Job Title: Caring Dads Practitioner

Hours: 22.5 hours per week across 3 days.

Salary: £16,200 per annum (£27,000.00 Full Time Equivalent)

Base: Ashurst / Colocation venues, Southampton

Contract: Part Time - 12 months Fixed Term Contract (extension subject to funding)

Caring Dads exists to change current practice to better include fathers in efforts to enhance the safety and well-being of their children. The practitioner will work directly with fathers with an aim to improve relationships with their children, families, and co-parents/carers. This will include promoting the service to a range of teams across Hampshire and Southampton, to generate programme referrals. You will work closely with Hampton Trust domestic abuse perpetrator service to identify client suitability for the Caring Dads programme.

As the Caring Dads Practitioner, you will be required to deliver the Caring Dads and Accredited Domestic Abuse Prevention Training (ADAPT) Programme. This includes one to one support and group work. Groups are delivered on weekday evenings; you will be required to deliver one group work sessions per week.

You will undertake treatment and risk assessments of individuals causing harm in their relationships; this includes active case/risk management of families living with domestic abuse. Although this position is based in Ashurst, you will be co-located into social work teams across Hampshire three days per week, with an aim to providing support and advice in identifying suitable families for the Caring Dads and ADAPT programme.

In this role you will provide line management and support to staff who work with and help women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse and are staying in our Lambeth refuges. Our Lambeth refuges are culturally specific services for women and children of African and Caribbean heritage. This will include providing supervision on complex casework issues such as child protection, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

London Victim and Witness Service is recruiting for 2 x DRIVE Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA). These roles are full-time working one-day per week in the office and the other days from home, with regular travel required to visit clients and attend meetings.

The Drive model is based on an intensive case management approach and explicitly targets high risk perpetrators of domestic abuse associated with victims who have been referred to the MARAC. About the role:

This role will be part of our IDVA team in the London Victim and Witness Service. As a DRIVE Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:

• Address the safety of victims at high risk of harm
• Serve as a victim's primary point of contact by working with their clients from the point of crisis to assess the level of risk, discuss the range of suitable options and develop safety plans.
• Be pro-active in implementing the plans, including actions from MARAC, which address immediate safety and enable victims to protect themselves and their children, as well as longer term solutions, using sanctions and services via criminal and civil courts, housing options and other organisations.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.

About the Role

Assist in the day-to-day delivery of the service, managing a small service user caseload with the overall goal of supporting these women to sustain a (new) tenancy

Provide trauma-informed, solution-focused support to service users, tailored to individual needs and aspirations, with service users being able to choose as far as possible, what, how and when support is delivered

Advocate where appropriate on behalf of service users with external agencies regarding their welfare rights, Primary Health Care needs and other issues affecting their health and well being

About You

An understanding of the impact of trauma on women experiencing abuse

· Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Development Manager to recruit, train and manage volunteers who assist in delivering support services

· Lead on aspects of cross team projects and develop new resources that meet our community’s needs, while collaborating with other teams and external partners

· Develop information for our website and other resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information

· Plan and facilitate online and in person events for the brain tumour community, including online meet ups for young adults

As a Support and Advocacy Officer you will join a skilled team who collectively provide a unique UK-wide support and advocacy service to over 1500 members. 

You will primarily provide direct support and practical guidance to our Fabry members.  This patient group is largely adult focused but there will be elements of family and child support. You will raise awareness within both the Fabry community and external agencies; and contribute to the development of resources, to promote self-advocacy within the patient group.  A key objective of the role will be to build a sense of community and identity for our Fabry membership.  You will also have the opportunity to facilitate and contribute to project work, including youth engagement, advisory boards, and support groups.

In addition to supporting the Fabry community there will also be a requirement to provide support to those affected by other conditions under our umbrella.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a good understanding of MPS and Fabry conditions
• Develop knowledge of legislation and best practice relevant to supporting people with life-long conditions
• Provide emotional support, information and guidance in areas such as diagnosis, disease awareness, health and social care and disability benefits
• Support individuals and families to access best possible clinical management and treatment options
• Support and signpost people towards mental health and psychological support as required
• Undertake UK-wide travel to visit individuals and families and attend meetings and events
• Support the provision of online support and advice via social media channels
• Promote awareness by giving talks and presentations to outside organisations, professionals and the general public

 Experience & skills

• Minimum of two years’ experience of working with individuals with disabilities within health and social care, education, or related field
• Ability to communicate accurately, concisely and with clarity
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to upholding best practices
• Excellent IT skills to maintain accurate case recording, produce clear reports, correspondences and presentations
• Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in a small, dedicated team
• Experience of managing projects and service development is advantageous

Prior knowledge of Fabry Disease is not required as in-depth support and training will be provided.  Regular supervision and a supportive work culture will help you to expand your knowledge and become an expert in the work you are undertaking.

The PPASS service aims to improve and enhance the West Glamorgan regional advocacy network by creating a new form of peer advocacy and peer support for parents who are going through the child protection process, statutory assessment and/or the looked after children system within the Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea area.

Main duties

⦁ To provide an advocacy service for parents who are going through the child protection process, statutory assessment and/or the looked after children system

⦁ Provide advocacy support, to clients which may include accompanying clients to meetings, or support in writing letter to represent and/or negotiate on their behalf as requested.

⦁ To work in such a way as to encourage clients to self-advocate as much as possible via training/coaching/rehearsing

⦁ To provide clear information to enable clients to understand their rights and to make informed choices on options available to them

⦁ Undertaking promotional activities across West Glamorgan to promote the service in line with an agreed promotional plan.

⦁ Attending various meetings as requested by the council which may relate to promoting, reviewing and evaluating the service.

About the role

This tole is based in Cumbria. Turning the Spotlight is a busy service supporting families experiencing domestic abuse including perpetrators. You will manage case workers and facilitators in our dedicated healthy relationships programme.

As a Team Leader you will:

• provide leadership, advice and guidance to your team
• monitor the progress & quality of support delivered to service users
• develop your team, addressing any individual development/performance needs, setting both individual & team objectives & undertaking annual appraisals
