We are in a strong position as an organisation both internally and in terms of the critical role we are playing in our sector but there is always more to do and we are looking for people who can support and challenge us as we think about our next five years of progress. The Climate Coalition came together over 20 years ago and has grown to become the UK’s biggest group of people dedicated to action on climate change, with a combined supporter base of more than 22 million people. We encompass over 130 organisations spanning nature, environment, international development, faith, health, community and women’s groups – from the National Trust, WWF, the Women’s Institute, to Islamic Relief as well as local climate groups.
People are powerful when they come together: The Climate Coalition platforms and mobilises collective action for climate and nature; develops shared insights and narratives; and provides shared infrastructure to bring organisations together, to channel their collective action and create the space for sustained political change.
This is an exciting time for the Coalition as we adapt to meet the changing needs of the climate sector. Over the past few months we have refreshed our ideas about how we make a difference in the world (see our website for more details), and are reviewing our governance and how we make decisions.
WHAT WE NEED
We are looking to add a number of new trustees from either within or beyond our membership organisations. We are seeking trustees who will be bold and brave; who can contribute strategically across a wide variety of issues and who will support and challenge the Board and Executive Director in its drive for change.
We are able to provide access to support and training for first time trustees or those who feel they want to build their confidence/understanding in the role of the trustee.
Whether you work in the climate sector or in a different sector entirely, this is a chance to play a meaningful role in the UK movement. It is not just another governance role; it’s your chance to volunteer for an organisation with an outsized role in, and responsibility for, the climate movement as a whole.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience of community organising.
WHAT WE WOULD ASK OF YOU
As a trustee we would expect you to get to know us as an organisation and build a strong understanding of the aims of The Climate Coalition and work collectively with the Chair, the other Board trustees and the Executive Director to help ensure that the Coalition does all it can to fulfil its potential.
Specifically, as a trustee you will be responsible for ensuring it:

fulfils its strategic objectives as set out in our agreed strategic framework;

is well governed and abides by relevant laws and regulations (training is provided and you do not need to be a legal expert to do this role);

thinks carefully about how it recruits and how it spends money so that it has the necessary resources, both material and human, to operate effectively and deliver against our mission;

prioritises EDI in decision making.
Your commitment will be to:

attend our AGM as well as 6 x 2-3 hour trustee meetings per year, of which at least ⅔ will be via zoom, and to pre-read all relevant papers;

support our anti-oppression agenda and take part in or contribute to our trainings; as well as our main Board, over time all trustees will also have the chance to sit on and/or lead working groups particularly where you have specialised experience/skills, and attend other meetings where necessary;

to review our executive reports that detail how we are doing as and be aware of, and abide by the responsibilities of a charity trustee as set out by the Charity Commission.
Salary: The role is unremunerated though reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
Time commitment: Approximately 1-1.5 days/month

Terms of Appointment
Appointments are for an initial term of three years, renewable for up to two further terms of three years.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role and there is no remuneration. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed in line with the organisation’s expenses policy.
Location
Generally, meetings are held remotely online, with an annual Board Strategy Day being held in London.
Time Commitment
There are currently 4 formal Board meetings per year and more regular sub-committee meetings. The board meetings currently take place on Zoom on a Wednesday evening for approximately 2.5 hours. Sub-committee dates and times are flexible.
Other time commitments will include ongoing liaison with the Chair of the Board, Chief Executive and other senior staff, as well as attendance at other meetings, such as interview panels and events as required. Professionals Aid Guild (PAG) is seeking a new Trustee to join a well-established charity based in London to assist with ongoing and future strategic development. A background in Education or Social Welfare would be desirable.
Using your experience, skills and knowledge, as Trustee you will be;
- Contributing actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation,
- Setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with a background in IT, Education or Welfare; however a general interest in the relief of poverty is important. A successful applicant would be decisive, responsible, good at networking and passionate about delivering and developing the aims of the charity. Our Trustees play a vital role in the work of the charity and have a high degree of responsibility. The charity processes confidential information about our applicants and so an awareness of data protection regulation would be useful.
As a Trustee for PAG you will make a difference to professionals throughout UK. Examples of our beneficiaries could include a family struggling to afford school uniforms for their children, a cancer sufferer who has had to give up work and is struggling to manage financially, a medical student whose funding has failed, or a single parent who has moved to a new home and needs assistance with the cost of furniture – these are all areas in which PAG has assisted and continues to assist.
Some case studies below demonstrate the real impact that the charity has;
- Mrs B accumulated large debts when she lost her job and was unable to obtain further loan or credit. She was awarded a one-off gift of £500 towards travel for the final year of her MSc/Diploma from PAG’s Education Committee. Mrs B wrote “I am lost for words to express my gratitude for the received cheque. I would like to say thank you for helping me to every person involved. It will truly make a big difference to my life.”
- Ms E left the family home due to domestic violence and subsequently divorced, she has one son, who is in employment and who contributes to the household income, and one daughter, who is at school. Mrs E is not currently employed; she has completed a Diploma and hopes to find paid employment soon. The Professionals Aid Guild (PAG) works towards the relief of poverty and access to education for professional graduates and their families.
GACD (the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases) is the only alliance of international research funders jointly funding, developing and facilitating global research collaborations to tackle the growing burden of chronic ‘non-communicable diseases’ (NCDs) including heart disease, diabetes, cancers and mental health conditions. The worldwide burden of NCDs is increasing, but doing so most rapidly in poorly resourced countries where they are a significant risk to health and wellbeing. GACD aims to provide essential evidence on the most effective ways to prevent or manage these chronic conditions and improve health equity.
As a member of the GACD Board of Trustees, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for GACD as it seeks to fulfil its charitable objects. You will ensure GACD operates in accordance with its governing document and meets its legal and regulatory requirements.

HOPE not hate Charitable Trust, which was formerly known as Searchlight Educational Trust, was created in 1992 and over the years has raised over £20m to pursue its mission. In 2022, it changed its remit from being a conventional Charity, employing staff and running programmes, to become a fundraising and grant making Trust. HnHCT primarily supports the work of HOPE not hate Ltd, but it can also make grants to other organisations which meets our charitable objectives.
The Trustees meet four times a year to review the fundraising targets and ensure the grant made to HOPE not hate Ltd is being spent effectively and within our charitable objectives. One of these meetings is a joint away day with the Directors of HOPE not hate Limited, where the two bodies and the Senior Leadership Team of HnH Ltd discuss the state of hate in the UK and priorities for the forthcoming year.

Trustee role description
The role of a Trustee is to ensure that HOPE not hate Charitable Trust delivers on our mission, vision and values.
Duties:
· Ensuring that the organisation pursues its stated objects (purposes), as defined in its governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy
· Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document (i.e. its memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
· Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects (i.e. the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in its own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities are) for the benefit of the public
· Ensuring that the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets
· Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation
· Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place
· Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation
· Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity’s funds

The story of Share began in 1972, when a group of disabled people came together as a self-help group to improve employment and training opportunities for disabled people. Over the years, Share has grown and evolved, responding to changing needs and opportunities.
Share appointed a new Chief Executive in 2022, and the Charity is in the final year of a three-year strategy. Governance
Impetus is a charitable company registered with the Charities Commission (Charity number 1152262) in 2013 under its Memorandum and Articles (governing document). The governing body of the charity is the Board of Trustees, led by our Chair. The Board sets strategy and reviews policy. Day-to-day responsibility is delegated to the Chief Executive Officer, who works closely with the Chair. We have several committees and advisory groups made up of experts from a range of fields, providing in-depth review and oversight of our activities led, where possible, by Trustees.
Trustees are aware of and comply with the duty to act in the public benefit in accordance with section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 and members are listed on the administrative details page of our website. The governing body also meets as the sole corporate Trustee of The Youth Endowment Fund, a registered charitable trust.
Our Trustees provide strategic direction, hold the executive to account, and safeguard our mission and values. One with significant expertise in public affairs, government relations, or political communications, and one with extensive experience of the chairty sector. About this role
This role will complement the existing strengths of our Board, which includes leaders from business, civil society and philanthropy. We are seeking a candidate with deep charity sector experience who can bring insight and challenge to our work supporting frontline delivery organisations. The successful candidate will help ensure our strategic decisions remain grounded in the realities of the young people we serve and the charities that support them. They will play a key role in strengthening how we partner with our portfolio, and in championing systemic change across the education and employment landscape for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

- Impetus is the legal entity accountable for the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF), which operates under the strategic direction of an independent Committee, chaired by an Impetus Trustee. While this trustee role does not sit on the YEF Committee, the Impetus Board retains overall governance responsibility for the Fund’s effective delivery, including safeguarding and financial oversight.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the public affairs landscape and the role of policy, funding, and government relationships in shaping large-scale initiatives like YEF. They will recognise the significance of YEF’s mission in preventing youth violence and the importance of influencing government decisions on future funding streams, including opportunities such as the Dormant Assets Fund. They will contribute to Board-level discussions with strategic insight and a clear grasp of their non-executive responsibilities.

Every Future Foundation (EFF) is an anti-racist education charity working to eradicate institutional racism within UK schools. Through programmes like Champions for Change, teacher training, and the Activism Academy, we empower students, educators, and leaders to challenge racism and build equitable school environments.
As we scale our impact and pursue systemic change through policy reform under our 3-Year Strategic Plan (2024-2027), we are seeking a Trustee with lobbying and parliamentary expertise to join our Board.
Role Purpose
The Trustee will play a key role in supporting EFF’s advocacy work to influence national education policies, build strategic relationships with policymakers, and ensure anti-racism becomes a priority within the UK education system.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance and Strategic Oversight
· Provide strategic guidance to EFF’s Board and Senior Leadership Team on policy, lobbying, and parliamentary engagement.
· Support the organisation’s Racial Equity in Education objectives, ensuring alignment with our 3-Year Strategic Plan and influencing priorities.
