YMCA West Sussex Transitional Housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people aged 18-25, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. Our staff team comprises of Supported Housing Support Workers, Housing Mobile Night Workers and two Supported Housing Managers. We offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.
In delivering the role, you will work with the Deputy Supported Housing Manager and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our transitional accommodation service. INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
The Director of People and Culture leads on fostering a positive work environment in order to help develop a strong organisational culture, providing high quality leadership and oversight on the development and delivery of Girls Not Brides’ People and Culture strategy. As a people and culture senior level professional, you will have an evidential understanding of all aspects of HR practices, both UK and International. This is a pivotal role supporting the transformation of Girls Not Brides, leading the delivery of a workforce strategy that ensures we have a stable, sustainable, skilled, dynamic, and diverse workforce capable of delivering the goals of the organisation. You will be someone who can balance creativity with pragmatism, and expertise with a desire to learn, and a demonstrable alignment with our commitment to championing well-being, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Contract

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning and Organisational Leadership
• Lead the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ people and culture strategies to deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-2025.

About the role:
This role is home working based with travel in the London Area.
As a Homicide Service Children's and Young People caseworker you will be:
- Delivering a specialist service to children and young people (CYP) bereaved by homicide, and for those CYP who have witnessed a homicide.
- Working collaboratively and jointly within the Homicide Service and other relevant organisations that can help to progress identified needs and ensure that young people are central to all processes that involve them.
- Acting as the designated caseworker and manage a caseload
- Implementing the CYP Homicide Service Delivery Model
- Work closely and support colleagues to provide a trauma informed service to children and young people.
You will be responsible for providing a high-quality, front-line service to bereaved young people following murder or manslaughter. Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.
Shift work working a mixture of early, evenings and weekends.

What you'll do:
Look Ahead Support Workers have the personal qualities required to manage these customer expectations alongside the responsibilities of their role. Day to day Support Worker activities include:
Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere.
Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.
Supporting customers to set personalised goals in the form of a Support Plan.
Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals.
Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'.
Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support customers to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, community activities.
Supporting customers to maintain a healthy environment and where appropriate assisting them to clean their accommodation and maintain good personal hygiene.
Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents.
Managing customer referrals, completing assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork.
Maximising referrals to ensure service capacity.

Typical Support Worker Qualifications are NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent with little or some previous relevant sector work experience.
