Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. 

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports over 3,200 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 160 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

About the Role

The Finance Assistant has responsibility for a variety of finance functions including the purchase and sales ledger, making payments to suppliers, invoicing Corporate Partners and Schools and reconciling bank accounts. They support the day to day running of the Finance Team ensuring that tasks such as posting invoices, reconciling customer accounts, supporting credit control and chasing non-payments are carried out in a timely and accurate fashion. 

The Finance Assistant reports to and works closely with the Head of Finance and plays a critical role in resolving finance queries from Chapter One colleagues, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal processes and contributing to the effective financial management of Chapter One. 

This role is ideal for someone who has experience in a similar position within a finance team and has good working knowledge of accounting principles and a basic understanding of income for charities. They will work remotely and will need to have access to a reliable internet connection. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and the post-holder must be permanently based in the UK at the time of applying and for the duration of their employment.

All Chapter One employees are required to attend quarterly in-person staff meetings held in various locations across the UK (all expenses covered) as well as monthly all staff virtual meetings which are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00 - 13:00; participation is mandatory.

About the role

We’re looking for a social media and community officer to join our team and work across our large online communities on social media and our peer-to-peer support forum. You’ll be a key part of our day-to-day delivery of content and engagement and ensure that our key messages reach our audiences.

This is an exciting time to join the charity as it launches its new five-year strategy this autumn to supercharge our efforts to transform the lives of anyone affected by breast cancer.

You’ll work collaboratively across the charity on exciting campaigns to deliver our social media strategy through engaging content on our different channels. We are seeking a qualified Specialist ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) to join our Advocacy team at Respond. The role includes providing pro-active emotional, practical and advocacy support for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people with complex or multiple needs who have experienced any form of sexual violence and are engaging, (or considering engaging) with the criminal justice system. The ISVA will work across London to provide non-judgmental, trauma-informed emotional support, working in partnership with other London sexual violence support services. 

Our ideal candidate will have experience in the ISVA role as well as a friendly and relational approach to working with clients.  You will have the ability to build trusting relationships, work in an empowering and inclusive way and support clients to heal following sexual abuse and develop coping capacity. You will be a self-motivated individual who will engage with a wider range of people who have experience sexual violence, and other barriers to justice.

Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is the national charity caring for historic churches at risk. As the operator of the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, our 356 historic churches include examples of irreplaceable architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of English history.

CCT has an international award-winning reputation in heritage conservation and regeneration. All churches in our care are listed, mostly Grade I and II*, and some are Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

Overall job purpose

This is a fundamental role within our South regional team, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer.

The future of CCT’s outstanding collection of historic churches depends on communities supporting their local CCT church with funds, events, inspiring interpretation, visitor services and preventive conservation. A dynamic, vibrant London-based community charity is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Finance to join its Executive Team. This is a pivotal leadership role, shaping financial strategy, strengthening systems and reporting, and enabling the delivery of ambitious community-focused projects.

The Head of Finance will provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO, Board and senior colleagues, oversee a high-performing finance team, and take responsibility for financial planning, compliance, audit, and risk. • Oversee financial accounts, forecasting, cashflow and reserves, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

• Senior-level experience in a complex organisation, ideally in the charity sector.

• Strong track record of financial leadership, reporting and compliance.

• Experience of leading and developing teams.

• Knowledge of charity accounting, VAT and Corporation Tax.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Individual Giving Officer to join King’s College Hospital Charity. The money the charity raises helps to fund cutting-edge facilities and equipment as well as pioneering research and treatment. The Individual Giving Officer role has come about due to growth and investment in the team. You will report into the Individual Giving Manager and will help achieve the income target of £1.3 million. You will be given the opportunity to work across all channels (f2f, telemarketing, direct mail and digital) and income streams (regular giving, lottery, in memory and legacy giving). Tasks will include, day to day admin for campaigns; running a direct mail appeal (with income between £10-20K); copy and content creation; research; invoice processing and complaint handling; speaking to donors; liaising with external agencies; and working on the stewardship journey.

There is a wealth of potential in the fundraising team at King’s College Hospital Charity and there is a lot of opportunity for you achieve new things and help shape the direction and future success of their IG programme.  

To be successful as the Individual Giving Officer, you will need:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Individual Giving & Community Fundraising Manager will have an exciting opportunity to grow World Child Cancer’s individual giving. They will also lead on creating a donor experience that will ensure people can engage with us in lots of different ways, from a lottery or regular support, legacies, community fundraising and events (including the London Marathon).

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Managing and growing individual giving.
• Recruiting and stewarding individual supporters through existing channels.
• Helping to secure funding to invest in launching a World Child Cancer charity lottery.
• Stewarding participants to build a pool of regular givers, medium level donors, legacy donors and event participants.
• Ensuring fundraising data is effectively managed, analysed and utilised.

This is a hands-on management role so you will need to be prepared to do the work as well as managing.
