Trustee commitment and responsibilities
All Trustee positions are voluntary with reasonable expenses remunerated.
To be an effective Trustee, you will need to commit approximately 1-2 days per quarter to attend and prepare for board meetings which are generally held virtually.
Members of our Audit, Risk and Compliance committee additionally meet two weeks before each board meeting for finance and regulation focused discussions with the Executive team.

At MiMIAT Health, we are empowering heroes with chronic conditions. We offer a multilingual app (iOS & Android), already live across Europe and Kenya, that enables patients to track symptoms, diet, weight, and stool. Soon, they’ll also integrate wearables and upload clinical records, building a unified, patient-owned health timeline.
Chronic disease management today remains highly fragmented, inequitable, and provider-centric, leaving millions without continuous care, especially in low-resource or high-mobility settings. Patients often lose ownership of their own health data, resulting in reactive instead of proactive care, late interventions and detections of flare ups, and preventable hospitalizations. 89% of chronic patients fail to consistently track their condition due to fragmented, manual, or incomplete tools, and 71% of doctors report that disconnected apps and records create gaps in delivering personalized care. In many regions, patients without smartphones or stable internet access are further excluded from digital health innovation.
MiMIAT Health addresses these challenges by creating a unified, patient-driven platform for structured health data aggregation, with mobile and SMS-based accessibility. We tackle the systemic inequities of chronic care access, digital inclusion, and health data sovereignty, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being.
MiMIAT Health is a digital health platform offering a free mobile app (iOS and Android) available in five languages, enabling patients to self-track key health metrics, and soon connect medical devices, and upload clinical documents — building their own continuous health record. By Q4 2025, we are also set to launch SMS-based access to reach digitally underserved populations.
Healthcare providers, with patient consent — particularly in primary and secondary care — can access this real-time data through our web platform, allowing earlier interventions and more proactive care. Legal Advisor (HealthTech)
Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)
At MiMIAT Health, we’re looking for a Legal & Compliance Advisor (volunteer) to help us strengthen MiMIAT’s regulatory foundation as we expand across clinical environments. You’ll be joining a purpose-driven, fast-growing HealthTech project that centers dignity, inclusion, and patient empowerment. As we enter our provider integration phase (in Kenya and Spain), your guidance will be essential to ensure we’re compliant with healthcare regulations, GDPR, and best practices around patient data. We’ll also be drafting and refining our Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, and provider-facing documentation. You’ll work directly with the Founder & CEO, helping build the ethical and legal scaffolding of MiMIAT Health across Europe, Kenya, and beyond.
What you’ll do? – Review and co-develop core legal documents (Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, data consent flows) in line with GDPR and relevant data regulations. – Assess provider agreements and cross-border data flows, identifying legal and compliance risks early. – Design and refine compliant data-sharing practices between patients and providers, with a focus on privacy and trust. – Support MiMIAT’s privacy-by-design architecture, ensuring it scales responsibly across markets (Europe and Africa first). – Act as a regulatory advisor during conversations with hospitals, clinics, and public health institutions. – Be a sounding board for compliance strategy, ensuring our growth remains ethical, defensible, and future-proof.

Role description
As Chair, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Board of Trustees. Your regular responsibilities will include liaising with the CEO to set the agenda and agree the papers for Board meetings, chairing Board meetings, holding regular catch-ups with Trustees, and leading on Trustee recruitment and retention and Board development. In addition, you will also be the line manager to the CEO, holding regular meetings and undertaking the annual appraisal and objective setting. You will also sit on the Finance Committee (chaired by the Treasurer) and be responsible for determining complaints and grievances where a decision is appealed.
As a Trustee, you will have a number of core duties, including ensuring the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law, and relevant legislation; ensuring it pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document; ensuring the financial stability of the organisation; and ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

Military Wives Choirs connect over 1700 women in the military community and create a support network through the power of singing. Our Data and Technology Trustee will contribute strategic advice on how MWC manage their technology and data to be compliant, minimise risks to the organisation and to keep up to date with, and take advantage of, developments in a way that recognises the budget and the scale of the organisation. Working closely with the Choir Support Team, they will support the long-term sustainability of the charity by providing strategic direction for their data and technology assets and initiatives. Trustees at Bromley Experts by Experience play a vital role, collaborating with the Chair, fellow Trustees and the Senior Management Team to set a clear and strong strategic direction for the organisation. You will ensure that Bromley Experts by Experience is delivering against its charitable objectives and working in line with our governing documents. You will also support Bromley Experts by Experience to grow and develop as an organisation by combining your lived experience and professional expertise in a specific field, enabling us to become more impactful and effective.
As a trustee, you are also responsible for ensuring that Bromley Experts by Experience uses its resources effectively and efficiently to deliver its charitable purposes and continue to provide benefit to our members, beneficiaries and local Deaf and Disabled people.
Areas of expertise we are prioritising
We are especially seeking trustees with expertise in one or more of these areas:
- Fundraising Strategy:
- Supporting X by X Bromley to sustain, maximise and diversify income streams and fundraising activity.
- Supporting the development of a Fundraising Policy and Plan of Action.
- Building and maintaining relationships with funders and commissioners.
- Human Resources:
- Supporting the Deputy CEO and ensuring that X by X Bromley complies with relevant employment laws and regulations.
- Advising on good practice in staffing and HR matters.
- Supporting the development, and review of, HR policies and procedures.
- Legal and Policy:
- Guiding on relevant legal and policy matters, including contracts and governance.
- Organisational Strategy:
- Supporting Senior Management Team to shape our strategic direction and plan for implementation.
- Secondary and Further Education:
- Supporting X by X Bromley with advice for a brand-new stream of youth work in education settings.

Responsibilities of Trustees:
- Ensure that Bromley Experts by Experience operates in accordance with its governing documents and the law
- Set a clear and strong strategic direction for the organisation
- Ensure that Bromley Experts by Experience uses its resources (financial and otherwise) effectively and efficiently to deliver its charitable purposes
- Manage risks responsibly, avoiding exposing Bromley Experts by Experience to unnecessary risk and taking appropriate steps to mitigate risks
- Make decisions about Bromley Experts by Experience’s policies and strategies
- Be an ambassador for Bromley Experts by Experience, promoting our work and values
What we ask of you:
- Trustee Board Members should expect to serve for a minimum of 12 months.
- Trustee Board Members are required to attend scheduled meetings with some ad hoc meetings where necessary.
- It is anticipated that the time commitment will be an approximate average 1.5 hours per week. This will mainly comprise of:
- Board meeting attendance (plus preparation and minutes) every 8 weeks.
- AGM attendance (plus preparation and minutes)
- Supporting our annual Disability Pride event.
- Occasional scheduled meetings with senior staff and/or Chair.
- As we are a very small charity, there could be occasions when extra time will be required (e.g. during the planning of new projects or dealing with any particular difficulties that arise), or where additional support would be appreciated (e.g. attending events, meeting members at project days)
Key Skills and Qualities:
- Lived Experience of disability (can be self-identified)
- A belief that Disabled people can and should be actively welcomed and included in our communities. An understanding that it is barriers in society that make that harder. This is called the Social Model of Disability.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Experience of how Trustee Boards operate and of effective charity governance
- Accuracy and efficiency with an eye for detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, communicating in a way that is accessible to you.
- Possess and demonstrate integrity, objectivity, accountability, and honesty.
- An effective team worker, contributing an independent perspective.
- Understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and the financial aspects of running a charity.
- A genuine interest in local communities and people.
- Commitment to Bromley Experts by Experience’s aims, objectives and values.
You must be legally eligible to stand as a registered Company Director and Charity Trustee. Having had previous experience as a trustee of a voluntary organisation is an advantage.

As our Treasurer Trustee, you’ll bring your financial expertise to our dynamic international board working alongside trustees from member organisations, our leadership team and co-opted trustees bringing a range of specialist skills to our Board.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a Treasurer with experience of working with not for profits in setting strategic financial direction,. It would be desirable to have experience in complying with the Charity Commission for England and Wales or similar bodies’ regulations.
You would be joining our board at an exciting time, as we implement our new strategy, build on our campaigns, broaden our advocacy to mobilise greater support and achieve change.
The Treasurer will maintain an overview of the organisation's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that the organisation has policies and systems in place to ensure robust financial planning, implementation and reporting.
What are we looking for?

- Reviewing budgets, accounts and financial statements, and recommending them to the Board for approval
- Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy
- Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate investment policy
- Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
- Ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised through external audits and internal reviews and that any recommendations are implemented
- Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
- Chairing the Resource Mobilisation and Communications Committee (formerly the Finance and Human Resources Committee), leading online meetings three times a year
- Ensuring that organisation has processes in place to meet any compliance requirements
- Ensuring the organisation has a risk management process in place
- Reviewing and signing financial transactions and other documentation requiring board approval

Oily Cart are looking for new Trustees and a Chair to join our Board, to champion, support and guide us on our mission to create ambitious and high-quality Sensory Theatre that all babies, children and young people can enjoy.
We recruit our board members for their specialist skills and knowledge. We value all kinds of knowledge, which you could have gained through your work or personal life.
