Here is a chance to use your ability to coordinate content that helps us to convey our messages clearly, accurately and concisely with the public and with a range of institutions, local authorities, political bodies and other stakeholders, mainly across London.

Communications is central to who we are and what we do. We have a diverse range of campaigns and on-the-ground projects that help us with our mission to make London a well-planned, greener, climate resilient and nature rich city, which benefits everyone.

This aim of this role is to support our Director, colleagues and volunteers with internal and external comms, shape the team and the future communications strategy. Other duties may include email marketing, social media and oversight of the website.

Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to help us champion environmental issues such as the climate crisis, renewable energy, biodiversity and sustainable transport.

Our friendly team will provide you with training and support to develop in your role. You’ll gain valuable skills and experience in building media relationships, steering and creating marketing content and materials.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Coordinating the messaging from campaign comms and social media volunteer team

• Writing compelling copy which raises the profile of CPRE London and its work

• Proofreading, restructuring and editing articles 

• Updating the CPRE London website with new content 

• Optimising published pieces for SEO 

• Working with the social media volunteer to promote new content 

• Working with the volunteer web developer, monitoring web traffic and user engagement 

Our team will provide training and support to develop your role.

What are we looking for?

Key Skills & Experience

Preferably with 2 or more years’ experience of communications roles with excellent writing and editorial skills, good attention to details, and familiar with managing messages in the media.

·Great communication skills and an engaging style of writing

·Content editing and attention to detail

·An interest in environmental issues and enthusiasm for our aims

·        Some experience of team management useful, but able to work independently and as part of a team

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care. 

• As an RPR Support Volunteer you might: 
• Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support 
• Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes 
• Raise concerns 
• Keep detailed notes and records 
• Make a real difference to someone’s life 

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

Volunteers are essential to Shannon Trust and bring their energy, ideas and skills to train mentors in prisons, support learners in the community and enhance our business support team.

We are looking for volunteers to provide training and support to our mentors in prison. There may be some additional preparation and/ or administrative tasks in between volunteering days at the prison.

Our prison volunteers nurture the growth of the Shannon Trust in their prison. They help unlock the power of reading by delivering training sessions for prison mentors and offering ongoing advice, guidance and support through mentor meetings.

Volunteer recruitment dates

The closing date for applications to attend our next round of training is 25 January 2026. In some circumstances, volunteer vacancies may close early. Successful applicants will be sent interview questions in advance with notice to prepare. We will respond to all applications. Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between 26 January and 6 February 2026. This is an opportunity for you to meet our regional team, to find out more about you and for us to share more information about the volunteering role.

Training:

You'll be given high quality training to prepare you for volunteering with Shannon Trust. This takes place over 4 training sessions and via our online training portal. We ask that volunteers aim to complete the training in one course as this means that you will be ready to start actively volunteering. The next training sessions for volunteering for people applying to be a prison based volunteer will take place as follows.

Why we want you

Shannon Trust’s vision is of a future where everyone can experience the positive impact of learning. As a prison volunteer your role will be at the heart of our organisation as you support our mentors in prisons. This will include delivering training to new mentors and supporting existing mentors to develop and deliver our Turning Pages and Count Me In programmes. You will be volunteering alongside Shannon Trust facilitators and / or frontline prison staff to empower mentors and ensure no one is left out of learning.

• Supporting with the planning of, and attendance at, celebration events
• Collecting and sharing good news stories and feedback
• Attending area meetings and sharing good practice with other volunteers
• Engaging with quarterly reviews to receive support and discuss progress
• Acting as an ambassador for Shannon Trust in all that you do, sharing the vision and values of the charity throughout your volunteering

• A commitment to providing non-judgemental support to people in prison
• Able to give a regular, reliable commitment for ideally two years and have flexibility to visit the prison at times required

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

About IRMO

IRMO works to enable the development, agency, and participation of Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change. 

About the Children and Young People Area

Our programme offers a wide range of activities for migrant, asylum-seeking and refugee families, children and young people. These include English classes, mentoring, creative workshops and group trips. We help children and young people secure places in nurseries, schools, colleges and universities, boost educational attainment and make friends while learning, creating and discovering talents. For parents, we offer tailored advice, advocacy and workshops that connect families with essential services, including support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and emergency assistance.

About the Role The Youth Media & Campaigns Volunteer will work closely with the Youth Project Coordinator to strengthen the voice and visibility of the Latin American Youth Forum (LAYF) SPACE. This role goes beyond publicity, it’s about helping to grow our online presence,  experiment with creative ideas, and bring a modern, dynamic touch to the way we connect with people and partners.

Main tasks and responsibilities

● Support the Youth Worker & Mentor to plan and deliver the LAYF SPACE Workshops and facilitate sessions in Spanish/Portuguese. This would include session space set up, registration, welcoming young people, co-facilitation and assisting the Youth Worker with managing the group.

● Support with the translation of existing and new resources or comms material from English to Spanish/Portuguese.

● Support with monitoring the impact of activities and evaluating the young people's progress by giving out questionnaires, feedback forms and collecting information for case studies

● Adhere to IRMO’s Safeguarding procedures and report any safeguarding concerns. We are looking for someone who is/has: ● Fluent in English and Spanish (essential) and Portuguese (desirable).

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

● Competence in online video conferencing tools (Zoom, Skype, Google Meets), Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills in English & Spanish and/or Portuguese.

● Experience using social media or digital tools for activism.

● Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

Available volunteer opportunities include;

Regular visits to a person or couple navigating cancer to offer company and a friendly, listening ear at a difficult time.

Providing transport to a person or couple navigating cancer from their home to healthcare appointments including but not limited to Chemotherapy / Radiology sessions and GP appointments.

Light gardening support.

Subject to the volunteers wishes, some volunteer placements can include support with light housework, shopping support, accompanying a client on a walk or short external trips, and enjoying shared hobbies that bring both the client and volunteer a great sense of wellbeing.

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteer roles listed above involve visiting a client at their home in some capacity. We currently do not have any volunteer roles that involve working from your home / online.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Good communication, empathy, and the ability to be non-judgmental.

WHAT WE OFFER: An enormous sense of wellbeing and purpose and an increased understanding of those living with cancer and comparable conditions; just giving an hour or more a week’s companionship and practical help can make a huge difference to an unpaid carer and who they care for.

Project overview: 

Our Drop-In Cafés offer a free, supportive, non-judgemental environment in which to access low-level support over a cup of tea. Any adult can attend; no referrals are needed. We currently have two physical locations in Surbiton and Kingston.

Mind in Kingston supports people with mental health issues and raises awareness within Kingston and surrounding areas. Volunteers are essential to our work, and we welcome applicants with lived experience of mental health challenges. While lived experience can bring valuable perspective, it is not a requirement for volunteering with us. Our focus is on providing volunteers with the training, guidance and supervision they need to feel confident in their roles and to develop their skills. Volunteers are supported to succeed and offered opportunities to connect with trustees, staff and other volunteers both professionally and socially. Above all, we value the contribution volunteers make to our community and are committed to recognising their achievements.

Main purpose of the role: 

• To offer a warm welcome and low-level support in a safe, inclusive space for individuals facing mental health challenges.

Tasks will include: 

• Greet attendees and help them feel comfortable.  

• Engage in empathetic, non-judgemental conversation.  

• Encourage participation in activities and social interaction.  

• Understand and respect the limits of the volunteer role (not therapeutic).  

• Share information about local services and events when appropriate.  

• Stay alert to concerns and report them to staff as trained.  

• Collaborate with staff and other volunteers to ensure smooth operations. 

What you will receive in return: 

• Training: Includes induction, safeguarding, and boundary awareness.  

• Support: Regular supervision and check-ins with the café coordinator.  

• Recognition: Opportunities to develop skills and be part of a supportive team.  

• Expenses: Reimbursement of agreed costs. 

What we expect from you: 

• Commitment to regular sessions (flexible options available) for at least six months.  

• Attend training and follow café policies.  

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding principles.  

• Be reliable, empathetic, and respectful.  

• Treat everyone with dignity and respect.  

• Completion of required training. 

• Adherence to Mind in Kingston’s policies (e.g., confidentiality, safeguarding). 

• Proactive engagement with your supervisor for support. 

• Safe handling and return of any equipment issued. 

Safeguarding & Boundaries  

• Volunteers do not provide crisis or clinical support.  

• Safety concerns must be escalated to staff immediately.  

• Volunteers must not share personal contact details or meet attendees outside the café.  

• Ongoing training and support provided to ensure confidence in responsibilities.  

Application Process: 

• Two recent references are required. 

• An enhanced DBS check is necessary. 

We ask volunteers for two references, one of which must come from someone who has supervised you recently in your work or studies, such as a current or previous employer or a tutor. You will also need to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as you will be working with vulnerable adults.

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care.

As an RPR Support Volunteer you might:

· Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support

· Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes

· Raise concerns

· Keep detailed notes and records

· Make a real difference to someone’s life
