’s needs evolve
• Experience coordinating IT services, suppliers or technology projects within a small to medium-sized organisation
• Strong organisational skills and stakeholder management experience
• Clear and confident communicator, able to translate technical issues for non-technical staff
• Working knowledge of common business IT systems including Microsoft 365, cloud services, CRMs, and basic networking concepts
• Good understanding of information security and data protection principles (e.g. multi-factor authentication, backups, GDPR)
• Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities effectively
• Comfortable working in the presence of dogs

Desirable

• Experience working within the charity or third sector
• Experience of working with Managed Service Providers or outsourced IT support models
• Familiarity with website content management systems and CRM/database suppliers

About The Role

About you

- Ensuring the establishment of controls, and that robust assurance processes and activities in all areas of safeguarding, information governance, health and safety, are embedded across the Society 

- Leading, and effective management of: 

- Our Safeguarding Team; including the effective and efficient delivery of safeguarding risk, and case management and consultation. 
- Our Information Governance Team; line managing and championing the role of the Society’s Data Protection Officer and acting as the Deputy Caldicott Guardian for the Society. Ensuring high quality compliant and effective management of information, including data protection, records management, and information security. 
- Our Health and Safety Team; ensuring that the Society delivers a safe, secure, healthy, and compliant environment for all employees, volunteers, involvement participants, service users, and all others that the Society interacts with.

Your Day-to-Day

• Support children and young people with have neuro developmental disabilities attending the school holiday schemes and weekend clubs.
• Create a fun, inclusive and engaging environment where children and young people feel safe, valued and free to express themselves through play.
• Use a personalised approach (based on information provided in a care plan) to ensure that their needs are met and they are supported to communicate in their preferred method (Speech, Makaton, Gestures, Symbols, etc.)
• Assist with personal care where required such as toileting, eating, drinking. Some of the children and young people we support have complex medical needs and require additional support to meet their basic needs; full training is provided.
• Ensure all activities meet health and safety standards and safeguarding expectations.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to plan and deliver high-quality experiences.
• Communicate effectively with the Service Manager, colleagues, and parents/carers to share updates or concerns.
• Help set up and tidy activity areas before and after sessions.
• Attend team meetings, debriefs and training sessions to continuously improve practice.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible and creative thinking, willing to adapt quickly to situations and go with the flow.
• Awareness of Health & Safety and safeguarding.

Head of philanthropy

Location: Contracted to our Peterborough office with the flexibility for hybrid working

About the role 

Volunteers are vital to Parkinson’s UK; they provide high valued support and services through local branches, groups and cafes. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to work directly with volunteers, together making a positive difference to the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s. 

You’ll act as the main point of contact and support for volunteers in local branches, groups and cafes. As part of an integrated regional team, you’ll contribute to shared plans and priorities. We’re looking for a Housing Administrator to join our finance and compliance team. The  role will support the delivery of high quality housing services, ensuring our properties remain safe, well-maintained, and compliant.

This role is ideal for candidates with strong organisational and administrative skills. Experience in housing, property, or compliance is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Our peer led crisis service in Bury provides peer support and practical support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis for adults experiencing a mental health crisis in our community. The service started in 2021 and has received year on year funding increases due to the success we have had. We are expanding our service so we now have a vacancy for a new Service Lead position within our team.

The Service Lead position is an exciting opportunity to join our well respected metal health charity and help shape this growing service. This is very much a lead from the front role, our service leads hold frontline responsibilities as well as their management responsibilities. The Role

As Events Virger, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of services and events. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and resetting the Cathedral for services, concerts, and special events. Assist with the setting up and removal of all content and furnishings requested for this activity.
• Opening and closing the Cathedral on a rota basis.
• Ensure the efficient cleaning of the Cathedral with effective use of time and materials and without the need for supervision (the team of Virgers are responsible for all the Cathedral cleaning).
• To be on duty, in accordance with the rota, on Sundays, Festival Days and other occasions, in addition to other routine duties.
• Maintain vestments, altar furnishings and vessels and prepare them for all Services.
• Operating sound and lighting systems as needed.
• Support and assist Chaplains, Guides and other volunteers as required.
• Safeguarding donations and collections.

Centre 33 is an ambitious and growing charity based across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We offer a range of high-quality services to young people aged up to 25, including information and support on a “drop in” basis, mental health services, counselling, housing and financial advice, sexual health support and support for young carers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established ‘Someone to Talk to’ service in a Team Lead role.  The Team Lead will manage and oversee a team of staff and volunteers supporting young people across Centre 33’s two hubs in our South Locality – in Cambridge City and Ely. The Team Lead will work closely with the other Team Leads and Heads of Service to jointly ensure our multidisciplinary teams deliver excellent, safe, impactful and responsive services to young people.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with experience working within a practical support, youth work or mental health role, and with experience of managing people.  The Team Lead will bring strong expertise and leadership to Centre 33’s holistic support offer for young people aged 13-25 years: our open-access drop-in, ongoing support around practical needs such as housing, and flexible mental health support. They will be responsible for providing support with case allocation, case management, reflective practice, risk management and Safeguarding. They will provide day-to-day designated Safeguarding leadership, supported by the Head of Service and Director of Services.  They will develop strong relationships with local organisations to ensure effective joint working and support for young people.  This role may deliver ad hoc case work to support young people with more complex needs but will not hold an ongoing regular case load.

The hours of work for this role are predominantly within core opening hours of 10 to 6pm, with some evening/Saturday working based on a rota. Due to our service delivery, it is important that the Team Lead is available for hub-based work during our core working hours.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Insights and Evaluation team at Dementia UK in a pivotal role that promotes a culture of learning and evaluation across the charity.

As the Insights and Evaluation Advisor, you will lead and support evaluations that measure and communicate the impact of Admiral Nursing and wider Dementia UK initiatives. You will design and deliver robust evaluations using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, ensuring high standards of data quality, ethical practice and GDPR compliance.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity, you will provide expert advice on evaluation design, data collection and analysis, to develop datasets that drive evidence-based practice. In addition, you will support Admiral Nurses to build their evaluation skills, enabling them to measure and communicate the difference they make to families affected by dementia. By embedding insight into projects and services, you will help turn data into meaningful action, informing decisions, campaigns and improving outcomes across Dementia UK.

To succeed in this role, you will have a First Degree and demonstratable experience in a relevant discipline e.g. health research and evaluation, health service improvement, public health and social research. You will need strong evaluation, research and project management skills including advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

Additionally, you should be confident working independently and collaboratively, with the ability to influence and advise colleagues at all levels.
