Training and Projects Officer

Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Hours of work: Full-time (0.8-1FTE negotiable), Monday-Friday, permanent.

Salary range: £26,000 - £28,000 FTE starting salary, depending on experience.

Purpose

This is an interesting and important position at the Trust, with the postholder taking responsibility for a range of administrative and project management tasks supporting our Education programme, working to both the Education Project Manager and the Trust’s Head of Programmes.

Our Education Programme is our body of charitable activity delivering training and resources appropriate for schools, colleges and universities, often working with education institutions to create a whole school/college approach to promote good mental health in students and staff alike.

The postholder will be the first point of contact for our training team, enabling our mental health training delivery to take place. There will be opportunities to play a key role in monitoring and evaluation, and obtain a good understanding of the sector. This is a key role in ensuring the Trust and its activities are serviced with robust, reliable and up-to-date evidence and information.

You’ll need to be confident in dealing with the charity’s delivery partners and beneficiaries, both over the telephone and face to face. You’ll enjoy working with and supporting our trainer and office teams, and be super organised and proactive. You’ll manage a varied workload, prioritising tasks as necessary, and will be comfortable communicating with a wide range of people at all levels. We have a small office team, and the successful applicant will need to be a flexible team player.

Key responsibilities and duties

• Work closely with and provide administrative support to the Education Programme.
• Support trainers with the day-to-day running of online and face-to-face courses and maintain effective communication links with the freelance trainers. The postholder is the primary office contact for the training team.
• Liaise with freelance trainers to provide logistical and technical support in the day-to-day delivery of training, Charlie Waller Trust (CWT) conferences and open access webinars.
• Project manage Webinars and E-Learning projects.
• Respond to general enquiries by phone and email on behalf of the Charitable Activities team and deal with these as appropriate.
• Participate in the planning, development, creation, and implementation of training programmes to ensure the smooth running of all courses.
• Collect data directly from colleges, universities, and schools programmes.
• Ensure proper filing of measurement and evaluation documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports and datasets.
• Assist senior leaders and the wider team in the production and maintenance of project plans and help implement project objectives from start to finish.
• Collaborate with the existing team to implement new and improved methods to capture and report on our impact.
• Maintain monitoring and evaluation data on the Trust database to ensure accurate data analysis.
• Assist with Quarterly reporting to the CEO and Trustee Board, leading on gathering statistical data from across Charitable Activities.
• Manage and support our Lived Experience Partners (including our Youth Ambassador team) alongside any other freelance trainers.
• Routine call handling as part of the wider office administrative team.

The Fundraising Officer at the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) supports a wide range of the charity’s activities, including but not limited to, helping to develop and grow income from individual donors with a focus on developing strong relationships with donors and families; as well as assisting with CHECT’s overall admin and operations.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping families affected by retinoblastoma and shares our values to increase awareness through communications and appeals, expanding our social media and website content and supporting our exciting fundraising efforts.

Background                                                             

Our 68-year-old charity is one of the most exciting and flexible employers in the charity sector. Main purpose and scope of Role

This role will play key to engaging with and supporting PTAs across the region, as well as a variety of stakeholders such as schools, parent groups, local authorities, potential sponsors or supporters and other organisations as our suite of programmes grows. This role initially focuses on the following, but is subject to change as programmes are launched or evolved:

PTA Programme

• Growing our network of PTAs.
• Supporting PTAs through leadership transition to minimise PTAs closing unnecessarily.
• Organising gatherings of PTAs to enhance the PTA community.
• Providing training and awareness sessions for PTAs.
• Providing community support to PTAs during peak activity periods online or by phone.
• Helping schools establish PTAs and supporting them during their first year through our new PTA Launchpad programme.

Parent Programme

• Raising awareness of Parentkind’s growing programme of support for parents, directly or indirectly through schools or other partners.
• Building relationships with parent groups to support engagement with our growing suite of parent support opportunities.
• Organising events for parents as part of our Parent Programme.
• Building relationships with regional stakeholders to support Parent Programme activities.

Other Programmes/Services

• Encouraging uptake or (when charged) sales of our broad and growing suite of programmes and services.

Wider Stakeholder Engagement:

Islington Centre is seeking a committed and motivated Support Service Caseworker. We operate in-person from the Centre’s premises in Islington on a Tuesday and Wednesday. We create a community, teach English, provide a support service and a therapeutic and creative space with arts activities and sports that help people who have suffered trauma.  You will be working directly to help resolve issues arising around destitution, accommodation, asylum support, health benefits and referrals to partner organisations and further education colleges. This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Senior Development Manager, you will work closely with the CEO, Director of Development and the Board to develop a giving strategy that will directly feed into our organisational strategy, with a focus on increasing engagement and the growth of the major donor income stream.

You will manage a portfolio of existing major donors and conduct prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship of donors giving gifts from £5,000 to £50,000.

We are expanding our work to meet this growing need and have developed a new strategy to address the risk of social and economic exclusion.

It can be difficult to know where to start and what you are entitled to, but we are here to help them every step of the way. To assist us in this endeavour, we are looking for an experienced full-time Welfare and Benefits Information Lead.  You will assist clients in claiming welfare benefits, grants, and any financial aid that may be available to them. This includes informing them of any financial help available, supporting them with applications and following up on claim as necessary.  Where anyone has been given an end of life diagnosis you will be required to start the application on their behalf. In addition, you will also conduct financial wellbeing assessments in the community and schedule one-on-one application completion consultations with individuals who request your assistance.

This vital role will suit an enthusiastic and dynamic person who has excellent communication skills, being able to deal with complex matters effectively both verbally and in writing.  You will need to understand the issues involved in interviewing people within a time defined period. The ideal applicant will have emotional resilience to deal with people who have experienced cancer or bereavement. An empathetic and compassionate approach is important.  The Welfare Benefits Information Lead will be at the forefront of our client-based services and need to be self-motivated and have a positive and flexible attitude.

The Liberal Jewish Synagogue’s Drop-In for Asylum Seeker Families was established in June 2014.

Opening one Sunday afternoon each month, we welcome families with children under the age of sixteen who are applying for asylum in the UK. We provide a warm and welcoming space for our guests and give money or vouchers, advice, clothing, food and toiletries. We invite hundreds of people into the synagogue, and the Project Co-ordinator is expected to manage the logistics of this.

Our volunteers are experienced and loyal, all having a particular interest in assisting asylum seekers and refugees. The project is interfaith, and we encourage applications from within the LJS community and beyond.

We are seeking to recruit a Project Co-ordinator. This is currently a part-time post 20-25 hours per week, with a degree of flexibility as to when these hours are worked. The hours include working one weekend per month: setting up the Drop-in on the Saturday (after the Shabbat morning service), and running the Drop-in on the Sunday. Attending Steering Group Meetings (currently on ‘Zoom’) is also a requirement on a weekday evening 4-6 times per annum.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

· Maintaining a safe and secure register of our guests and checking eligibility criteria

· Reviewing guests’ documentation

· Referring guests to other services where appropriate

· Answering emails from prospective guests and maintaining a ‘Waiting List’

· Inviting guests to the Drop-In by text/email as appropriate

· Preparing lists of guests attending; clearly showing their financial entitlements on the day

· Liaising with the three Volunteer Co-ordinators on a regular basis

· Interviewing new volunteers, and advertising the project beyond the scope of the synagogue

· Responding to enquiries (via telephone /email) relating to the Drop-In from various parties

· Checking that Security Guard/s are hired appropriately

· Ensuring cash is obtained in a timely fashion from the LJS office to distribute on the Sunday

· Monitoring volunteer expenses

· Reviewing accounts in conjunction with the Steering Group

· Coordinating grant applications and keeping key stakeholders up to date

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have relevance in settings across the world. 

Our Ghana-based programmes team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Peer Mentoring Programmes. These enable them to lead EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. About this role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional, with a proven track record of income generation and a strong ability to develop impactful relationships with the skills to bring aligned individuals and organisations into our long-term EduSpots community. The post holder will be creative, passionate and self-motivated, with strong marketing and communications skills, able to design and implement strategic fundraising approaches. 

In this role, you will take on responsibility for identifying, creating and delivering impactful fundraising strategies that enable us to generate further relationships and income in support of our programmes. 

You will oversee the development of our individual giving and monthly giving strategies and further develop relationships with schools, corporate organisations and NGOs, with a focus on resource acquisition (e.g. books, electronic devices) alongside fundraising. You will also play a supportive role in events and campaigns, and work closely with our Head of Communications to ensure our marketing and communications strategy is integrated with our fundraising aims. Currently, we already have a trusts and foundations manager, but would welcome applicants with experience of trust fundraising.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Develop our individual giving and monthly giving strategies, including:

  • Ensuring we have the right tools in place.

  • Strengthening thanking and communications to existing supporters.

  • Trialling new strategies for outreach to new audiences.

• Organise occasional fundraising events (e.g. face-to-face events in London; virtual events and fundraising challenges).

Reporting to the Head of Programme Funding, you will work across the fundraising team, supporting programme set up and reporting, in line with key funding criteria and SOS Children’s Villages monitoring frameworks. You will work with colleagues in SOS Children’s Villages UK and internationally, building capacity in programme design, monitoring and reporting. This includes working with colleagues in multiple countries, collaborating on best practice MEAL work whilst being guided by local knowledge and expertise.

You will hold oversight of the portfolio of programmes being funded by SOS Children’s Villages UK, ensuring the UK based team have the tools, resources and processes to monitor programmes, in partnership with our international colleagues. You will manage reporting timelines, supporting your colleagues to ensure effective delivery of programme reporting, according to the needs of SOS Children’s Villages UK and external donors. You will provide hands on support for the monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting of programmes, taking a lead role in the development of frameworks that will ensure effective capture of data enabling excellent reporting.

Main purpose of job: To work in the Navigator team supporting individuals who have or are experiencing sexual violence and or sexual abuse. As a first contact worker, you will act as a gateway to both specialist counselling and advocacy services and additional specialist support services in Essex. The support you deliver will help individuals on their pathway to wellbeing, recovery, and social inclusion through building trusting and collaborative relationships. You will guide users to make informed decisions about their own wellbeing, maximising their independence and engaging in appropriate community or clinical resources/interventions.

You will work within a team of first contact navigators under the supervision of a service lead. You will be highly motivated and dedicated, have strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Salary:£24,496 - £26,845 per annum.

Contract: This contract is until 31st March 2026, with the potential to extend if funding is continued.

Hours: 35 hours per week.  

Place of work: CARA premises in Colchester and some remote home working if a suitable environment is available.  Some travel to other locations in Essex may be required, particularly during the induction period.

Holiday: 25 days per year, plus additional closure days between Christmas and New Year.

Job Description

The First Contact Navigators play a central role in the CARA team, ensuring that our service users and other agencies receive a high-quality service from the moment of first contact. You will work as part of a wider team of First Contact Navigators across Esse and the post liaises with clients, the CARA team and external agencies, providing advice, support and information.

The First Contact Navigator will engage with individuals who are experiencing, or who have experienced, sexual violence and or sexual abuse who require information, signposting and short-term support.  You will be the first contact and conduct first meetings, managing your own caseload and co-ordinating personalised support for individuals on their pathway to wellbeing. You will have strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work under minimal supervision. You will support people who use CARA services to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, maximising their independence and engaging in appropriate community or clinical resources. You will work collaboratively with service users, the CARA team and other professional agencies to navigate and coordinate services.  

The main responsibilities of the post are:

· To act as a first point of contact for new referrals and enquiries, providing information, emotional support, advice and signposting.

· To complete first contact calls and assessments with clients over the telephone.

· To ensure information about new referrals/enquiries is accurately recorded on CARA’s database in real time.

· To work collaboratively and build trust with service users, agencies, personal and professional support networks to collate relevant information to effect individualised support requirements.

· To assess and engage service users not currently engaged in appropriate specialist sexual violence services.

· To seek and respond to referrals from a variety of internal and external sources.

· To assist survivors and relatives/supporters of survivors in understanding the range of resources and services available to them.

· To support service users to engage effectively with appropriate services to meet their individual needs and aspirations.

· To work as a link between clients, CARA staff and external agencies, ensuring appropriate information is passed on.

· To work closely with the Essex-wide team of First Contact Navigators and Information and Referral Coordinators to ensure effective referral processes across Essex.

· To act as a point of contact for external agencies making referrals to CARA, answering queries about our referral process.

· To cover the enquiry line and the office phone and deal with enquiries as required.

· To pro-actively promote CARA’s services to external agencies, ensuring they are aware of our referral procedures.

· To contribute to development of promotional information, to ensure information about the referral process is clear and accessible.

· To attend regular team meetings and to work with colleagues to further the objectives of CARA.

· To adhere in full to all CARA’s organisational policies and procedures, including safeguarding procedures.

· To report to the Service Development Manager, Head of Operations, CEO and Trustees as required, including the production of regular written reports.

· To be administratively self-servicing.

· To undertake any other related activities as required by the Head of Operations, CEO or the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

· To take on new client, office and administration responsibilities as CARA develops.

CARA is part of Synergy Essex – the Essex Rape and Sexual Abuse Partnership. We are looking for a senior regulatory affairs specialist to join our Science & Regulatory Affairs team, with experience in regulatory toxicology in the chemicals and/or consumer products sector. A clear desire to end testing on animals is essential.

You will work within the Science & Regulatory Affairs team to deliver the organisation’s objectives relating to the ending of testing on animals, with a focus on regulatory testing in the chemical and consumer product sectors. Your role will mostly address regulatory testing on animals in Europe, some activities will also be relevant to the UK, and some will be internationally relevant.

We are recruiting for an experienced Employment and Transition Mentor to work closely with Autistic/neurodivergent individuals aged 16 to 25 residing in the Bromley borough, to enable skills which will assist them in overcoming barriers to employment and achieving their vocational goals.

This role involves assessment, guidance, and advocacy to ensure that each student reaches their maximum potential. 

In partnership with the London Borough of Bromley, this new unique role has been developed as part of an exciting pilot project funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support autistic/neurodivergent students to transition from school into further training or permanent paid employment. 

The successful candidate will provide training and workshops to participants and their support networks to enhance understanding and coping skills. In addition, the role will be required to provide training for other stakeholders (employers and other organisations) to raise awareness and ensure they understand the needs of the participants. 

Main Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of participants to help them take the steps they need to gain employment. This can include CV writing, interview practice, work experience, apprenticeships, college and/or other vocational courses, paid employment opportunities.
• Work closely with local employers and engage them in signing up to the Employability programme
