The ability to quickly build and maintain trusting relationships with service users, carers, peer support workers, and professionals is essential, along with well-developed listening skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals in crisis, both face-to-face and over the phone. Candidates should have good knowledge of local recovery tools, wellbeing resources, and mental health services, and be able to assess needs, risks, and aspirations to offer appropriate signposting. Strong time management and prioritisation skills are key, as is the ability to work dynamically and remain calm under pressure. The role also requires good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet use, as well as solid literacy and numeracy skills to produce clear, accurate written communication. A sound understanding of safeguarding issues and how to respond appropriately is essential. The candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team and support the induction of new peer staff and volunteers. The Barnsley Street Project is a pilot service funded by NHS money following a bid by East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT). The service comprises of Look Ahead staff, ELFT staff, and Tower Hamlets Mental Health VCSE Alliance, formed of 17 local VCSE organisations. The Barnsley Street Project operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support for people in the catchment area of one primary care network in Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets. It provides a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions, including the provision of 6 Hospitality Beds for short term support and intervention.
Support Workers within the Barnsley Street Project will be expected to support individuals requiring support from the local community that walk in to the service and those staying in our hospitality beds. This support may include providing tailored and co-produced practical, emotional, trauma-informed support to individuals with a variety of challenges relating to their mental health. This may include the management of symptoms, social support, navigating benefits and welfare systems, practical skills and signposting to specialist services in the local authority for intensive or specific support as required.
The shift pattern for this role involves two 13-hour shifts per week (07:30-20:30), including Wednesdays.

Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people released from prison, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. Working closely with Probation Officers and other community services such as police, health, housing and substance misuse, we provide a stepping stone from prison into the community.
As a member of the Approved Premises team, you will model pro-social behavior and foster a positive, respectful culture with both clients and colleagues. You will actively engage with residents, supporting communal activities such as meal preparation, and contribute to the delivery of individual sentence plans in collaboration with probation officers, police, and external agencies.
Your role will involve providing administrative and practical support, ensuring daily tasks are completed, and following all operational protocols. You will encourage compliance and enforce rules relating to curfews and drug and alcohol testing as required. Keeping colleagues, multi-agency partners, and management informed is essential.
You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness, and well-being of the premises and residents, utilizing tools such as CCTV, observation, and direct personal contact. About the role:
As a Service Delivery Assistant you will be:
- Supporting the Domestic Abuse Service Manager to provide a high quality and responsive administrative function for the Ashraya male victims service
- Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries into the service, supporting the wider team and service with general administrative duties

Our kitchen chef will prepare and cook meals for residents according to agreed menus. Oversees the service kitchen by managing any other members of the food preparation team, deciding what dishes to serve and adjusting orders to meet client's requests. Will assist in prep work and cleaning kitchen, but more often will be involved in cooking and serving dishes. There will be an expectation that the chef designs a menu based on client requirements in line with a set weekly budget. The chef will be expected to create calm, welcoming environment for a client group with complex needs.
Monday-Friday 3.30pm-7.30pm. 17.5 hours per week
What you'll do:
* To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision for all staff working in the kitchen/dining room
* To prepare and cook meals for residents according to agreed menus
* To ensure that meals are provided on time in accordance advertised meal times
* To ensure food kitchen hygiene meets a high standard at all times
* To ensure that all meals are appropriately presented and served
* To monitor all kitchen staff in safe methods of working with equipment and machinery
* To report any accident, breakage or fault in accordance with the stated procedure
* To maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and serving areas
* To provide a high standard of service to customers at all times and to deal with customers comments and complaints appropriately
* Any other duties as designated by the line manager

About the Role
This is an exciting new role which will help the Methodist Church in Britain to embed in the life of churches its commitment to be justice-seeking.
In 2024, the Church adopted a Strategy to embed the Methodist Conference’s Justice-Seeking Church Report in local churches, across the Connexional Team and throughout the life of Methodism.
The Justice-Seeking Church Officer will shape and develop this work across all levels of the Church in creative and innovative ways, identifying opportunities and responding to challenges. They will strengthen leadership for justice across churches, and enable collaboration across programmes and issues. They will enable theological reflection and will lead on shaping the vital emerging work around participation of people with lived experience of poverty.
You will be a member of the Justice Team but work collaboratively with many others. You will also be part of the wider Mission Team, playing a key role in the implementing its strategy in response to Our Calling and the Methodist Way of Life.
In this post, you will focus on the following priorities:
- Developing and embedding key areas of the Justice-Seeking Church strategy in churches and the Methodist Connexional Team
- Strengthening leadership in social justice and social action
- Developing opportunities for faith formation and theological engagement
- Developing new work around the leadership and participation of people with lived experience of poverty

Job Title: Food Education Network Director
Position Type: Paid/Part time

Salary: £44,000 FTE equating to £26,400 pro rated

Background
The Food Education Network (FEN) began in 2020 as a coalition of organisations passionate about improving food education in schools and other settings to influence recommendations for the National Food Strategy.
School Food Matters is now looking for an experienced and passionate leader with skills in advocacy and communications to lead the future development of the Food Education Network and its next stage of influencing government policy around food education from early years into the secondary phase.
Main Responsibilities
The Director will build on the foundations already laid to establish the Food Education Network as a new member organisation to bring the sector together. This role will involve building close relationships with a wide range of external partners to ensure the Network is a credible voice on food education policy and is campaigning with its members to make change happen. The role will be split between governance of the network (40%) and influencing government policy (60%).
Principle Duties:
· Define and clearly present the top policy priorities around food education and take these to politicians, the media and wider world
· Build close relationships with key decision-makers to influence food education policy
· Raise awareness of food education within the educational community
· Support the steering committee to raise funds
· Grow and solidify the Food Education Network, setting out a one-year plan with clear objectives, purpose, operations and governance
· Continue to build the membership of the Network, reaching out to organisations in the food education sector who can help add to the Network’s voice and evidence
Ideal Candidate
· Can work confidently in a start-up role to grow an organisation almost from scratch
· Solid understanding of public affairs, policymaking, and communications
· Significant experience of working in advocacy at a senior level
· Proven ability to effectively influence a range of political stakeholders and communicate complex policy positions verbally and in writing
· Ability to bring together a range of stakeholders behind a shared strategy, matrix managing multi-disciplinary teams across organisations and managing differences of position and views
· Comfortable with managing multiple workstream, rapidly assessing the changing political environment and adapting strategies accordingly
· Genuine interest in championing food education.

About the role:
This is a home based role that will include travel across England and Wales when delivering training. You will be working within a specific project that delivers learning externally to other organisations outside of VS. Your primary goal will be to design and deliver high quality learning interventions based on what our customers need.
As an External Trainer you will:
- Manage, coordinate and deliver professional, engaging and interactive training sessions to external clients using a range of facilitation methods, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed training objectives, materials and quality standards.
- Lead on the design and development of bespoke learning content to meet client needs and support strategic goals.
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining close relationships with external clients.
- Responsible for managing delegates, dealing with any issues that arise throughout the learning session. Ensure that all nationally directed learning is delivered in line with the approved materials and standards.
- Lead on the continuous improvement of training, using assessments and feedback to make recommendations for amendments. Review and update training content regularly to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
You will need:
- Experience of delivering training programmes using a variety of different methods e.g. face to face, virtual and one to one, managing delegates and issues that may arise
- Experience of designing and delivering training for adult learners, ideally within a commercial or client-facing environment
- Experience of delivering soft skills training and experiential learning activities
- Ability to develop a range of learning and development solutions that meet client priorities
- Experience of planning courses and evaluating outcomes
- A driving licence as this role does require frequent travel across England and Wales
